Reservations.com represented themselves as the Sandman hotel itself. I was booking three nights in Edmonton Canada with a Canadian Hotel - I am also from Canada. When I got the confirmation, they booked me in US Funds. I phoned back immediately and they said it was my fault for not asking for Canadian funds. I said it was a Canadian Hotel, why would I think it would be in USFunds? Never once did he say this was NOT the hotel and was in fact an outside booking agency in the US. I gave them several (4 or 5) opportunities to tell me they were in fact NOT the hotel. I did not find this out until after i phoned to talk with the Hotel GM.

I immediately within 2 minutes of receiving the email - cancelled the reservation but they kept a 14.99 booking fee - in US Funds.

Horrible Horrible shameful cheating company - stay clear!!!!!!

Reservations.com Scam

I have been using a same hotel for my business trip for more than ten years. This time, as usual, I opened the web site and called the phone number listed appeared on the site. The booking process was quick, although it was a little strange that they said they cannot offer me the corporate rate I asked - which it happened once before due to the availability.

I cancelled the reservation the next day when I found out my company booked the hotel for me this time. I followed the link in the confirmation email and finished the cancellation.

A week later, I found there were two charge on my credit card -- the hotel reservation and the service fee from reservation.com. There is no refund for the cancellation. I checked reservation.com immediately, there's no reservation for the confirmation number. I called them immediately, and they said the cancellation did go through due to missing "reason" field. When I ask about the service fee they didn't mention during the reservation, the reply is no refund. It was a bad experience, they have no intention to refund.

Finally I called my credit card for the dispute.

The scary part is that I never thought I called a wrong number at the begining.

Just as others have reported, I was charged by stealth as follows: I was looking to book a hotel in a hurry and clicked on a link that looked just like the site I had used to book directly with the hotel previously. When the charges appeared and the hotel tax was $33 and change, I thought "Hmm, that seems high" but as there was nothing to be done about it, I was expensing it anyway, and I needed the room, I submitted my order. The first strangeness was that I never received an email confirmation. The second was that when I tried to get my bill for reimbursement upon checking out, the hotel informed me that I had booked through Expedia, when there had been nothing to indicate that I was using Expedia while making the reservation. This created an additional problem because I then had to track down my bill, and when I called Expedia to get it, the charge was about $15.00 less than the amount that had displayed when I submitted. So I checked the credit card I had used to discover that there was a separate $14.99 charge from "www.reservations.com," no phone number to call, no explanation of the charge. This is a ripoff of the first order.

Same ripoff, hotel informed me Expedia was involved, no $14.99 refund

Even though I cancelled 10 days in advance and reservations.com promised on phone and email to refund total, they did not. I called again and their "new policy" required me to send email requesting refund of this $14.99 fee. I did, no response. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company. Here is their

"Cancellation Policy" below: Note, Hampton Inns said they do not have any fees associated with reservations.com and that my actual booking showed up as Expedia. I have filed a disputed charge with my credit card company.

"We understand that sometimes your travel plans change. We do not charge a change or cancel fee. However, this property imposes the following penalty to its customers that we are required to pass on: Cancellations or changes made after 11:59 PM ((GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada)) on May 24, 2017, or no-shows, are subject to a 1 Night Room & Tax penalty."

Was attempting to book Buffalo Mountain Lodge in Banff and mistakenly clicked on website . Thought it was official site for hotel. The fake site pulls adds and Trip Advisor content from the internet to appear official. After clicking on the link to the fake website, I did not notice URL had changed to . I made a booking with credit card.

Immediately received email from my credit card company alerting to 2 transactions- One charge from almost 2x what was advertised on site, and one charge for $20 from . Reservations.com claims they will send a confirmation email upon completion of booking. I did not receive any emails from them.

Arrived at hotel on day I had booked with fake company and they did not have a room for me. They only had a booking for a date 3 weeks in the future, under Expedia.com. Called number listed on fake website 800-916-4339 and spoke to 2 employees both who identified themselves as a third party call centre acting on behalf of and refused to identify themselves or the people tey work for at . They promised a refund, but of course I didn't receive one. I received a phony email from 'Travelscape' from reply@travelnow. They were sneaky and set their replies to be sent to [email protected].

I am convinced all three companies do not exist (5 companies if Travelscape and travelnow are counted)

To date I have found that supposedly their 800-916-4339 number is registered to Verizon. Will contact Verizon, but do not expect any answer or help from them. has 3 unawsered complaints against them in the Los Angeles county BBB. has a 3 unanswered complaints from the Alaska, Oregon, and Western Washington BBB. Both BBB entries have street adresses listed that are probably fake.

I am in the process of filing a police fraud complaint in my city and with the RCMP, and will see if the hotel will give any information to add to the police report. I will try to contact the cities where the fake adresses appear in. I am contacting Expedia to ask if these companies are indeed affiliated with them and will post to their public social media pages if they do not respond.

I encourage you to do the same and share with friends and family that they should be careful when making online purchases.

Do not use reservations.com

If you know how to use a computer, you do not need to go through reservations.com. I did-I just thought I was booking directly to the hotel. They charged $14.99 (can we say $15.00) just to book a hotel room for one night. I am the one who did all the work-finding the hotel, and filling out the reservation. I printed off confirmation, then they emailed me another confirmation- I checked everything, with the exception of the total amount charged to my account (the room price was correct). I have to take ultimate responsibility, but I have been booking rooms, airlines, and rental cars for over 40 years, and have never run into this situation. So bottom line, either go through one of the major booking agencies, like travelocity, or book directly. In my opinion this is unethical.

Reservations

I was scammed by reservations desk .com. I tried to cancel and was given a hard time. I decided to contact the hotel directly and cancelled my reservation. I still was charged the full amount. I am currently disputing this with my credit card company. As people commented above you think you are booking with the hotel and are scammed. I will call corporate office of the hotel to let them know how they scam people. Shame on them also know as Reservationscounter .com

Charged a $14.99 hotel reservation fee without disclosure. I have called the company 3 times leaving a message, emailed 4 times including the media relations department. There has been no response. Contacted Group Sales. Reached an agent and asked for corporate HQ number. She said there is none. Asked for president's name. She said she did not know. I was then transferred to Customer Support and got same voice directions to leave my phone number and I would be called back. Still waiting. Will dispute the $14.99 fee with my credit card company but an informing you of this company's deceptive practice and abomidable customer service.

Consumer BEWARE of reservations.com

Reserved online with what I thought was the hotel website. Turned out it was "reservations.com". Reserved in Canada, hotel in Canada, charged USD. In addition, even though the confirming email confirmed the rate in USD, no mention of additional charges, BUT, charged a fee of CAD20.51. Have disputed fee via email with reservations.com since unable to talk to a representative on the phone, all phone menu selections are automated. STRONGLY recommend that you call the hotel directly when booking, most have a 1-800 number.

NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH RESERVATIONS.COM. We booked a reservation with reservations.com to stay at Hampton Inn, 129 Plains Rd, Milford, CT, 06460, (a decent hotel, where we often stay),We stayed one night (Saturday night only), and checked out early Sunday morning.

We were charged 2 nights, even though we only stayed for 1 night. We gave timely/immediate notice .

We sought refund for the Sunday night for which we had been charged (Sunday night, May 27, 2018).

Their reps have kept giving us the run around, telling us that they sent emails to Hampton Inn on his

Matter, requesting some sort of bs “waiver”.We have spent hours on the phone with their representatives,

They have typically been clueless, useless, rude, incompetent, scam artists, and most unhelpful. These are crooks, pure and dimple. They have no customer service skills. Their conduct is disgraceful

We unknowingly booked a room through reservations.com in January 2018 for a room we would need in Waco, TX in May. We found out they never paid the hotel when the hotel called us a few days before the trip to say we needed to pay to hold the room. We have tried on numerous occassiions to talk to reservations.com and they keep giving us the run around and always ends up hanging up on us. Scammed us out of $425.

On the morning of Thursday, July 20th, I accessed reservtions.com on my cell phone to place an order for a hotel room advertised as $63 per night (bait). AFTER I placed the order (Itin: 288700993), I was informed of extra charges bringing the total to $91.32 (switch). I IMMEDIATELY called customer service to cancel. After holding for nearly 45 minutes I was finally told that my full refund would be processed. Four days later, I was sent an e-mail from a lady named Karen informing me that my reservation was never cancelled and that I wouldn’t receive a refund (fraud).

Who is reservations.com? The company is like a ghost that trolls the internet taking cancellation and booking fees from unsuspecting consumers who think they are booking directly on a hotel website.

On September 12, I made and later cancelled a reservation at the Wyndham Garden Boise Airport Hotel. Both transactions were made within a few hours of each other. It was only when I received an email confirming the cancellation, that I discovered I was not dealing with the hotel directly, but a company called reservations.com.

Imagine my surprise when I got my credit card bill a few weeks later and discovered that reservations.com had charged me a $14.99 booking fee and $96.23 for the cancelled reservation. I looked back at the email and saw that there was a "no refund" policy in small print at the bottom of the email.

I went directly to reservations.com's website to have a look at the same hotel property directly on their site. What is notable about the site, is that nothing about cancellation policies or booking fees is listed next to the hotel prices. If you go to "room details" these fees are revealed in a hidden drop down box.

I scrolled through numerous hotel listings at all price points from $85 to over $250 on the reservations.com website The majority of the properties had non-refundable rates, although a refundable room would appear from time to time in the hidden boxes. Interestingly enough, many of the first few entries in the list of available rooms at a hotel were "non-refundable" with the occasional refundable room thrown in. I did not detect a specific pattern, but I do think the majority of their listings are non-refundable.

Beware of this site. I had no idea I was using it and it wasn't disclosed at all upfront what would happen with fees. When I called the hotel directly, they had a record of the cancelled reservation, which had come in under Expedia. I contacted Expedia about this, who said that some of the smaller companies use Expedia to process fees. I reported t reservations.com to expedia too.

For anyone scammed by reservations.com, I recommend you first contact your credit card company and dispute charges. You can also file reports with the FCC, the Better Business Bureau, and your state Consumer Protection Division. As for the latter, you can file an "informational" report and not ask for help from them if you are already getting it from your credit card company.

For my part, I will be doing all of this plus contacting reservations.com's web hosting company to report their practices there.

Beware Reservations.com

Thought I was speaking directly with hotel, but it was reservation.com. Booked two rooms. Was told that one night had to be prepaid. As a hurricane was on the way, had no problem. Hotel had reservation for only one room. After some research online, found how shady this organization is. Tried to cancel reservation for three hours. Was told that I was being transferred to customer service. Each time, was on hold for ten to fifteen minutes and then got a recording saying Good Bye! Immediately called my credit card company to dispute charges. Be careful with the web their web page, as it shows pictures of the property where you think you are calling.

Exceptional Ethics and Service

I had a very scary incident happened to me on a work trip to Northern Massachusetts. I checked into my hotel around 6pm. Put my bags into my room and went out for dinner. I returned around 10pm to call it a night. Around 2pm I received a phone call from another guest (must have seen me walk into my room alone) who started to say rude, nasty, scary comments. I freaked out and called the front desk to ask for a new room (since the creep knew my room number) and I wanted an escort for safety purposes. The front desk person, who barely spoke English started almost yelling at me saying there was no one in his hotel that would make such a call. And almost blamed me, or hinted that I was lying. I gathered my bags- and left in he middle of the night searching for a new hotel. I was scared out of my mind. I found a hotel and all was fine after that. Upon returning home, I made a call to this site to request my money back for the first hotel- I explained the story to the sympathetic women on the other end who told me she understood and would have done the same thing. I was promptly given a refund. I appreciated the service and ethics of this company and have booked many hotels since the "incident".

Directed to them as a Google search first hit for a hotel I wanted - thought I was calling the hotel! They said "not available but here are others right by." Made a "totally refundable" reservation at an IHG property for $199 - Checked IHG direct and it was $145. When canceling with reservations.com they charged $19.99 for a "service fee" never disclosed verbally when making the reservation. They are stealing money and getting away with it - such dishonesty totally qualifies as a "ripoff" if you ask me.

Reservations.com is a scam, pure and simple. They pop up in front of the Hotel you want as reservations. You are not dealing with the Hotel. The price they give you in one figure, then they sent you an invoice that is 50% higher. It cost me $50.00 dollars more than if I had made reservations with Marriott.

Their quoated price was the same as Marriott. I believe that this group is affiliated with Booking.com, who are a more up front and honest group. Reservations.com would not let me cancel saying it was because of the room rate.......that was a lie. I finally got someone who said they would cancel the room, but after checking they never did.

  • Jun 21, 2020

After being secretly redirected I filled in information to pay $89 for my room as advertised. After pushing pay a window opened saying $139 was charged. I immediately tried calling there 24/7 support line. There is no answer just some crappy music and a recording stating please hold. I never agreed with there fees or services.

This was a switch and bait scam. I called the hotel and they said they would try to refund it. But to call there customer service that no one answers. So I am turning this in to the attorney general. As should anyone else scammed by these bastards.

I wanted to make a hotel reservation but when I wnt the web page I thought wa sthe hotel a fraudulent website appeared that looked like the hotel's. Unknowlingly I made the reservation but when I saw the confirmation I realized my mistake.

I immediately called to cancel but the rude person said it couldn't be cancelled and all charges were due. I then discovered in my email when they sent the confirmation that a $20 service charge was due even cancelled............. Watch Out For: RESERVATIONS.COM when booking a room - they are sneaky little t..ds

reservations.com are crooks

Like everyone else I didn't realize I wasn't on Arizona Charlies webpage. Nothing on the webpage gave me any hints that it wasn't the official web page. I continued to make a reservation and a telephone number popped up. I called this number, they never said they were reservations.com. I made a two day room reservation. They said I could cancel anytime, except a certain time I would be charged a $25.00 cancellation fee. After that there would be no refund if I cancelled. Well, we decided we couldn't go to Las Vegas and tried to cancel the reservations. It was going well, until I accidentally pushed the button that said, "If you want a $15.99 reduction on your room rate to keep the reservation press here. In small print underneath that was Cancel your room reservations. Worrying that I did goof I called Reservations.com and told them I mistakenly hit the button to keep my reservation and instead I needed to cancel, because we were unable to go to Vegas. They responded, sorry, after you take that discount on your room rate, you can no longer cancel. I was baffled and angry. If I'm not using the room for 2 nights, you have to refund the money. Sorry we stand by our policy. By then I new I wasn't with Arizona Charlies official site. I am now handling this thru my bank. Hopefully they can get to the bottom of this. How do company's get away with this fraud. Unbelievable.

Reservations.com Hotels.com & Expedia.com Today, I made online reservations directly with what I thought was clearly the hotel. But, upon looking closer AFTER the fact, it is readily apparent ! WTF! But when I called Hotels.com to get my confirmation number, they told me that I had made the reservation using Reservations.com. So a thank you from Hotels.com, the hotel itself telling me that Expedia.com was the conduit for my reservation, and ultimately being told by Hotels.com that I actually used Reservations.com to book my room. This is simply outrageous and unethical. I know there are many more people who have been duped by these kinds of websites, and the hotel where I am staying at admitted that these booking websites are deceitful. I will write whomever I can in order to get this kind of deceitful practice investigated and addressed in some form. With credit card fraud and cyber fraud being what it is today, these people aren't much better in the way they do business. It is wrong, just as mislabeling food items is wrong. Spread the word, these booking websites are simply not honest and hope we're not looking close at what kind of sham they're conducting. They made the reservation website appear to be the specific hotel I wanted to deal with. But they were not.

This kind of deception needs to be checked and stopped. I paid $14.99 for something I could have received for nothing had I actually been dealing directly with the hotel itself. Who wants to pay a fee when you can get the same service with the hotel you want to stay at. I always deal directly with the hotel so I can avoid this unethical practice. But, I got duped. My bad. But it does not excuse this kind of online marketing practice.

They make it look like they are the actual hotel through false advertising, then show a price ($174) that looks similar to every other place. But when you check out, it doesn't even show you the fees! So I thought I was paying 174, but ended up paying 240! I contacted them and employee #58234 said this was common and I would just have to deal with it.

RESERVATIONS.COM is a third party reservations company that links to numerous hotels worldwide. I made a reservation for a New Zealand hotel on the internet that I assumed was a direct reservation with the New Zealand hotel. The room rate provided by RESERVATIONS.COM was NOT identified as US Dollars or NZ Dollars. As I believed that I had made a direct reservation with the New Zealand hotel, I assumed the room rate was in NZ Dollars. [One NZ Dollar = 0.686 US Dollar.] RESERVATIONS.COM charged my credit card in US Dollars and added fees not represented on its ROOM TYPES & RATES quote. RESERVATIONS.COM also charged my credit card a NON-REFUNDABLE fee of $14.99 that was NOT clearly represented on its ROOM TYPES & RATES quote.

Upon notice from my credit card of the two charges, I contacted RESERVATIONS.COM (Nori at ext. 51399) on the same day that I made my reservation. I requested that I wanted to cancel my reservation and receive full reimbursement for the two credit card charges by RESERVATIONS.COM. I was informed that RESERVATIONS.COM would refund my New Zealand hotel room charge but NOT the NON-REFUNDABLE fee of $14.99 USD. I indicated to RESERVATIONS.COM that their business practices are NON-TRANSPARENT and DECEPTIVE. Furthermore, I indicated to RESERVATIONS.COM that NON-TRANSPARENT and DECEPTIVE business practices do NOT give a business a right to charge UNAUTHORIZED NON-REFUNDABLE fees.

These scammers charge your card immediately w/o giving a total cost first, then they charge 14.99 to cancel. I called within 4 minutes to cancel. Talked with someone who said it would take 10 to 16 business days to refund. He argued that it says the charge is 14.99 for service. Tried to use their chat that pops up, but that is also just a pop-up fraud to make it look legit. Cancel your card immediately if this happens to you.

I went on the wyndhamhotels.com website to book a room for the next night. The results showed a room rate of $76 at the Super 8. I went directly to the Super 8 website, verified the check In and Check Out dates, selected the $76 rate for 1 Room/ 1 guest and entered the necessary information to complete the booking, including my email address and credit card info.

As soon as the reservation was completed, the total charged to my credit card account was $106.10. I immediately called the Super 8 local number to request a cancellation and was told that the reservation was "non-cancelable and non-refundable."

I have disputed the charge with my credit card company with no success. I continue to persue the dispute with both Wyndham Hotels and reservations.com.

Trying to get hotel reservations, I visited VirginRiverHotel.Reservations.com and got what looked like the Virgin River Hotel website. I selected a room, clicked what I thought was a reservation and was given a $27 price plus tax. I was then told, by email, I had the room and had been charged $46.55.

Their email notice gave a website to cancel which, after 30 minutes of trying, would not respond and/or open. I called the credit card company and was told I had two charges; one for $15 and one for $31.55. I asked for those charges to be removed and they would not, saying I could dispute them after they were posted.

I send an email to 'Reservations' requesting cancellation with no response. I looked up the Virgin River Hotel direct number, called and made a reservation for $31.55. Within minutes I got a call back from the Hotel staff saying I had two reservations. I asked to cancel the first, and they said they could not, and I had to call Expedia, and they gave me the number 888-397-1786.

I called and spent almost 30 minutes on hold and talking to several operators, before they found and cancelled the pre-paid reservation. They said they could not remove the $15 charge, acting like they had nothing to do with that. They would not acknowledge that they ever know of Reservations.com.

The scam is that the hidden charge of $15 is non refundable, and that fee is not disclosed or is so well hidden, that you only learn of it after your credit card has been charged.

Made three on-line hotel room reservations for the Bonaventure Hotel. First, I thought I was making the reservations directly with the hotel. The search engine brought this web site up first and looked exactly like the hotel's real webswwite. When booking, I inadvertently used a debit card to make the reservations and wanted to change the pay method (since they charge your card immediately).

Customer service advised since the debit card was already charged, I would have to cancel the reservation and re-book. I was then told there would be a $14.00 "Service Fee" to cancel the reservation per their policy. I feel very strongly this is a bogus business practice since their "system" does not allow for a change or reversing a charge transaction.

  • Jun 6, 2017

Reservations.com is, and has been running an Internet SCAM by posting look-alike fake websites fooling victims into thinking that they have connected directly to the hotel website. For example, on 05-31-17 I made a reservation with what I thought was the LaQuinta Inn & Suites in Salt Lake City. I found that site by googling the hotel name. Rooms were being advertised for $99 per night. Upon making a credit card payment a confirmation email was sent to me by reservations.com in the amount of $133.56. Two things immediately came to mind. I was wondering how reservations.com got involved, and why I got charged $34.56 cents above the advertised price. I did a further Internet search and found the actual hotel website. The rooms were being rented for $80 per night on the day I wanted to check in! $19 cheaper than that $99 ! Reservations.com's scam works like this: You're searching for the hotel site and end up on the fake site by reservations.com. A Pakistani sounding woman answers the call. You inquire if you have connected directly with the hotel. The woman says, "we do the reservations for LaQuinta." You make your reservations. Confusing to you, reservations.com sends you a confirmation email charging you a much higher rate than the advertised price on that fake website, something you never agreed to. You call back to cancel. Another foreign sounding woman asks, "Have you read our cancellation policy?"

Not only have you not read any policy, you had no clue you contacted reservations com! The woman informs you that you will be charged $14.99 to cancel, and your refund will take about 4 weeks to show up in your credit card account. You ask why the higher charge? The woman says that the hotel sets the room and cancellation charges. You call the hotel to try to better understand what is going on. The hotel said that Hotel.com paid for the room, You call reservations.com back on the number listed on the confirmation email. The foreign sounding woman now claims that Expedia com paid the hotel, and that you would have to contact expedia.com??m You're obviously being given the run-around to confuse you to probably simply not pursue this crazy game they're playing on you. There is a review website called sitejabber.com. Go there to discover the hundreds of people who were also scammed in the same manner. This scam amounts to an Internet fraud. Join me in doing the only thing, besides just complaining. Do what I did. File a complaint with the US Dept. Of Justice. Let's get these crooks prosecuted and jailed! US Department of Justice 950 Pennsylvania Ave Re: Internet scam Washington, DC. 20530 Also Google the website for the State of Florida Attorney General's Office to file an on-line complaint. Reservations com and Hotel com need to be criminally prosecuted for scamming the public. Don't just complain about being ripped off. Do something of substance by filing a complaint with the two agencies above

On May 7, 2017 I inadvertently booked a room in Ontario, Oregon with this company. I was looking for the motel site directly and thought I'd found it. The internet rate was $62.00 (which, as it turns out, I could have booked cheaper by calling the motel). It was not until I'd made the reservation and my card charged that the extra $14.99 appeared. After exchanging texts with them (which in the course of changing phones have disappeared) I was told it would be reversed as a courtesy. Apparently, these bots are not very courteous, as they didn't follow thru.

Hopefully, enough people will bring this, in my opinion, scam, to light and take appropriate legal action.

I booked my hotel through reservations.com in April 2017 for arrival date of 5/27. When looking online to check on amenities the hotel will not even be open till June 5th!

I caleed Reservations online, Hilton, and the Hamton Inn's and no one is able to help. I just keep getting transferred from one person to another and given multiple excuses. All I want at this point is my refund since my card was already charged and no one wants to give us a refund on a reservation where the hotel is not even open yet!

I booked a room for $14.99 at reservations.com. When I got to the hotel 5 minutes later, they told me I had 2 reservations. I immediately called res.com to cancel, they had 2 more reservations for me: 1 at 14.99 and 1 at $51! I was on the phone for an hour, got confirmation numbers, was told my credit card would be credited in 7-10 days. A month + later the charges showed up on my credit card. I called res.com and they sent me an email telling me the charges (only the $51) had been refunded to my credit card. They have no record of the other $14.99. the confirmation #'s they gave me are not working. Unbelievable.

Beware!

Zero stars! This site is fake. When I did not get my confirmation email, I tried to track it down to no avail. The customer support number was also bogus. Called my credit card company right away to cancel my card (they had my card info and 3 digit security number) and to dispute the charge. Beware!

Found only one booking website for Cedar Lodge, El Portal, CA: cedarlodge.reservations.com. (In reality, the hotel uses www.yosemiteresorts.com). Nowhere on cedarlodge.reservations.com are any terms and conditions revealed other than those of Cedar Lodge. Was never sent any reservation confirmation and had to call the hotel to see if I had one. Later had to cancel and hotel informed me that they thought Expedia had made the booking. Took me a while to find out that reservations.com had made the booking. They had deducted the hotel's $7.50 cancellation fee--which I knew of—but had also charged and retained a $14.99 booking fee without ever providing any access to information about the fee. I called reservations.com and was told they would refund the fee and would immediately send confirmation of that. Instead they finally sent the reservation confirmation! The confirmation made no mention of any booking fee. Two days later, I received an e-mail stating that reservations.com was keeping the booking fee as I had "agreed to it when I booked"--even though the website I used contains no mention of the fee. The fact that reservations.com is one of at least four names the company uses makes the company especially slippery to locate and deal with.

We searched for Days Inn on the Internet in order to make a reservaton with Days Inn in Statesboro, Georgia. The phone number that came up was 855-591-1524. I called the number which was answered "Reservations". I asked to speak with the front desk of the Days Inn in Statesboro. The person on the phone said just one moment please. When she came back on the line she said "I am sorry the front desk is not available right now can I help you." I said we had a great rate last time we travelled and wanted to make another reservation. She replied one second and let me check. She came back on and said sorry we are all booked up for that day, can I find you another reservation with one of our partners. She said good news I have an even better rate at the Quality Inn nearby for $57.00 which you can cancel anytime before 3PM the day of arrival for a full refund. Five minutes later I called back to cancel and she said no problem your reservation is cancelled except for the non-refundable fee of $14.99. I complained that at no time was I told there was a fee, nor was I ever told I was not talking directly to the Hotel. After I became quite angry she finally said no problem we will cancel the transaction and gave me a confirmation number. When I received my credit card statement the fee was not cancelled. This is a complete scam.

Contacted and made reservations via phone. Thought i was dealing with actual hotel and did not realize this was a third-party. Quoted me two rates but the final total did not add up. Was told I would receive an e-mail receipt of transaction. Contacted reservations.com three times and requested a receipt for my purchase. Got the run around saying system was being updated and they could not access my reservation. Then told I would have to wait 72 hours to receive it. should have cancelled reservations right then but did not know I got taken on fees and probably paid an extra $50 per room. Arrived at our hotel - South Padre Island Inn and requested a copy of the charges and the hotel refused to provide a copy because they had an agreement with Expedia and reservations.com. Very deseptive business practices. I will never use Expedia or reservations.com again. Total rip off.

I reserved a hotel for one night after checking out its prices and total costs for one night. Most sites were charged at $135 included all taxes. When I book this reservation, thinking i was booked witht the Hotel itself, but it was later routed me to Reserations.com. After I checked out then realized Reservations.com charged me an additional fees that brought one night stay to $160.14. This is outrageous for staying a three stars hotel! I called Reservations.com afer thirty minutes on the phone, the representatives asked me few words and hung up the phone. This is a scam sites! i warn all travelers not to book hotels via this Reservations.com! They are scammer!!

Scammers

How they continue to operate is beyond me. I was fooled like everyone else, no fees disclosed until after you book, and yes, I to thought I was on the hotel website.

  • Dec 6, 2016

Thought i was booking directly with the hotel. Didn't know about this $14.99 charge until credit card statement came.

Fraud

FRAUD!!!!!

Never used this site, book direct thru hotels all the time and still got charged some random 14.99 charge. When I called she had a profile on me which I never gave them, very concerning. Reported to Amex to dispute the charge!

This service I hesitate to call it that) charged me in usd to book canadian hotels from a canadian number without even once mentioning that they were quoting usd. Then they added a $9.99 "booking fee" to each reservation. When i called to cancel, it took nearly an hour on the phone to find the four reservations Even though i had only booked them moments before!) and reverse the charges. Then, however, they didn't reverse the "booking fees", and i took a hit on the usd exchange rate and was out of pocket over $80 on the four bookings. I escalated to a "supervisor" who eventually promised to refund the four $9.99 booking fees, but that was october of 2015. It is now august of 2016 and they still haven't refunded them. I call and/or email about once a month just to be a pain in their sides, and they just keep sending lies telling me they have refunded my credit card or my paypal account. Liars! thieves! scam artists! steer clear!

  • Aug 13, 2016

Total scam!

Avoid them like the plague. They effectively impersonate a hotel site and then charge outrageous fees without disclosing them until it's too late.

Dunes Village Resort Website No Longer Trusted

I thought I was on the same Dunes Village Website that I have used for 5 years now. I called the resort to make manner changes to the number of people staying in the room with me. They told me that they couldn't make changes since I had booked through Expedia.com. I have never been on Expedia.com and I don't like third party companies. They informed me that I had and that they couldn't see my reservation. I looked at the confirmation email and called the number. The customer service rep wouldn't tell me what company it was only that it was "central reservations". The call was disconnect two times and I called back and the same rep answered only with a different name. I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor and "Joseph" said that he wouldn't be transferring me over to anyone, and that he could help me with any issues I may have. At that point I realized that I had been scammed and I called my bank immediately to report the fraud. When I was done I googled Reservations.com Scams and what do you know.

I am a little disappointed that upon calling Dunes Village back directly to tell them of the hassel and scam that I had been through while booking a vacation week at their resort they did little to accommodate me and did not seem to care at all. I needed to upgrade my room because I added more to the party that was staying on vacation with me. After a stressful day of discovering I had scammed I had not accomplished what I needed to do which was upgrade the room. I do understand that this was not the resorts fault, but I feel like they should be concern that their customer are some how getting scammed off of their website.

Be careful that you stay on your intended hotel's website. Somehow I was switched from Villas de Santa Fe.com to Reservations.com. When I chose my dates for vacation on the first page on the website there was no mention that the entire charge (almost $1000) would be charged immediately and non refundable. Only when I selected 'Book' did I get to page 2 that informed me my credit card had been charged for the full amount and it was non-refundable! I immediately tried to call the phone number given by reservations.com to complain and cancel the reservation. I also immediately reported what happened to Capital One Mastercard who told me not to worry that they would take care of the charge. Well, here it is 3 months later and many phone calls and proof of my transaction to them and my card has been charged for good. When I called Reservations.com immediately, there was no real person to talk to to explain the situation, only a electronic choice of menus none of which applied to my situation. So I e-mailed them and explained this was not right to charge without prior notification of the consumer. They cancelled the reservation and as I requested and that was it.

So, now Villas de Santa Fe will sell those dates again, no problem getting paid twice for that week. I cannot stress enough how important it is to be careful what you are doing on the Internet. I have cancelled my Mastercard with Capital One because they wouldn't work with me, and I think reservations.com is a crooked website intent on taking people's money no matter the situation. Do not use either, and for goodness sake, never stay at Villas de Santa Fe! No vacation this summer!

Rotten Sneaky Shameless Scammers!!!

Overrall I share the same experience as all of you who have given reviews on Reservations.com. My husband who is in the hotel business told me to always directly go to the hotel's website when booking because he said they've encountered a lot of problems with third party booking. I've always booked with Booking.com and never had a bad experience with them and they never charge for booking fees. Little did I know that I would encounter a bigger problem like Reservations.com. I've never opened their website at all! I thought when I was at the Stratosphere Hotel website that I was booking directly with the Stratosphere Hotel. I don't know how the hocus pocus made by Reservations.com. They just took over the reservation while all along I thought I was doing it direct with Stratosphere. I read the cancellation policy of the hotel and they say they never charge anything unless you cancelled late like after 72 hours and they charge 1 night with tax for no show. Anyway, due to a change of plan I cancelled my reservation and when I checked on my credit card transaction there was this unrecognizable $14.99 charge which I later found out was from Reservations.com. And like all of the reviewers, was made to look stupid for not being aware that we have been snatched and redirected to this fraudulent crocodile scammer of a website! Hotels should ban and discredit this website for its sneaky and unprofessional way of conducting business. If I wanted to use a third party I would have directly gone to Booking.com or hotel.com. Anyway, thanks to a Chase representative. He called up the company but couldn't get hold of anybody so he offered me a $10 credit for my trouble. He said that since I gave my card info and agreed to "terms & conditions" (terms & conditions of the hotel's not reservations.com as I was aware of at the time of booking) when they couldn't get hold of anybody at reservations.com. This kind of experience burn trusting online shoppers & customers! It's very inconvenient too for consumers and credit card companies with the back and forth for dispute! Bad apples like this should be outlawed!

Exceptional Ethics and Service

Exceptional Ethis and Service! I had a very scary incident that required a call to this company for retribution. (Which was promptly given!- thank you!) I was staying at a hotel in N Massachussets for work. In the middle of the night I creepy caller (I'm guessing another guest saw me walking in the hotel alone and figured out what room I was in) within the hotel woke me at 2am with harassing comments. I was scared out of my mind. I called the front desk for relocation and an escort- I felt like this creep must be watching me- only to have the front desk guy pretty much tell me there was no one in his hotel that "would do such a thing"- pretty much telling me to "go back to bed". Knowing I could never fall asleep- I gathered my bags and left in search of a new hotel. Once I returned home I called this site for a refund at the hotel where the incident happened. The sympathetic women promptly addressed my concerns, expressed how she would have done the same thing, and refunded my night. I appreciate the quick and easy response and continue to use this site often.

Exceptional Ethics and Service

I had a very scary experience while staying at a hotel in northern Massachusetts- in the middle of the night I was received a "prank/nasty" phone call from a guest in the hotel that must have seen I was a female traveling alone- and saw the room number I walked into. Scared and totally freaking out, I called the front desk and asked to be moved to another room, and needed a security guard or someone to escort me. I was given a complete run-around by the owner who barely spoke english- pretty much shouting at me that there was no one in the hotel that would call me and say disgusting harassing things. He even mentioned something about his parents were in the room next to me- and they wouldn't do that? (I didn't convict his parents, I said it was some creepy guy who must have been watching me). I packed my bags at 2AM and quickly drove to another hotel - out of fear for my life. Upon returning home from my business trip I attempted to get reimbursed for the first hotel where the incident happened. I had little hope that I would recuperate my money, but thought I'd try. I called the number on the site and got on the phone with an agent who was also a female. Explaining my situation, she completely understood (and mentioned she would have left too under the circumstances)- and said she would reimburse me for the nights stay that was cut short. The money was returned to my card within a few days. I was totally shocked and pleasantly surprised by the service and ethics of this company.
