Don't buy a Xerox scanner if you want to keep using it on the latest windows OS. I have a Xerox Documate 262 scanner that I bought maybe 4 years ago. I recently changed over to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and got a message that the driver was no good. So I went to the Xerox site and looked for a Windows 10 driver. None was listed so I called Xerox customer support where the tech representative informed me that Xerox was not going to update the driver for Windows 10 and advissed me to convert back to Windows 7! Seems that this Xerox tail wants to wag the big Microsoft dog. They then informed me that it was too much trouble for an organization their size to update drivers for discontinued models. I informed them that it was also a lot of trouble for me to pay $800+ for a scanner that they decided to obsolete. They then offered me a 20% discount on a new Xerox scanner and of course I would be elated to purchase another future obsolete product from them Not!!! So if you would like to buy a soon to be obsolete product from an organization the obviously deserves to be even smaller -- and seems to be earning that right -- please buy youself a Xerox scanner. Maybe even this one.
I go to check a credit alert and I see a hot has been taken to my score from the company Xerox state and local. I rarely go downtown and when I do I pay for parking at the meter so I'm unsure where this hit came from. I've never received any calls about a debt that needed to collected from the city of Dallas. This is against the law since I have no knowledge of what's going on and , my score is being effected by it.
I worked at Xerox call centre for five and half years and on June 19th 2015, I was called by my agency to tell me that I was fired, ask for reason, none was given to me, allow me to share with you my story and the issue that is now on the rise with this company call Xerox.
Xerox employees 135.000 people world wide, they are a billion dollar company, and according to the net they lead the way for ethic and security, which many of us can question that.
I loved my job, never missed a day, never took a vacation day, always worked overtime when ask, sat on some committees, raised money for homeless cat, liked and respected by all those who knew me, I felt good with this job, I felt value with this job, I felt needed with this job, and on June 19th 2015, two managers within my department did not want to deal with an issue that I brought up decided to take upon themselves to call my agency and have me fired.
First thing I want to say, I should not have been with an agency. I should have been converted to Xerox, and if I were, they would not been able to fire me so easy without labor board issues, but that was not the case.
When I went to my interview back in 2009, I sat in a room with two GDO managers, first thing I ask them when i went in, how does this agency thing works, and they told me that the agency help Xerox to recruit staff, and after one year and if you have good stats and don't miss too many days, Xerox goal is to hire you from the agency so that you would be working for us not the agency.
Like many other people who were hired by GDO department with Xerox, we made it our mission to get converted, which never happen to any of us, and there are people still there as a contractor as long as 6 years.
Right now there are over 100 contractors at Xerox here in Saint John NB Canada, who are still waiting and what makes this story even more interested, they continue to use the same line on the new hires as of June 19th 2015, that they too would be hired on after a year.
And for those contractors who have been there over a year, which in most cases with other companies, by that time the other companies would hire the contractor not keep them with an agency which could be very costly to the business, but not xerox, they continue to keep these contractors with the agency even though they told them that they would hire them, so the question is why.
When you get hire at Xerox with an agency, you are ask to sign a contract which has many clauses, which most time you dont even get the chance to read it, this type of contract for those contractors one years or longer is very dangerious to them contractors of one year or more.
Its call a STANDARD FORM CONTRACT, and this contract is designed that you can be fired anytime, any reason, or no reason by the client and the client meaning Xerox, is not the one firing you but in fact they are, the blame falls on the agency so Xerox can avoid with labor laws and the same time can get rid of anyone anytime.
Raises are not given by the agency, so as long as the cost of living increase and if a person has been working there since 2006, which is 9 years, while the cost of living goes up, your wages stays the same from the very first time you been hired.
Right now many new hires in Saint John, are quitting Xerox within the first two months, because they too were told about conversions, but they met one or many of the 100 plus contractors who have been there for two to six years, and they are still contractors, so they see that and quit because they now know that they have been miss-lead.
In my time being there before I have been fired, meaning the year of 2014-2015, more than 75% of new hires has quit within the first two month, even today when i look at the job bank I see 11 different ads from three different agencies looking for people to work for Xerox GDO.
Xerox all they need to do is place an order for new people, just like placing an order for pizza, they know that these people are going to quit because of the conversion issue, how unfair can you be, well they are and they will continue to try to hire on new people and each time they do, they will lose them soon, and soon enough there will be no one interested working there because of the lies and that standard form contract.
On June 13th 2015, I send an email to my manager asking if we could have a meeting with the head of GDO, I have a question about conversion, three time they set me up with a meeting and three time they cancel the meeting, they got their hands on a copy of the questions i needed to ask about conversion that Friday morning which was left in the photo copier, they seen it, they read it, and they did not want to deal with it, I wonder why, take a guess, that Friday getting ready for work, got a call from my agency and have been fired, no reason, at all.
My opinion is how this all play out, my manager got the letter, read it, took to the lady of GDO, she read it, told the manager I don't want to deal with this, take care of it, he calls my agency and tell them that xerox does not want Robert working here anymore, so they call me and fire me and take the blame as the manager within my department makes announcement to say that I am sorry to say that Robert Raynes will not be working here any more as per agency, and he also said to my fellow workers, and I want to tell you that Xerox had nothing to do with Robert not working here.
I was told that by two people who were present when he made that statement.
But in fact he had me fired all because I wanted to know why are we the 100 plus still waiting on conversion and why are you still telling new hires that they would be converted.
