Be forewarned of ANYONE calling you out of the BLUE..claiming to be Microsoft or any Software support. The chances Microsoft would actually call an END USER (the typical Jane/Joe who has a computer is RARE to NEVER!!
I was out in my workshop when I got a call from my Mom. She stated that she got a call from a tech at Xanwebsol; telling her that she her computer was running slow, yes," that she needed to pay $249 now and a tech could remotely access and "fix" her computer. She had left the house and computer in their control"remotely"..once I knew that I dropped everything and sped to their house. Upon arriving I could see movement remotely, YET no sign of actually doing anything. When asking who and what they were repairing..the response was "We are scanning your computer internally, please don't use it now. Once done, we will call you. To reach us please call at 772-924-0049 or 800-513-2797 Thank you"...YET when called neither number would go through or was disconnected. I disconnected the internet..That would get their attention. They called, spoke in a strong dialect that I could not understand fully what they were saying. I asked them then tell me exactly what you are removing, fixing, or etc. They gave me some non-technical bs..that anyone with basic computer skills would know was garbage! I could not get a word in...when did they wanted to continue going through computer. I asked AGAIN "what exactly are you doing, how did you come to call and inquire about this computer? The phone conveniently was disconnected!?!?!?
Any honest technical support would gladly show you what they are doing via "remote access". This company perhaps need to rethink pulling the wool over some people's eyes (Southerners), especially if those people have more technical savy kids.
Please Be Forewarned.. And do your own research to anyone claiming to be Microsoft, Software, Security Tech Support.. Chances of either of those companies calling you OUT of the BLUE (where you don't already have contracts with) are SCAMS!
