I will not say that this is a total Rip-off but be informed about your donation. I could not find their website, the address on the receipt did not match the website. The solicitor had it on his phone so I did find it. They want you to believe they are non-profit but nowhere will you find that designation, so your donation will not be tax deductible. Because they are not 501c3 you will not be able to find financials anywhere to see what percentage of your donation is actually used for the troops. They do not list an address on their site (P.O. Box) and use gmail for their email address. The solicitors were polite but a little overly aggressive. There are lots of nice pictures on their site but nothing that specifically confirms what they send (or if they send it).
I found another post where the writer stated they knew one of the solicitors and he was making $1,000 per week. IF this is true, so much for how much of your donation finds the troops. My guess is that the owner makes a good buck too!
My elderly neighbor gave them money based on their pitch. They pull out all of the stops, soldiers, women, dogs, etc. It all looks legit on the surface and again I cannot tell you if they are legit or not. I am a big supporter of the military and almost bit, but did my research while they were waiting.
I passed. There are too many validated charities to use without taking a chance here. Just sayin!!!
This is in Response to your report, i actually know quite a few people that do the care package thing door to door and i tell them all the time to get out of it becuase it is a scam. I think it is a disgrace to our military that they are using them to get rich! And it is very personal because i have family in the Army, Marines....
