Woodforest National Bank Reviews

  • May 6, 2018

I opened a business account with this Deceitful Bank and its a nightmare. Everyone of there employees are liars and mostly consist of trash. What bank teller greets you with missing teeth and looks like they just rolled out of bed? None but Woodforest. If you dont want to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown do not bank with Woodforest. They will make you every promise in the world until you sign up, infact the hoodlum who set up my account was fired a few days later for stealing from the bank for years. When calling customer service you will reach a call center located in the Caribbean's, they cannot assist the customers so what is the reason for there employment? To answer the phones and tell you they cant help! Every check deposit I put into my Woodforest account has been held for ransom, yet to get my money.

Today if I do not get my funds which belongs to my business I am going to close my account. No reason to bank with them when I am not able to access my money. Yes Shane you need to be fired asap but it goes on in every Woodforest money pit, just search the web for yourself. Your manager Mr Moore pretends to be some big bank regional manager but the bad news is Im not some piece of trash on welfare and ssi that he can bullshit and intimidate. Lets be honest what banker buys there clothing from walmart? No class! I had enough... If you have these issues contact the Banking and Insurance Dept and the OCC to file a complaint, Hey Woodforest look at Wells Fargos billion dollar fine yous couldnt afford.

Long story short...This bank and it's credit card processing services refunded my stolen funds after 6 monoths of communication with them. Under the law, the bank could not do what they did. My point is keep after it if you are one of their victims. It's worth it. I don't want to see anyone else ripped off and let this bank or their merchant services keep their money.

This bank tracks you in violation of your privacy and then makes decisions to block your bank access based on this tracking information.

Let's say that you use a computer at work to log into your bank account. Woodforest tracks your IP address. If your work computer has an IP address that Woodforest believes is an IP address that you don't have access to (because they think that since you live in Texas there is never a chance that you might have an IP address that shows a Louisiana location), they will block your online access, block your ATM card, and cancel any bill payments you made online and force you to go into the bank to prove that it was you who logged into your online account. Their online banking access requires two-step verification where you have to enter a code you receive by text. And even with this extra security feature, which no other bank that I know of has, they still think that your bank account is compromised if you don't log in with an IP address that they think you should be using.

Can you believe it? This has happened to me repeatedly. I have good credit and never had any problem with any bank in the past. There is nothing in my record that could make them think that they need to babysit me and track my every move.

And when they randomly decide to cancel your bill payments and you resolve this problem later, they approve your bill payments but only after the payments are already late; resulting in late fees only because this stupid bank thinks that since you live in Texas, your only IP address used should always show a Texas location.

Then I made a deposit with a pre-printed check from a national company. I have never had any returned checks or insufficient funds in the past. And they randomly blocked my access to the money for this check by accusing me of having many insufficient funds incidents in the past 6 months even though I never had one.

Then they refused to accept a check I deposited by phone and gave no reason. I had to inquire about this. And when I did, they gave me several different incorrect reasons why. 1st) I didn't sign it. But their instructions clearly do not instruct you to sign it. So when I pointed this out, they made up a second reason: I didn't put my account number on it. But I have never put an account number on it. Maybe the real reason why is that their computer showed that I deposited the check using an IP address that they assumed was not an IP address that I should be using.

This is the worst bank ever.

As of July 4, 2017, my bankbook showed a balance of over $400. July 5, 2017, I received several notices that I was over $400 in my account. July 6, 2017, I personally went to the bank. We found identity theft. The lady who worked there was polite and helpful. She informed me that it would take approximately ten days. A few days later, I received a letter from the bank giving me credit of $439.71 on my account to use until the investigation was completed. On July 30, 2017, I received a notice from the bank that I was minus over 129.00. On August 1, 2017, I went into the bank to dispute the account. The bank did not return my overdrawn charges, they went retroactive before the fraud was discovered, and after arguing with the employees of the bank for almost an hour, I decided to close out my account. It cost me $200.00 extra to close out my account. That brings a total of $639.71 they refuse to correct or give me. It's not going to break me, but it sure does hurt losing that much money, and they refused to further investigate what I was trying to tell them. I used simple mathematics to demonstrate how and why they were wrong. They continued to look and the screen and tell me that not all of those overdraft charges had to be honored. I'm a little miffed.

Woodforest has been my primary bank for 2 years now and I've never had a problem until 5/20/17. My check was deposited on 5/19/17 and everything was fine. I went to the store the next day and got a few items and 20 dollars cash back. I went to the ATM later to get cash out and I couldn't. My card kept saying declined and insufficient amounts. I called Woodforest MULTIPLE times and was given various "explanations" such as "I had exceeded my withdrawal allowance for the day" I have NEVER had that happen before and I drove to Walmart and went to the bank teller and got 200 dollars out from them. After that I checked my account and I still had 79 dollars in there. The next day I went back to the store and tried to make a purchase but, my card was declined AGAIN. I went to the ATM to check and my balance was -494,

now I do overdraft my account each check but, it's always paid back when I get my next check. Well, the bank was closed so I called them and they said it was a bank error and apparently I tried to withdraw 520 dollars the day before AND I DIDN'T! The lady on the phone basically told me "oh well, not my problem" I was furious, I couldn't even drive for a good 30 minutes. I got home went over all of my bank statement's and nothing adds up. I did not overdraft my account. After the overdraft fees from the previous check I still had 79 dollars in there and then suddenly I'm -494.

I went up to the bank today 5/21/17 and she told me that it's still pending and I can't file a dispute until it clears. That makes NO SENSE a withdraw doesn't sit there and pend it's taken out right then and there but, none of the tellers seemed to care. No one could tell me where the freaking large overdraft came from and on top of that I have several other pending transactions and I'm gonna be hit with 6 more overdraft fees. I shouldn't have to suffer because of a "bank error" nor be told that the banks hands are tied until it clears. A WITHDRAWAL SHOULD CLEAR AUTOMATICALLY! The fact is I still didn't make that transaction. I apologize if my explanation is all over the place but, I'm still so angry. It's not fair at all that I'm completely out of money and their is nothing I can do about it until it "clears."

I received my SSI check @ Helping Hands went to Walmart to cash my check @ the money center & they had a line longer than my arm & only one worker working & she was taking forever & I got tired of waiting so I went next door to WoodForest National Bank to cash my checks because I got 2 checks one from American Express Serve from Wells Fargo & my SSI check because I had an account @ American Express Serve & they stole 300.00 from me & I reported it which I'm doing a report on them next & they suspended my acct. & stole my money & I'm filing suit against them & seeking a class action suit on them which I'll get into next but anyway I got the check for 136.00 from them plus my disability check in the amt of 551.50 so I went to WoodForest National Bank to cash my checks & so I decided to open an account because otherwise they would've charged me 10. 00 total for both checks unless I opened an acct. then they would only need 25.00 to open the acct. so I went ahead & opened the acct. & put 50.00 in my new acct. they automatically took out 15.00 for the debit card then they gave me 2 checks & a debit card & had me fill out papers for the overdraft protection/rely loan so I signed the papers I was on the bus the next day & was clear across town eating lunch & they called to check up on me & see how I was doing & to tell me that I got approved for the Rely loan & to come in & sign the papers so mind you I was on South Grand @ BK & had to go to Walmarts on Dirksen with no car riding the bus & had to go all the way out to Walmarts which was no big deal I went out there to sign the papers then they told me that I had to wait 48 hours to get an approval once I got there so I went to Lake Victoria to get my apartment & was told I could move in today called today & was told I got approved but I had to wait till the 15th to move in because they was receiving my money from Sangamon County Community Resources on the 15th & mind you we are homeless until then unless I came up with 500 I'm now broke as I used all my money in the hotels & am at Liheap mercy so I called WoodForest National Bank to get my loan that they said I was approved for so I called to see how much I could borrow because I was going to get the 500 loan from them & pay for the apartment to move in there to get off the streets they lied & said I wasn't approved when they said before that I was approved so I called to get that money & was told that I was denied & they removed that Overdraft from my acct. I asked why they said I'd assume probably because you filed bankruptcy on us before & it got discharged. So I called to see how much I had in my acct. to pay for the hotel for tomorrow night & found out that my acct. # is wrong so now I have no way to pay for the hotel tomorrow I'm going to be on the streets until the 15th & nothing I can do about it. When I was promised the money & lied to & given the wrong acct. # & debit # on my acct. & couldn't find out how much I have in my acct. & have to sleep on the streets tomorrow until the 15th of May. Rip off company & everyone should know about WoodForest National Bank's tactics fraud, scam company.

Woodforest bank is complicit with it partner "Merchants Choice Payment Solutions Partners" in the Slamming of merchant processing accounts. Definition of Slamming: In the credit card processing industry "Slamming" refers to the practice of deceptively signing up merchants for unwanted services by posing as their current merchant account provider.

This activity has currently cost my company $520 and the cost continues to mount.`

I used a Woodforest Debit card to place an order on Amazon, December 22, 2016. The total charge was $768.19 Amazon pre-authorized the amount, and Woodforest place a "Charge Authorization" hold on the amount - making that money unavailable to me.

On December 23, I received notification from Amazon that my order was cancelled because of inventory availability.

On January 9, Woodforest was still showing a "Charge Authorization" on the money, and it was not available to me. At that time I telephoned Amazon and spoke to the Customer Service Mgr. Amazon sent me an email describing the transaction with authorization numbers, the Mgrs. direct telephone and email address, and the Mgr. clearly stated that the transaction had been canceled and that no charges would result.

I emailed that letter to customer service in The Woodlands, and spoke with a representative from Woodforest who stated that Woodforest policy is to hold that money for 30 days, and that "No letter from Amazon is going to change this policy."

Today is January 15, 2017 - 23 days after Amazon canceled the transaction, and the $768.19 is still unavailable to me because Woodforest will not release it, despite documentation.

Unfortunately, this is normal operating procedure for Woodforest. They're holding the money - unavailable to me - but they're able to earn interest from the "float" - interest that doesn't come to my account. I will NEVER use a Woodforest Debit Card for another transaction. The Financial Pirates at Woodforest are intent upon raking in as much income as possible at the expense of their customers.

I've researched Governmental actions against Woodforest and learned that one of the largest fines in regulatory history has been directed against Woodforest - a relatively small bank - for inappropriate banking practices by Woodforest.

Any other bank you choose would be a better choice than Woodforest.

Im on disability and am a victim of identity theft. I was paying my bills when I noticed my account was wiped out before I could pay my lights and mortgage. I called the bank and also went to have my account switched. I was told I was fine and it wouldn't happen again. Now I was told today that woodforest declined my credit and I needed a police report. I gave them the police report number and the report. Now they're telling me it could take over thirty days before anything happens. I now might get evicted and my lights are going to get shut off on Friday. All this bank could do was say wait. I'm in tears and don't know what to do. Woodforest don't care. This has been going on since April and all they can say is sorry.

I have been using Woodforest as my bank now for some time with a checking account, mainly because of their convenient hours and location (right up the street at WalMart), but this past week I made a mistake, and made a one-time online payment to my power company for more than I had in the account....

So, I got in contact with both the power company (worthless), and with the bank (also worthless apparently), and was told that the charge would be cancelled as soon as it was no longer Pending on my account. Alright, so far so good, but this is not what occurred, instead as soon as it was not Pending anymore the bank Rejected the transaction, and charged me an Overdraft penalty fee of $30. The result of this was that the transaction was never actually cancelled, and instead was rejected. So, I got it worked out with the bank to refund my penalty to the account, again so far so good. However, because the transaction was never actually cancelled, the power company came back 2 days later and tried again, and again overdrew my account severely.

I am now disgusted with this so called "customer service" provided by both organizations, and am looking forward to yet another overdraft penalty. It is too early to contact either of them now, but even if I do, they both obviously have no clue!!

After using Merchant's Choice for 3 years (the entire longevity of the contract) they automatically renewed my contract and continue to charge me after I am no longer using the credit card terminal. Not only am I not using it, I am no longer able to use it due to the fact that it was removed from my workplace where I rent space. After numerous attempt to get ahold of my "contact" Tiffany. I have been unsuccessful. She has called back a few times but I can never reach her even after waiting a long period of time. I then decided to give up on calling her and called a general number. That time I was transferred and had to leave yet another message. The owners of the salon that I rent space at have also tried to resolve this issue. They are experiencing the same thing. They even tried to speak on my behalf and we're simply told, "Have her call. We can't discuss her information with you." Since October 2015 when the terminal was pulled I have been charged $600.99 in fees for a terminal that I am not able to use. I am disgusted and do not know how to go about resolving this continual theft.
