WM Exchange Reviews

  • Sep 1, 2015

It didnt occur to me but I've just graduated college and have been submitting my resume to som many places with no interviews all summer. But recently, just this week, my friend suggested I try searching for jobs on ziprecruiter. That was the site where I found many jobs under 'entry level assistant manager', 'entry level accounts..." etc. Sounded like a good deal. I immedietely sent my resume to a lot of them. All of them had to do with marketing. Next day, my phone was ringing like crazy every 5 minutes. A lot of them from the same address: 27 William Street, New York, NY. All trying to cram the interviews Monday. Sometimes Tuesday. WM exchange was one of them. I was ecstatic. I scheduled an interview and they replied with a confirmation e-mail along with a list of articles on them to read to show off their "credentials". I didnt think to research the articles. I did find something off with one of them. There was an article among the few on their list titled something along the lines of "WM Exchange CEO Picks Up USA Sales Award" but in the article itself the 'CEO' Tommy Smith was referred to as 'manager' which is clearly a lower level job than a CEO. But I didnt think much of it at the time. Even when one of the links to other articles when clicked, showed a page telling me the page did not exist. I did wonder why a seemingly professional place would make a mistake of putting a link to a nonexistent page but quickly brushed it off.

When I was finally called by my interviewer, he called someone else's name with mine. He was going to interview both of us at the same time. I didn't think much about it because I've been in an interview for Victoria Secret about an year ago and they were doing group interviews. So I figured perhaps my interviewer is initiating a test of some sort. An interview competition. He said like the two other interviews I had before WM Exchange that day, that there would be a Three step interview process. The first interview being this one. The second interview, I would only get if they called back after the first. The second interview was conducted in the fashion that the person (or I, in this case) would be set up with one of their employees and I was to go around with them to witness how they go about their day at work at WM Exchange. For 8 hours. 9 AM to 5 AM. Didn't question that either because the two interviews before me said the same thing. I found my interviewer quite attractive so on my way home, I decided to search his profile up on linkedin. I thought I conducted my interview quite well that I figured I'd see him again. He did not exist. But from what I've gathered feom that interview, he was supposed to be a manager of some sort. So I tried to check for a WM employees list perhaps. I know companies don't list all their workers for the world to see but I figured they may have had something on managers. That was when I came across all the scam alerts and all the pieces came together.

He did not have a single business card holder on his desk. Every complaint was on not being promised what they were supposed to be given, such as a base pay and the actual position they applied for. Instead all they became were door-to-door sales people. That was what he meant by going 'out' for the second interview. I'm not even quite sure that is legal. Having a person take a whole day out of their lives to have a 'second interview' but really it is 8 hours of slavery for a job that the applier will or will not get, and according to reviews, is something people are better off not getting. I had also searched up the credentials of the 'news' sites the articles they e-mailed to me. Even those sites had 'scam' alerts all over when I googled them. There was also no such thing as the 'USA Sales Reward' that WM Exchange apparently won.
