I was hired at Windows Direct LLC for the purposes of building business, finding issues related to their first year mistakes in relation to the ordering of incorrect products for projects, and to observe installation personnel and report whether or not they were giving a full day’s work.
As I settled into the position, I began to learn that the owner, Kim Albright-Abreu did not even know standard size windows. I printed a chart so that she may educate herself as to what a standard size window was. For example, commodity size windows are a two part reference a 25 (two five, not twenty five) window is 37" x 63". I heard her reference a 24 window on the phone to a customer as a "twenty four" window.
Kim Albright-Abreu told me that in their first year in business that their installer had cost them over $30,000.00 with ordering incorrect products. He had been the employee that had been measuring and recommending what product to use on any particular project. It turns out that the installer is the husband of Ms Albright-Abreu’s high school friend. The business seems more like a “club” than a legitimate business.
I was given some folders of projects that had already moved forward in various stages. One project had a door that the installer incorrectly measured by 15 inches. Unfortunately, I did not catch the mistake made by the installer and incorrect product was ordered once again. I received the full consequences for the incorrect material.
Windows Direct LLC has been working in single family homes as well as multifamily buildings that were built prior to 1978. The EPA mandates that any work that is done on residences, schools, or public buildings that the residents or customers be notified of the possibility of lead contamination. In the situation of working in multifamily buildings, the EPA requires that ALL residents of the building be notified of the possibility of lead contamination and be conducted by a lead certified renovators who are trained by EPA-approved training providers and follow lead-safe work practices. Windows Direct LLC is NOT a certified renovator. Here are renovators that are certified.
It would seem to me that the residents of the renovations done by Windows Direct LLC should be checked for lead poisoning. It seems obvious that they have violated federal EPA regulations and there should be video proof, as they have done work in the common areas that have video surveillance cameras.
I was let go from the company because of my "lack of their expected qualifications" as told to me by Kim Albright-Abreu's brother. Mark Albright who is the owner/operator of Albright Construction in Lantana, Florida. Windows Direct LLC's owner, Kim Albright-Abreu has NO knowledge of products, procedures, or industry standards and because she undercuts her competitors, she epitomizes what is keeping legitimate companies who spend the money to keep consumer's safe and do quality work with the proper material that meets building codes.
