Willow Manor Retirement Living Reviews

My father in law was a resident here.. We chose this facility because it was less than a mile away from our home and it seemed like a good facility when talking with the administrators and visiting the facility. My father in law had Alzheimer's and was placed on the Alzheimer's unit. Initially the transition was smooth and going well. After one year we felt several red flags.. Working for a medical facility myself I was curious to all these EOB's arriving at our home for services I didn't feel he had done.. We were told a doctor came to perform services in house. We never gave authorization for doctors outside the facility to come and treat him. In fact we drove him to his appointments with the doctors he had been seeing for several years. Digging deeper into the EOB and doctors that had treated him, some of these doctors had their practice over 100 miles away.. One doctor was from Orlando! Shortly after we were asked to bring more clothing.. I understand that clothing gets soiled over time (especially in his state and could not be reused) however looking into their laundry room I noticed a pile the size of height of the room! Zero organization, just a pile of clothing hiding behind the door in major piles.. At this point I am thinking they are understaffed and cannot keep up with the laundry.. We actually dug through the piles to find his name on clothing to wash it at our home.

Our worst experience occured when we noticed his wedding ring, chain, and glasses were missing.. We were told residents occasionally gave it away or lost them.. In two years that he was there he never removed them. Not even for baths from the Aides.. Circumstances changed and we moved and wanted him close by.. We made arrangements to have him come with us. His other daughter in law packed all his belongings in a suitcase and had it ready for my husband. My husband flew down to pick him up and when he arrived the suitcase was missing.. When closing out our accounts and signing all the necessary paperwork we asked to retrieve the items in the lock box.. The lock box had his social security card, identification, and other documents and personal belongings. The lock box was EMPTY! It is now four years later.. His suitcase was never recovered nor any other personal belongings.. We were threatened with bills for medications that was also billed and paid for by his medical plan.. When I made verbal complaints about the double charges both on the medical and pharmacy side and lost items, we no longer received bills.. For his sake and the sake of other residents I wish I pursued everything more severely.. Unfortunately we were dealing with finding him a compatible residence near us and having amother child and moving.. This facility was good until we moved farther away.. When we could consistently check on care all was well.. The moment we moved farther all bets were off.. His other daughter in law voiced such contempt with lack of care and guidance that we couldn't bare to have him there any longer.. His Alzheimer's worsened three fold while here within a years time.. Horrible facility, horrible management, under staffed and questionable billing practices.. BEWARE!
