This company is a nightmare to work with. I started working with Rick Hubble at Wilderness Building Systems over 1 1/2 years ago to provide plans and a log cabin kit so I could build a cabin. The first year there were multiple excuses and errors on the plans he provided which resulted in my plans not getting approved by the local building department. When my plans were finally signed off by the county, even though they were still missing the detail pages to build, it was to late in the season and I postponed my build to the next spring.
Spring of 2020 I reingaged with Rick to get my plans finalized with a few minor changes to the basement structure of my plans which did not effect the cabin kit or material list. When it was time for my materials to be delived I was asked for more money and was told that the price would increase about 35% even though he advertises that if you give a deposit your price is set for three years.
I was then told that the material list I had didn't match the plans he provided. I was also told that he purchased material for my cabin kit that didn't match the plans he provided. In addition, I was told that there were several things that weren't included in my kit, like stairs, and log dormers and anything below the main level floor joist and that if I wanted those things I'd have to pay more.
He continued to pressure me to pay more money and I refused with receiving the completed detail for my plans and materials delivered. He then advised me that I should get my builder to buy the materials and he would credit me and that he wouldn't be buying any more material for my cabin kit. I asked for him to either refund my money or at least provide materials equal to the amount of money I had already paid. I was told that he would not refund my money and that I should take him to court.
