I wanted to rent a room for the summer of 2016 n Valencia, Spain, and I used the services of WIkiges, a local real estate company. After visiting the room I agreed on paying upfront 600 Euro (300 for the first month rent plus additional 300 as a deposit) before entering the room on the first day of June.
To my surprise, on the very first day I found the following issues:
1) The A/C was not working
2) the room was given to me filthy
3) The shower drain and the sink were both clogged.
When I called the manager (Juan) he didn't even have the decency to apologize to me. He promised that everything was going to be taken care of, but it didn't happen. He took care of the minor repairs, but the biggest one (the A/C not working) was not addressed. As he realized how much it would cost him to have it fixed/replaced, he simply ignored my messages, hoping that I would get used to it and stop complaining.
In reality I agreed on paying such a high rent exclusively for the air conditioning. The room was facing East, the sun hit it at sunrise and for most part of the day. In the monrning the room was nothing but an oven, and sleeping was impossible.
After a month of unfulfilled promises I contacted a lawyer and started a negotiation to lower the rent. I also asked him for a compensation for eveything I had gone through, but it was denied. At the beginning of July I waited for a few day before paying the rent because I was waiting to hear from my lawyer how much I had to pay. He pretended that didn't know what was happening and threatened me that he'd go to the police and file for eviction if I didn't pay immediately the 300 Euro.
After a long negotiation he accepted to lower the rent, but no compensation was given to me.
Juan, the manager is a very dishonest person, he lied to me in several occasions. He rented a room that supposedely had A/C built in, but that wasn't the case.
Also, he rents rooms for a very high price. He will ask for 230 Euro for instance for a room that is not worth more than 160 per month. It's an agency, so obviosuly it's more expensive, but where are the benefits, then?

I do not recommed using the services of Wikiges.
