White Diamond Jewelers (WDJ) is a jewelry store in the Mall of Georgia in Buford Georgia. I am unaware of whether there may be other locations. I entered the store on Saturday 2/25/17 seeking to repair a Pierre Cardin watch, Valued at about $1,000.00. The watch has stopped and was missing its crown and stem. WDJ informed me that they are jewelers and could repair the watch and would give an estimate on 2/27 or 2/29 2017.
I heard nothing from them so I went back to the store on 3/4/17 to discover they could not find my watch. I gave them: 1) their ticket number from the stub they gave me as a receipt, 2) the date the watch was given to them and 3) a detailed description of the watch. I stood there while they went through 100 or more envelopes to no avail. (They do not use computers. Everything is on paper and is very much disorganized.) It was finally concluded that my watch must have been shipped out to a repair shop in downtown Atlanta that they use. I was surprised that they outsourced the repair because they represented that they were jewelers and implied that they did their own work onsite. There was a man present who appeared to be working on something, perhaps jewelry.
In any event, on 3/4/17, I asked that my watch be returned to me fixed or not. They said I would have it on the following Monday (3/6/17). I called on Monday (3/6/17) but they still had no lead on my watch. (Remember, I gave them their ticket number, the date the watch was given to them and a detailed description of the watch.) Their response was that they needed a few days to get it for me. I told them that they said the same thing the previous week and I was getting nervous and wanted my watch back fixed or not. At that point, the attendant actually hung up on me. I called back and asked if he had hung up on me and he admitted that he had. I could not believe it.
My next step is to lodge a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and to file a lien on their business for the value of the watch and court costs. It is now 3/7/17 and I still have no watch and no call. I would stay away from these guys.
