I purchased a vacant piece of property. Diamond Title; an agent of Westcor Land and Title issued a clear title with an owners policy. I am a builder. I sold the lot to a buyer that contracted to build a residence. She was moving from California to Florida. We began the loan process and I cleared the lot, paid impact fees, permit fees and began construction. We then found out that there is an $870,000 lien against the property and the property was siezed by the Dept. Of Justice. Westcor was notified 6 months ago and they admitted to overlooking the lien on the property and agreed they were at fault. They do not respond and the property and the case is sitting dormant. I have hired an attorney, they do not respond. The buyer has been displaced from her home and we are both incurring costs that do not seem to be getting resolved.
Westcor issued clear title on the property. The title is not clear. The property has been paid for and is not buildable. I have incurred over $100,000 in expenses and there is no end in site.
