On 05/01/2017 i purchased a used 2007 season rat from west coast power sports. One of my main concerns was the ski breaking on me the first time i actually put it in the water since its at a dealer ship and you can't really test drive it. They told me not to worry about it that they would and i quote(take care of me if anything went wrong). So i took there word for it and purchased the ski with a new trailer and paid $6,591.62. i told mark my sales rep and Ben the center manager that i would be riding it for a few weeks because of my work schedule and they said again its fine we will take care of you if somethings wrong with it. So i took the ki home the next after noon after they cleaned it they said they did a full inspection it which gave me some peace of mind and said it passed with flying colors.
Well i finally got around to taking the jet ski out for the first time almost a month later when i was able to request a weekend off at work and after 2 hours of riding it it started to idle funny and wouldn't go over half of the max rims which was about 4k. so i took it to the dock and took it home. the next day i called power sports and they told me to bring it in that the'll take care of it. So i did after they had it for a few days they call me to tell me what happened, the seals went and the jet pump was ruined and a few other things that i honestly didn't understand. the service rep that was talking to me over the phone told me it would be about 620 dollars to fix it. i asked if i could talk to ben because it didn't make sense to me that i would have to pay for this when it wasn't a user error it was just a bad ski and if they had inspected it properly they would've caught that.
he tells me that nope regardless what he said if i wanted a warranty or something i should have brought a new ski and then offered to take 80 dollars of the repair cost at this point i was a little upset. i explained to him how can they do this when it wasn't my fault it broke. i only got to use it once for 2 hours it had 68 hours on the board and they said it didn't matter. then he asked what i wanted to be happy i told him well fix the ski like you said you would he aid that wasn't happening then i asked what if i do a supercharger rebuild and the service sense the ski was given to me with old oil and spark plugs they didn't even do a service on it and he said he would charge me full price for both of those services but because i was spending over 600 bucks on those two services he would bring the cost of the other repair down to be an even 1k. so i agreed it was either that or take my ski somewhere else and pay the full 620 for the repair. i don't think it was right i think they should have repaired that on there own expense and i still would have done the supercharge rebuild and service but saved a little over 300 dollars.
