My daughter, at age 10 lost *all* of her beautiful hair to this supposedly "natural", "gentle" Wen Cleansing Conditioner. (Sweet Almond Mint) After first use she began to shed rapidly. We didn't connect it to the product. On susequent usage, however, hair loss was instant and on contact. She even lost her brows and lashes over the next few weeks. (it was rinsed into her bath, so even though we didn't use much, it was a lot of exposure.) I even took her out of school because of her hair loss.
No advice, acknowledgment or anything from the company. They are mean, nasty, and unhelpful. They routinely lie to customers saying that they never heard of hair loss from their product, they must have a medical condition, try the "Cucumber Aloe" Wen formula they say. They will do anything to get people off the phone (preferably after an additional purchase) so as not to send them to the adverse event department. They didn't take my complaint the first time I called. Just pretended to take the lot number and told me I should throw it away if I don't hear from anyone. So, I believe there are 10-100 people for every one of the 21,000 complaints they owned up to! Even if you don't lose hair at first, doesn't mean you won't. Some can use it for weeks, months or years before they react, and once they do, the damage may be permanent. It is not worth the risk. There are plenty of cheaper, safer products available!
We thought this would be one time hair loss, but for my sensitive daughter, it has caused a much bigger problem, and nearly 3 years later, she still has not fully recovered and may never.
We are advocating for an update to our cosmetics laws which have not been updated since 1938! Here are links to her story on video. Please feel free to share her story.

My channel also has Wen and my daughter being discussed in a senate committee hearing. The FDA has no authority to issue a recall on personal care/cosmetic products, so this company is allowed to harm with impunity. They admitted to 21,000 to the FDA, and far more in court documents. The FDA has now received 3000+ reports directly to the agency, when they typically receive 300-400 reports a year for the *entire industry!*
I purchased the popular Wen by Chaz Dean haircaire kit in September, 2014 from www.wem.com. The kit included cleansing conditioner which ultimately caused my hair to fall out atthe follicle in mass amounts. I have lost over half the volume of my hair. now it is April, 2016. I used the wen cleansing conditioner without any hairloss problem until December, 2015 when my hair began shedding uncontrollably. leaving me with horrible thinning and bald spots.... I am in my thirties which makes this especially upsetting. The Chaz Dean Studio is located in Beverly hills on Fountian Street and he is also oening a salon in New York City, downtown Manhattan. He sells his products on QVC television as well as through the international marketing giant Guthy Renker.
After using WEN Cleaning Conditioner and Nourishing Mousse for only several weeks I noticed my hair was becoming dry and brittle and an abnormal amount of hair was breaking off and falling out. Also, my scalp was itching. I could not figure out why this was happening until reading about other people who experienced the same thing when using WEN products.
I am alarmed at the amount of hair I have lost. The hair shafts have become thin, like baby hair, and the hair on my crown of my head is thin enough in places to see my scalp. I have stopped using WEN and have gone back to using regular shampoos and conditioners from retail stores. I wonder whether my hair will ever grow back and become normal again.
I am writing just because I saw how many people have been through what I have with trying to receive my money back from the wen hair system product.
i purchased, I received damaged, I called, I asked for a "RAS" return authorization number, I was told by the 1st of 10 operators I spoke with, after explaining what an RAS was, wen does not do that. I shipped the product back, via ups to get a signature return and proof.
i called when I knew my return was received by wen, I was told that they do not and will not issue a return of monies for 90 days of ordering product. Which I believe is just flat out robbery to keep my money that I needed for 90 days because "it's policy" "read the fine print" I still don't think it's legal bit I'm not an attorney just a consumer.
I waited till the 90th day. then the fun of the run around started. I called, I would get a name, an operator number, write down date and time. Each and every time I did this little dance. The last operator, #10 stated they don't have operator numbers even though I had nine, I didnt count her so I spoke to 11 operators.
Each time with 11 people I would give, and have to fax my proof of return to them and still, no credit was issued to my card.
it took me 7 months and endless phone calls, faxes proving I sent the damaged product.
i did not receive a credit until I threatend to arbitrate my credit card, contact the better business bureau.
Bottom line. The mere customer service training situation should be looked into by someone. The business practice of keeping funds for 90 days, read the fine print.
this company will steal your money if you do not do what I did. Run around and around and around. Good times. That's sarcasm...
