I am a parent who was trying to give my son the best opportunity to get noticed by college recuiters and coaches. We were at a big show case AAU basketball tournement in Myrtle Beach a couple of years ago and I filled out this form from this recruiting agency that suppose to help build a players profile that would be sent to colleges and coaches. Some months went by then I received this email from Web Star Recruits founder Joe Ryan say ing they could help my son get recruited.
Quite natural I was a little skeptical of this email but I called him anyway hoping it was legitt. He explained to me what they do and how he could get my son recruited to some college. He said they normally charge $1000 but he could give me a discount and drop it down to $800 I told him that it was to much for me so he dropped it down to $500. I should have known better when he was dropping the price. I told him that I wasnt sure about what he said they could do so over the next coulpe of weeks we would talk or he would text me. Then he said he could let me do a trial run by sending 10 colleges my sons profile and video for $100 just to see the response that he would get.
So we worked out an installment plan for two payments of $50 thru pay pal, but after the payments nothing happened when I would call him he was always busy and he said he would call me later but never did. This went on for a while then I reported the incedent to pay pal and being it wasnt an item sold and just a money transaction there wasnt anything they could do about getting my money back. I also contacted the BBB and they couldnt help because web star recruit wasnt registered with them. So I am putting their name out there to keep people people from getting scammed like i did.
