I received a call from a rep from Waypoint Vacation saying I had won a free trip to Hawaii. I had filled out a ballot at anothe trade show. To receive the travel vouceher to Hawaii I had to attend a "travel show". I had received two phone calls and two texts within 36 hours to register for this show. I already knew that something wasn't right. When I got there today, I was first seated with a sales rep who tried to get to know me after filling out a questionnaire. I then had to sit through a one hour sales pitch given by an elderly british woman who showed us the benefits of investing in a Co-op travel company that takes your money as an RRSP with tax deductions. The prices were unrealistically low...$150-$300 per week for hotel/condo stay in many places around the world. If it is too good to be true...it is fake. We were to sign on the spot in order to get the best deal. No chance to take the info and get advice from accountant or financial advisor. I told my sales rep i have no interest in signing on the spot. He tried to woo me with fancy figures that he had memorized. I told him I wasn't signing and wanted my free voucher. He then presented me with another form/waiver to initial and sign to agree to things about the voucher that I hadn't even read. I told him ...not interested...and walked out. The whole thing was a scam. Beware. If it is too good to be true...walk away. However, they must sucker stupid people in to their scheme as they are very smooth operators. Waste of two hours but glad I could try to expose these scam artisits.
Crazy
Everyone should know that a free giveaway or a trip is a scam. What's worse that any high pressure sales job is also a scam. Then selling you a $500 abandoned time share for $20,000 takes the cake. Who cares about the tax as you will probably have CRA knocking at your door like the 3 other similar scams this Founder has pulled along with losing his Lawyers Licience.
This is Scam of Scams worse than getting suckered into timeshare. A few of us bought in at the beginning and was promised the world including our cash back in 5 years. Well we recieved nothing and now are legally fighting. They buy $500 / share timeshare that is abandoned and sell to suckers for $20,000+.
The founder did this prior with a Wine Club Co OP. And also another Tax Shelter Time Share Deal. All lost their money as inevitable. Anything can go into a Co OP and any Co OP can qualify for your RRSP. Founder has scammed 3 times before and this is his 4th similar scam. "Too good to be true .......well.
Cancelled our membership but did not get the money back!!! If there is a 0 star, I would give it a 0 for causing as grief the past few months.
I wish to comment on the February 11, 2018 report filed by this person named Ayshi. My name is Bruno Giurlando and in February 2018 I purchased the vacation plan offered by Waypoint Vacation Co-op. I have had the opportunity to read both reports filed on this site - the first in January 2018 and this second report in February 2018. Both reports are from Brampton and according to my research appear to have been instigated by a Brampton travel company that services the Indian communities in the district of Brampton. In this respect, the complaints stem, if not directly, certainly through the intervention of a competitor that is apparently threatened by this vacation co-operative that is regulated by the Ontario government.
Preliminarily, I would like to state that I consider the January anonymous report and the Ayshi report to constitute unsubstantiated and libelous comments that should not be published. I have already recommended to the executive of Waypoint Vacation Co-op that they should initiate legal action against this website for permitting and publishing unsubstantiated comments and for failing to supervise and edit the contents of its commentators. The name of the website itself is libelous in that it connotes the commission of a fraud. Readers should note that effective 5/24/2018, consumers located in the European Union are prohibited from using this site. Obviously, the European Union has deemed this site to be libelous and untrustworthy and has prohibited its members from using it.
This website is based in the United States and is a commercial enterprise with profit as its motif. It permits anyone to bad mouth legitimate companies in order, to receive large sums of money from these companies if they wish to have the false reports investigated and removed from the website. This is not a consumer watchdog, and no one should be fooled by reading these unsubstantiated reports.
Ayshi states that his in laws almost purchased the plan and membership so he has had no personal contact with the Waypoint company. If this company was not legitimate, the Ontario government would not have permitted its existence. As a co-operative, the company is regulated by the Ontario government and is a member of the Ontario Co-operative Association. If anyone has any questions regarding the legitimacy of the company and the product it offers, they can certainly contact the provincial co-operative association to check on the status of the company, rather than listen to unsubstantiated gossip of lowlifes such as these commentators.
I also find it very offensive that the commentator has made a character attack on a management staff, not ever having met the person or having had any contact with this company. I have met Mr. Cecil Hendrix and hold him in very high esteem, as I do the members of the company's executive. I have no doubt that Mr. Hendrix was the subject of institutional bias and the victim of jealousy and envy from less competent and successful competitors who wanted to see him down and out. My question is how did Mr. Ayshi come to know of Mr. Hendrix's name since Mr. Hendrix would not have had any dealings with his in laws? This suggests that this commentator is none other than a competitor of some type who is threatened and wishes to damage the Waypoint company.
Obviously there is an ulterior motive behind this report. This is not an uninterested commentator. Further, to suggest that there are hundreds of RCI unsatisfied Platinum members is also misleading. RCI is the biggest travel wholesaler in the world. It has over 5 million member-families in its portfolio and books over 30 million vacations per year. This is no small number. And even if there are a few hundred complaints in the arsenal of 30 million bookings or 5 million members, that figure would prove to be minimalistic or miniscule in the overall picture.
Moreover, it should be noted that RCI has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), which proves that all complaints received by RCI have been resolved satisfactorily. Other major companies and banks such as Walmart, Shopper's Drugmart, TD, CIBC, etc., have ratings ranging from C to F, and they still retain our trust and confidence. To suggest that Waypoint Vacation Co-op should not be trusted because the product it retails concerns membership in a company (i.e., RCI Platinum Membership) that in fact has an A+ rating with the BBB, the most reliable consumer watchdog in the world, is preposterous to say the least.
These two individuals who have posted reports against Waypoint on this site are completely uninformed and fail to report the entire picture. As I have indicated, I registered and became a new member of Waypoint Vacation Co-op this past February. In exchange for my membership, I received shares in the co-op, which entitled me to a tax credit of $3,000, and I was issued an RRSP certificate equivalent to the value of my membership shares, which also entitled me to a further tax credit. None of this is mentioned in these reports which indicates to me that these commentators and their family members are so unsophisticated as to fail to appreciate the benefits received here.
Why is none of this mentioned? They suggest the cost of the membership to be 20K but do not mention the rebates or tax credits of 10K. This shows how devious and conniving they are. The product offered here is not simply a vacation plan, and further this is not a vacation club. Let's get that straight. Further, neither commentator has listed their name. The January report is written anonymously, and this February report gives no family name. I have listed my full name and stated that I am a very satisfied and appreciative member of Waypoint Vacation Co-op and RCI. I do not hesitate to recommend this company, and anyone who wishes to contact me is free to do so.
This company is a total scam.Steer clear. The BBB link is a fake website not affiliated with the actual Canadian BBB. You will never get what you pay for.
We bought into Waypoint a couple of years ago. We were able to use our points twice for vacations. Although both trips were enjoyable we now have 0 points available to us for 2020/2021 as Waypoint has not paid this year’s dues as they claim some of their executives have stolen their money. How can all the members communicate to see what options are available to us to recoup our investments?
This company and the slick presentations it makes is total Bull. We now have one customer who has a judgement against the company in an Ontario court for a refund of fees. This establishes a clear precedent, and what we are trying to do now is get enough customers together to launch a class action lawsuit for return of our money. Post your complaints here and we'll try and contact you somehow, or give you a link to another site where we can communicate.
How can we get in contact with you? We bought in a few years ago and have been able to use our points for 2 vacations but now we have no RCI points for this year and cannot get in contact with anyone at Waypoint as their phones have been cancelled.
We bought in a couple years ago and were able to travel twice using our RCI points. Both trips were enjoyable but now we have no points for 2020/2021 and the phones have been disconnected at Waypoint. How can we get together to pursue this as a group?
I've read the other scamion here about this company, and my experience is exactly like the majority of them... Extremely bad. They promise you a holiday gift package to listen to their presentation, then you never get that gift, or, like us, you do get it and find out that the hidden fees make it too expensive to use. I have some experience with these packages, since i once worked with a company that offered these as incentives to take some action - we bought the packages on the internet by the hundreds for about $20 each.
But that's not the real problem, the real problem is that their slick presentation is a combination of misinformation and missing information. In the final analysis, the vacation packages they offer can, most often, be had cheaper as all-inclusive packages through travel agencies. We looked for over a year and never found a destination where it made sense to use the company's package. The savings are a myth.
I used to think we were maybe the only ones who felt this way, but no more. One customer has recently gotten a judgement against the company and its owner in an ontario court, ordering a full refund of fees. So there is a precedent in which the company has been found guilty and ordered to refund the customer's fees. The owner is currently set to go back to court claiming he cannot refund the money because the company is bankrupt and has no money.
What i do not know at this point is whether or not the company is still selling their packages even though the owner has declared in a court of law that they are bankrupt. They do not answer their phone or respond to my emails asking for a full refund. Likely their activity has been halted because of the covid 19 pandemic.
I'm now in the process of trying to organize a class action lawsuit against the company. If anyone reading this is interested in helping with that venture, please respond here and we'll find a way to communicate directly.
Joining Waypoint was the worst decision we ever made. The incentive for listening to their slick presentation was a few days in a hotel in Hawaii. By the time we added up the costs for this "free" trip we decided it was just too costly, so declined to go. Then, with promises of great savings on each trip, we bought the Waypoint membership. That was over a year ago now, and we've been looking at possible trips and cruises ever since. So far everything we've found can be booked a lot cheaper as an all-inclusive package through any travel agency. On top of that we've just got an email from RCI, the company used to book the resorts, stating we haven't paid the assessment fees for our resort, so our account is frozen (We do not own any resort), so even if we could find a good price at a resort we couldn't use the Waypoint system to book it. All attempts to contact Waypoint have failed. We're now thinking of hiring a lawyer to try and get our money back.
A one-star rating is really a joke, but the lowest I could go. They get NO STARS from me, I think the whole thing is a scam.
HI
I am a waypoints customer, and like everyone who buys into a vacation package there is always scepticism, that is not unheard of.
I was the worst skeptic and I can honestly say without a doubt that Waypoints have always been there and took care of all of my concerns. Sometimes above and beyond. They take the time to answer all of my questions and I have had several wonderful vacations with them. It is unfortunate that instead of asking questions and listening to the answer form the people that have them, people automatically go to the negative. I call it Gaslighting. (Look it up on the internet) competition do it.
Waypoints get a 5 star rating from me, and believe it or not I am a worst skeptic than you could ever imagine
Total bullshit
