I knew Walter Yafuso from East Region LA Church of Christ. We also went to Cal Poly Pomona. We graduated near the same year around the year 2000.
He became a broker with the MONY group. I heard him speak about an investment he is involved with. I liked what I heard so I inquired about it.
I ended up investing with him over a period of time from around the year 2002 to 2010. By the end of it all I had given him $120,000. It turns out he spent it all on his family and personal bills.
I have won a civil suit against him for a $125,000. In coming forward I was able to learn 2 other mutual friends were also victims. He stole $30,000 from one. The other he opened phony credit cards in their name and ruined their credit.
I have been unseuccessful in collecting from him as he has not had documented income since the year 2000. I suspect he is still up to his old tricks and I wrote this report in hopes of newer unknown victims find this as I will be willing to testify against him in criminal court.
One of my regrets was choosing the civil route as oppossed to the criminal route. I was just discouraged from the criminal process as when I went to the police I felt discouraged from filing a complaint as I was told I needed more evidence.
I thought my evidence was strong. I had multiple victims willing to also join on the complaint. I also had him sign a confession with a state licensed notary present. She was shocked that he signed it as she notarized it as a witness.
Around 2009 he also promised me a job with Avis as he stated he became a Area Manager. I quit my job of 9 years to get the job he is hiring for. As I uncover his fraud I also uncover that he never worked for Avis car rentals. So I cannot still figure out why he had me quit my career job. I have not had a job as good since then and my life has been stressful to say the least. Life has been rough as I even have night tremors and anxiety disorder.
Lastly I have even tried to settle the civil suit at pennies on the dollars just so I can get on my feet.
