Vonage holdings they call everyday i block the number and they call back from another diconnected number.. they say about student loans then they change the company name and call back again.
Starting in early December 2017 I was having trouble with a Vonage phone number forwarded to my cell phone. (my Vonage number had been forwarded to my cell phone for over 6 years). The problem was that when someone called the number it wasn't ringing and the caller was getting a message that my voice mail wasn't set up (it had been for all the years I had Vonage). Multiple contacts with the company's customer service and technicians resulted in new and different problems but no resolution of the original one.
Finally I requested that my case be escalated to a higher level of technician and it was. BUT, they had been given the wrong problem. I explained what the problem was and then didn't. hear from them for days. When they finally got back to me they announced that the problem had been corrected. It wasn't. Then I started getting emails saying "We have resolved your issue or requested additional informtion but have not received a response from you." Wrong on both counts. The issue wasn't resolved and I had been responding. I even sent them copies of emails I received from people who were trying to reach me unsuccessfully. The solution one of the techies offered was to stop forwarding my number to my cell phone.
In desperation I wrote to the CEO, Alan Masarek. No response, no acknowledgement. That's when I knew I had to dump Vonage and get another voip provider which I did. That led to the second part of this complaint - theft of my payment.
Because I was porting my number from Vonage to the new company, it took some time, more than the 7-10 days the new company projected. When it was finally completed, it was effective several days into a new Vonage billing cycle. Vonage had been paid 4 days earlier. THEY WILL NOT ISSUE A REFUND. So, I'm paying for a service I will not be receiving. When I commented on this to the customer service person their snotty response was: "Read the terms and conditions."
Vonage is a sneaky, underhanded company. They advertise their residential "service" as $9.99 per month. In all of the years that I was a customer, I NEVER PAID THIS AMOUNT. It was always $17 or $18 plus change. A further illustration of Vonage's sneaky, underhandedness: when I called to terminate my account with them, I was told they still had my phone number and it would be a good idea not to terminate for several days - just to be sure. I re-confirmed with the new company that the porting had been completed successfully. So, while Vonage may or may not have still had my number, it was clear that they were untruthful and stalling.
Vonage forged electronic agreements which I knew nothing about, and stole $160 out of my bank account. Huntington Bank will corroborate this, and I have documentation. Vonage is a criminal company, run by criminals. Don't take my word for it, it's all over the Internet, they've been sued by everybody. If you must deal with these people, pay them by check, and/or check your bank statement monthly. Greed is destroying this country; and the government needs to take over (nationalize) the telecommunications industry. Write your Congressman. (if he's a Republican, don't waste your time!)
Previously, Vonage was automatically charging my account every month without my consent and said that their sytem automatically charges your card and that is the only way that they can pay you. My bank Regions Bank does not block reoccuring charges, which was causing me to go into debt due to me already have standard overdraft protection on my card. Even when I cancelled it, Regions Bank will not block reoccuring charges. A customer service representative told me Vonage have to be lying about that is the only way customers can pay their bill. Customers should be allowed to pay Vonage via checks, manually with cards, money orders, over the phone; etc.
When I spoke to a supervisor at Vonage about this, he explained to me that their system automatically charges your card every month and the only way to block it is to put another card on file. I gave him an old card of mines to put on file. Then, it started automatically charging it, but I knew no charges would be made because there is no balance on tha card. I started manually paying them online with my Regions Bank Visa Debit Card. My issue with this complaint is that I received a bill from Vonage on 03/29/2018 billing me for $18.97 via e-mail. I paid the bill on 03/30/2018. When I went to my online account to pay the bill, I noticed that they stated that I owed them $36. That contradicted the bill that they just sent me via email the before that. I put in to make a one time payment on my Regions Bank Visa Debit Card of $18.97.
I was going to call them to ask about the $36 charge after I paid them $18.97. I noticed that a got two email confirmation from them of me paying them $18.97. They automatically took $18.97 from my card. They obviously had it rigged to take $36 regardless of how much that I put in to pay them. I called customer service at Vonage about this on 03/30/2018. The male customer service representative realized that it was an error on their end and said that I could either have the bill and amount paid for next month's bill or they could refund my money. I told them that I wanted them to refund my money because I needed it, which I do. He told me that it will take 3-7 business days. I called back on 04/03/2018 asking them about this and this woman customer service representative told me that it have not been 7 business days and I will have to wait.
Today, on 04/06/2018, my money is still not in my account. I have filed a complaint against them with the Better Business Bureau & am in the process of filing a dispute with my bank against them about this. I just called Vonage before writing this report and this male customer service representative is giving me weird crazy excuses rather than telling me why he cannot refund my money or whether or not they are going to refund my money. They are obviously trained to lie and play game with customers & have their systems rigged to automatically charge customers & automatically double charge customers. This is probably why they do not have their address listed on their website.
I am retiring and moving out of country so need to cancel my Vonage phone service. They say online they won't take cancellations except by phone. I called five times this afternoon and was hung up on five times after I explained that I needed to cancel. This evening I waited 1 hour and 20 minutes to speak to cancellations, and kept being passed from sales to tech support, whose agents all said they could not cancel the account and they would have to transfer me. In the end, the tech support fellow just hung up on me again. How can I cancel?
They toldme the cost per month would be 21 dollars a month and i said ok ill go with that , and the rep from vontage said it has to be debit or credit so i gave him my debit card number and he took 50 dollars out my bank it overdrafted me and so i called vontage back to have them correct it , they said it wasnt them and that i never called them to set up a wifi account with them
Vonage is a criminal company with a long history of criminal actions. Don't take my word for it, it's all over the Internet. They forged an electronic agreement to get into my bank account, and stole $165, I've contacted them of course, and they refuse to return the money.
I was never notified of the higher charges or authorized them in any way. This is widely known as the TIME WARNER BUSINESS MODEL, if you just steal a little at a time, nobody's going to do anything. Sleazy telecommunications companies like TW and Vonage do this constantly. (The government needs to nationalize the telecommunications industry.)
Vonage is a sleazy, lying, cheating criminal company, do business with these people at your own risk.
Wow.. Where do I begin.. Let's start with their horrible service! Every call I made sounded like someone underwater..
Next: Horrible customer service: Called to complain & cancel their service... Said I had to pay a early termination fee. Thought I could change my payment method to a prepaid GreenDot card as I wasn't going to pay for this horrible service that I could not and did not use and wasn't going to pay an early termination fee... They ended up using my PayPal account I had given them from a previous time I used their service (when it actually worked).. Ended up charging me nearly $200.. I'm quite upset as their service was supposed to be only $9.95 per mo.
Billing: They charge almost as much in their FEES as they do for their service (When I called some taiwanese individual tried to inform me that these were TAXES... This is when I informed him that Vonage cannot collect these TAXES as they are not an actual TELECOM.
In the end PayPal (AKA Bloodsuckers from Hell) decided to approve their charges even after I filed a dispute and removed all banking information from PayPal..
VONAGE REFUSED TO SEND ME A BILL - HAD REPEATEDLY TRIED TO CHARGE MY BANK CARDS... THEY ENDED UP MAKING 3 CHARGES IN 1 DAY...
RUN - DON'T WALK, JUST RUN... THESE PEOPLE ARE HORRIBLE!
I used Vonage for a little over 3 months then cancelled because the service was terrible. I had to keep haning up my phone and call the person back because they could not hear me talk, or there was a bad connection. Never once did they say anything about a disconection fee when they were signing me up OR when I cancelled their service. Remember people you get what you pay for and $10.00/ mth doesn't get you much with this company
