I am writing about my 2006 Beetle Convertible. This car should have been total recall. I was always under the impression the VW made quality automobiles but now I think my great grandson could make a` better car with Legos. Below are issues I have had and still are having. I have only 135k mileage. In my opinion 90 percent of these items should have never happened.
Transmission—erratic shifting * Car was taken to deal under warranty but said nothing wrong.
Catalytic converter—replaced
Both front axles—replaced
Glove compartment handle broken—cost $350.00 *
AC compressor replace
Secondary Air Pump replace
Floor mats discontinued *
Door panel discontinued if available $ 900 *
Driver’s side window regular replaced
Window door switch for top drop down *
Driver’s side seat belt buckle switch *
Arm rest lid broken *
Windshield washer tubing broken *
Fuse block on top of battery—replaced
Light bulb for AC/Heater controls broken *
Radio single CD player broken *
Both tail light need replacing, tail light bulbs burned socket *
Truck gasket ripped both sides. *
Steers worse than a truck. I have driven a 36 passenger bus that steers easier than this Beetle.
Windshield and rear window on inside because of design almost impossible to clean
*Not repaired or replaced because of cost or discontinued item
