Volkswagen Group of America Reviews
I leased a 2019 Black Volkswagon Tiguan SEL MOTION 4 ON 9/21/2019.
I've had a multitiude of issues since the car was delivered. It's been the worst customer service experience dealing with Volkswagon of America and they must be held responsible for delivering a car with a plethora of issues.
I went directly to Volkswagon of America's Executive Offices to explain the issues my vehicles was having and that I should not be leasing a poorly assembled vehicle.
I went to three different service centers over the past two months. One I had gone to on two different occasions.
Issues:
1. The first VW service shop: couldnt find anything wrong with the vehicle, HOWEVER, all tires were low in tire pressure w various weights and they noticed all fluids were NEVER top.
2. Left tire light has now appeared four different times, hearing steering wheel noise, monitor flickers sometimes when connected to car.
3. All Weather Tire: I personally had to drive to a tire shop as the service center I had visited did have the tire in stock and could not patch it. Very dangerous driving 30 miles to replace the left back tire.
4. Took the SUV into the third service center. Explained the vehicle still had tire light issues, steering wheel noise, navigation was flickering with iphone, heat wasnt coming out of the vent as this occured three times while driving. They added more air to the tires but stated it is standard to see this occur on an ongoing basis. I wasnt happy, as they just wanted me to reset the light and that wasnt happening.
The heat issue they could not duplicate.
The steering wheel noise they heard but needed to add parts, so i needed to reschedule.
Service Manager was upfront and mentioned that the blinking of monitor does occur and that i may have to delete various apps from my phone for it to work.
I rescheduled for the next week as they were going to fix the steering wheel issue and look into all the other issuses. They attempted to fix the steering wheel, yet, just a few days and it was making a similar noise.
I have been in touch with executives from Volkswagon of America for several months. I did everything they had asked. Went on four appointments for the service and kept them in the loop the entire time. The same issues still remain and I am done missing work time and I am fed up.
Today, I woke up and drove my neice to school and immediately a yellow/orange light with a question mark appeared w another light on the dash.
I want this vehicle returned. Its a lemon and VW of America is literally doing nothing to help me. I've had a enough. This vehicle has issues and I bought a new vehicle, not one off the used car lot!
It's been extremely stressful as they have literally treated me like a number not a client.
I am beyond unhappy and want this resolved immediately!
I want my 4 payments back and downpayment returned. They should than take the vehicle back from me.
My Situation: Recently experienced my vehicle had shifted gears in motion while driving on city streets. In May, 2017 I parked the vehicle due to the safety hazards of driving the vehicle. VW refused to take responsibility, even though I had repeatedly taking the car into the dealership on multiple occasions wherein the ABS/Check Engines lights came on.
Also, had brought up the issue of the vehicle having trouble switching to reverse from a parked position while I was at the dealership for service. ** Note: VW refused to repair the issues "Free of Charge" as stated in recall reports. And that I'd have to pay for inspection by a dealership. Since I'm 'out of warranty', I'm sure they'd charge me for the service as well.
In addition, there was no 'Open Inspections' done to look into any recalls before my purchase of the vehicle as a "Pre-Owned Certified" vehicle from the VW dealership.
This was in Dec. 2010. ** I’m sure there’s several vehicles labeled as “Pre-Owned Certified", outside of my GTI make and model, that have or being sold without checking for recalls. Is this possible fraud during point-of-sale? Vehicle: 2009 Volkswagen GTI RZEV 2-Door Automatic Engine: 2.0L 14 FSI Assembled in Germany
This vehicle was manufactured in Wolfsburg, Germany prior to sending it to he United States and checking it for “Pre-Delivery Inspection” on 10/31/2008 in Los Angeles, CA. I purchased this vehicle on 12/16/2010 with 13,745 miles on the odometer as a “Certified Pre-Owned Volkswagen” from Livingston Volkswagen (Woodland Hills, CA).
This vehicle has shown symptoms of the recalls for similar vehicles. The vehicle was manufactured in the same manufacturing plant as the recalled vehicles and I purchased it after the first recall was issued. Volkswagen has said there are no recalls for the vehicle above. Here are the recalls for similar vehicles: NHTSA Vehicle Safety Recalls
When the mechanic brought me my car the car after he claimed he had repaired the brakes but the engine was now missing badly. I immediately retrieved the mechanic and he said, without using the computer, I should drive my car over the weekend and it may "work its problems out” and to bring it back in Monday. Before I could leave their property the engine light came on I returned and showed this problem to the mechanic, He repeated his previous comment. When I drove it home the engine light continued to display. I woke up the next day the light was now "blinking” so I took it to and they used their computer to indicate that there was a bad engine coil on cylinder number 5. I printed as much as I could and also found as much about the bad coil on my computer about this problem. I took it back to the shop and they replaced the engine coil and my car ran well until this week. Research on my computer and informed me that CW is aware of these bad engine coils and that I should expect to have another coil problem, as the burn out within a few months.
Well, last week my engine began to run roughly once again so I suspect the bad engine coil has returned. CW recalled all of the cars between 2001 -2003 for bad engine coils, but they should have also included the 2004 models. Persistently bad manufactured VW engine coils are the company’s responsibility not that of the customer’, this is a VW production problem which they were aware of!!! REPLY EUgene Broyls July 17, 2018 at 11:03 am Your comment is awaiting moderation. PS I called Volkswagen in Orland Park Ill yesterday. The woman who answered my call told that the representative was busy but leave my name and phone number on his voice mail and he will return my call. That was prior to 5PM and they close at 9PM After 4 hours I never received a call and today is yet another day and I still have not received a reply from this dealer REPLY NTB Offers an unacceptable "Token $20 gift certificate" for $10,000 damages done by their mechanics
NTB in Matteson rippedme off!
They misadjusted my cam shaft and now itis costing me$1000 to have it repaired by VW
The NTB mechanics wee supposed to repair my front brakes ( which wer still on thier warranty) and when my car was rerurned to me , withiiut the mechanic sayng a word) the engine was backfiring as one cyliner wasinoperative. The NTB mechanic told me to drive my car over the week end bbut before I couldleave teh engine lgith came on and he said drive it even though he never putit onteh dianostic computer. On Sunday I reurned to NTB and was told by oneo the front couner men not to drive the car for not wth elgith was blinnking.
I went to they put thier computer on (for free) and tld me that my coil on eh 5th cylinder was burned ou
I reurned to NTB with as much information that I could find on my computer regarding a cuntrnedour coil on the engine and they replaced the coil and the ngine ran OK for a few months. NTB told me that they did not have a compueter for my VW. ?he engine began missing again. I could not longer trust NTB so I took it to VW and they diagnosed my car to have a bad cam adjuster which could have been caused by the NTB mechanci since my car only has 39,000 miles.
I tried speaking to the NTB mnager but he left me and did not return.
I wrote to NTB Corp and they responded by writing that they wre going to send me a "tijeb $20 gift certificate" for their ill-mannered mechanics and serious problems I had! A "%20 token coupon" does not begin to help me pay for the $10,000.00 worth of damages done by their employees!!!
VW Jetta with 100,000 miles suddently stopped running. Tried to start our parked car, but wouldn't start. Had it towed to a VW dealership and that experience was a nightmare. They ended up quoting us over $7k for a new engine. Why does a car with only 100k miles need a new engine when it's been serviced/maintenanced on time (and at VW dealership service centers). The car did not show any signs anything was wrong; no warning lights, it was driivng normally. Thank goodness it happened to a park car. What would have happened if the engine suddently failed without warning while driving? Shame on VW for not putting its customers first. I don't know where the integrity/transparency, customer focus, and safety/reliability have gone... Will never buy Volkswagen again.
Why I will never own a VW again.
Part 1 :
I went to a local dealership that I knew well and thought I could trust to purchase a VW Tiguan. The sleezy finance person pulled the worst type of bait and switch and ended up leasing me a car I didn't even want with the worst possible terms. He gave me less then 70% of the real KBB value for my trade in and wrote the worst contract possible. I signed it, so it was my fault for thinking I could trust this company that I knew. I wont mention their name because they admitted guilt and gave me some money back after I complained 100 times but still doesn't change how VW & their dealers do business.
Part 2 :
However, a year later, the 2015 VW Tiguan was being driven by my wife. The breaks completly failed and thankfully she was driving very slowly in a parking lot. She drove it into a tree in order to stop in because there was zero response form the breaks.
There were witnesses in the car to what happened and no matter how many many time she hit the brakes, flat to the floor, it just rolled forward.
We immediatly contacted VW, who refused to look at it and said we have to get it repaired by the insurance company before they would investigate. This made no sense because how could they see the problem, after it was repairs. I fought with them and after 20 phone calls with supervisors and maangement I agreed to take it to get repaired.
I then called them and he told me to drive the car 30 miles to a dealership and they would be waiting with a loaner car and mine would be inspected. I arrived at the dealership and they knew nothing about it and had no loaners. They also told me, exactly what I suspected, that they couldn't do anything anyway because it's been repaired.
Back and forth with VW did nothing and their attitude was basically that it's fixed now, so you're good. They refused to do anything else, or even appologize for screwing me around with taking this to a dealership that they hadn't even spoken to.
My wife is terrified of the car and doesn't even drive it. We literally have a $299 a month leased car sitting in a garage. I can't get rid of it because how badly I was screwed over by the dealership and it has no resale value because everyone has figured out that it's a really shitty car.
So bottom line
Terrible / borderline criminal dealers.
Downright dangerous vehicles with major mechanical flaws
Terrible VW backup or support after a serious accident involving their defective vehicle
VW management purposfully made me repair evidence, so they could avoid responscibilty without even inspecting the vehicle.
VW... Never again!
