The issue is that Vivint Solar refuses to completely process the payoff of solar panels which they installed on top of a private resident. The situration is that I purchased a home which the former owners had a power purchase agreement with Vivint Solar. As part of the sale, the escrow company sent a check to Vivint Solar to pay-off the agreement. Vivint Solar cashed the checked and I have spent the next 17 months communicating with them trying to get them to aknowledge that the panels are paid off. They refuse to submit any documentation confirming that the panels are paid off. Today, I obtained a title report as part of my mortgage refinance that shows that Vivint Solar still has a lien on my house for panels which were paid off 17 months ago.
I am not sure what scam they are running that requires them to not aknowledge that the panels are paid off or to remove the lien. But my advise to anyone wishing to purchse solar panels, is to not use Vivint Solar as their practices are unethical and will cause you effort when they refuse to remove liens or aknowledge that you don't owe them any money.
