I took my VW to this shop for a VA safety inspection in Sept of 2022. They failed the vehicle stating it had an illegal exhaust system.
I informed the service desk that the aftermarket exhaust was installed by a licensed VA performance shop in 2016. The vehicle had passed multiple VA state inspections and emissions tests throughout the years without issue.
They did not care and insinuated that the inspections I had prior were illegal as well. I took my car to the performance shop to verify there were no problems (i.e. bad seals, gaskets, hangers). There were none. I then took my car to another shop, and it passed VA state inspection.
This is a nice, new facility but the technicians are clueless about how to do their jobs. I highly recommend you avoid this place for any car maintenance or repairs, especially if your vehicle has any aftermarket work performed.
I own 4 vehicles and I will never visit this location again.
Let me preface this by writing that I have been coming here since I moved to Ashburn. This means I have been frequenting this business for 8-9 years. Recently, I had a poor experience with them. I came here because my brakes were grinding and they needed to be replaced. I called and made an appointment for Friday at 10 am. I dropped the car off and they called me about two hours later with a laundry list of repairs. I told them that I have budgeted for brake repair and would have the rest repaired (oil leak and new tire) in another month.
I drive the car home and the next time I start it every single warning light associated with the brakes comes on. I bring the car back on Sunday and let them know that they repaired the brakes and now every light pertaining to the brakes is on in the car. I go in (it's Super Bowl Sunday) so the place is mobbed. I wait for about two hours for them to tell me my car has some computer issue that they cannot diagnose and it needs to be brought back. Then the guy I dealt with asked me if I am sure that my car didn't have the warning light previously. This is a car they inspected and they are asking me if the warning lights were on previously.
I take the car back in and this time speak with the manager who assured me that the issue I was experiencing had nothing to do with the brake repair. He said there weren't even under the hood except one of the issues the quoted for repair was under the hood so they were. My brother-in-law's best friend own a shop so I called there to ask them and they all agree the mechanic did something and was not acknowledging the error.
I won't personally be patronizing this business again. I also filed a better bureau complaint and a complaint with the Virginia Attorney's general office. I also emailed their customer service email, and both owners to no response. I also will be having my attorney file against their insurance company. My next step will be sharing this story with every local news outlet that covers this area. It's a shame with a company you know and trust does something unethical that breaks down all laws of fair customer service in the community. I refuse to let them to do this some other customer.
