Scam site and scammers on craiglist

I actually can't believe that some people fall for it... I have few vehicle listed on CL and for everyone of them I getting "very interested" who re too busy to come check the car and asking me to check my VIN on this site then they will of course reimburse me.

Here is e latest I got:

"Hi, I came across your ad on CL, I really like the bike and I’m interested in it. Can you tell me does the bike have any mechanical problems? Also, if you could send me more pictures and a history report, I would really appreciate it! Could I maybe come to see the bike in person? Are you firm on the price?

Hope to see a reply from you soon, John Matoli."

As mentioned above don't waste your time with those "buyers" or on this site.

They advertise to inquire about VIN history for free(report), when you enter your VIN, it will display your car has some problems or accident. Just like P1.

Then you will be very surprised how is it going, so, you will pay the fee to get the detailed report. Congratulation!! you have been cheated, all problems have gone.P2

This is absolutely deceptive consumption!

I was selling a car on Craigslist and I was contacted by Joyce Taylor (pretty generic name), interested in stopping by to check out the vehicle. The second email was pretty generic asking about the history and condition of the vehicle. The third email however stated that she is out of town and would be returning in a few days and then will stop by to see the car. But before that, she directed me to vincheckupapp.com to purchase a vehicle report and send it to her to review before she sees the vehicle. Now, the link that she sent was a direct link to the site.

If the link contained an affiliate ID, by which this scammer would generate a commission, I would say that this person had nothing to do with the company and is acting on their own. But since this was a direct link to the site, I would say that this person is directly getting paid by or is working for the company, and is trying to scam people into generating business for the company. Very shady. Therefore I would not trust this shady business which resorts to such illegal practices, instead of building a business the right and fair way. There are other legitimate companies out there that will provide a vehicle history report should you need one.

BAD NEWS: Initially ALL VINs (free report version) show that there is a problem. In the free version there was an "!" next to "reported incidents" and "Problems Found" for the VIN that I entered leading me to think there were issues that I needed to be aware of before going ahead with my car purcahse from Carvana.com. After purcahsing the "details" ($14.95USD for a single VIN), lo and behold, the paid "detail" report show there were No Problems Found. I suppose this company is banking on people not bothering to request a refund. Vincheckup.com's paid "detail report" was of absolutely no use to me. Carvana.com supplies a free carfax report for each vehicle they sell. This is outright Fraud!

GOOD NEWS: I immediately conacted the company via email and a few emails later was refunded $14.95.

I was looking on google to get a report on my car. the rputable sites such as Kelly Blue book vin check, Auto Check or car fax; asking for 9.95 to 24.95 for the report. I came across a website, vincheckup.com advertising free vin look up and comperhasive history. I clicked on it and entered my vin numbers. it came back with an incident report.

Site says to REGISTER FOR FREE REPORT. however, after they get your Name, Last Name, email address etc. the ask you for $14.95 to get the report. If they would say they are going to charge for the report? I would never give them my Information or register an account with this crooks. I just would pay for the report and that would be the end of it. Now i am getting email advertising from a bunch of people trying to sell car, Insurance, etc etc. my mail box is getting full everyday with junck.

Misleading sales. This is a free search site. I can't believe i fell into not reading the fine print. You will have to pay for a new full report every time you do a search and want a report. Where they get you is that you pay them $14.95.They won't give you an option to purchase a package for additional full reports at this time. When you are logged in and want to do another search they try to either sell you a package for multiple reports or you have to purchase another one for about $10 bucks each. You will do better to just use their free service as their term "unlimited vin search access for

30 days." gets you no more than someone coming to the site who has not become a registered user. Here is what they say after you put in the vin number and you want the full report.

"one full vehicle history report +

Unlimited vin search access for

30 days."

Very shady tactics. I will never use them again. Buyer beware. Stick with a reputable company like carfax.

I fell for it

I should have searched this site as I usually do before purchasing but (as with others as well I'm sure) I was in a hurry and fell for the UNLIMITED ACCESS line in the ad. Only to find out they charge $10 for each additional report. Please don't fall for it!

False Advertizing

Ad shows that for $9.95 you get one full vehicle history and "unlimited VIN search access for 30 days."

False. For 30 days you get one page that says "Success? We have records for ----" But that's it. You have to pay $9.95 again for every report.

Further, the one full vehicle history does not compare with Carfax or other services.

Don't even consider using this site.

Scam

Vin checkup gave worthless information and they refuse to refund my money with one excuse after another. The information provided would not be worth a free report. I checked CarFax and it gave great information. This company should not have any customers if they read the reviews which I wish I had checked first.

Vin check

Got lured into a purchase like the other people. Free check showed problems .

Figured I had better take a look and paid the fee. Report was clean as a whistle.

There should have been an odometer discrepancy, but nothing.

Did a Carfax and it popped right up.

Money wasted with Vincheck

Vincheckup refund

Vincheck refunded my payment quickly after a legitimate complaint. I think that’s pretty fair. Maybe they reviewed my file and saw that there was no info available on my vin. Randon

I did my own car

It shows no lien. Definitely a bank. All information is incorrect except for the car's specification. Which you have anywhere. This is a scam to get your email address and take your money. DO NOT TRUST INFORMATION FROM THIS SITE. Do not buy a car from information from this site. It is all FAKE.

Definitely crap, don't do it

It comes back with no more information than you have on your specification sheet. You pay, you lose.

Fake buyers trying to et you to spend $10 on their site

Just a bunch of fake buyers trying to get you to spend $10 or $15 on vincheckup.com when you are selling your cars on Craigslist.... Sad practice and even more sad if people fall for this...

Paid $9.95 for a Vin report check. The report stated the car had 33 miles when in reality the car had over 31,000 miles. The report stated the car was in MA when, again in reality, the car was located in MD. The information in their report was 5 years old.

When I called this to their attention they stated the Terms of The Agreement states that their reports are with the "best available information" and that there is no "warranty that the report is accurate, but only accurate to the information available." They said I agreed to that when I paid for the report and they would not refund my money.

I'm not angry about $10, I'm angry that they don't provide true up to date information; they just take your money and provide useless information, so I want people to know not to use this service...it's a total scam!

Fake "alert" to get your $

The free limited inquiry warned of flood damage. The full report, after $9.99, stated no flood alert. They hook you in with the fake news. Don't trust them.
