This happened almost a decade ago. HR messed up big time. I was a junior-level Software Developer intern thrown into a senior-level Comedy Central web dev team that barely had any time to train/guide me through their code and platform. Therefore, I did not learn a thing. I was enormously displeased and it was a complete waste of time.
Also, I applied for a spot in their Summer Associate Program that I was a great fit for. However, they inexplicably rejected my application. I'm very disappointed with this company and I'm glad I'm no longer associated with it. I did not deserve to go through this. What a disgrace.
The same scenario from all the comments. I was walking out of the Netherlander theatre after buying tickets for Motown at around 10:05 am and he began the conversation talking about how he saw Motown a few times, went on to compliment my voice and ask if i had ever considered voice acting. I actually DO want to pursue voice acting as I'm studying music/theatre/speech pathology, so i was the perfect target. he was also somewhat versed in what was current on broadway/the intustry which also sort of won me over. Long story short he got $150 out of me (ouch).
BUT
as soon as he left i started googling the name he gave me (Kenny something), didnt really find him anywhere. but then i googled the scenario "new york voice acting con artist" and a thread on reddit came up and i immediately thought "s***..." but I proceeded to call the police!!!
10-15 minutes later a few officers are sent to me by the police booth in the middle of times square and i give them the whole 9. they were all accommodating but i guess there wasn't much they could get done immediately. i left with some slip of paper that allows me to have him arrested if/when i ever see him again and i follow him long enough to get a police officer around.
there werent many testimonials on the reddit thread, just a discussion on this thread of comments but now that i've seen this (14 hours later) i think i will be making a call to the precinct to give them the link because now we can see trends!
asians, around times square most recently, early in the morning, AND THE PICTURE IN ONE OF THE PREVIOUS COMMENTS IS DEFINITELY HIM thank god.
i've been laughing at myself all day. incl at the police station.
