This is a very long review, but worth the read if you would like to know the Truth about Veteran Air, how terrible it is to deal with them and why you should Definitely go to someone else for your AC needs.
I bought a brand new unit from Veteran in late November 2015 for just under $8,000.00 and it has failed 3 times since then. I specifically chose this company since the salesman assured me that the unit was completely covered by warranty for 10 years, “NO Out-of-Pocket costs if anything goes wrong, you are 100% covered”. What I didn’t know is that the salesman was a liar and did not tell me that labor repairs are not included in the warranty or that Veteran Air is ridiculously overpriced on their repair service prices. After a year my blower motor went out and they came out and charged me $200 to tell me what was wrong and $400 to fix it 13 months after I bought it. After fighting with them over the poor quality of their unit that failed after only a year they agreed to cover the cost at no charge. The repairman came over and with a smirk was bragging about how he was going to get this job done in less than 5 minutes and was going to charge me $400 for it. Real quality employees this company has that rubs it in customers faces how much a rip-off Veteran air really is.
After 5-10 minutes handed me paperwork and said I had to pay even though it was supposedly covered and then he was gone and go figure the unit still DID NOT WORK! I called him back and he returned about 2 hours later and spent about an hour getting it right. It worked afterwards and again Veteran said there would be No charge. About a week later I noticed they charged my account the $600.00 and I had to fight with them to refund it since they told me NO Charge. Then about 6 months later they charged my account Again for the $600.00 (be aware of fraudulent charges by this company - they do it quite often.) Again I had to argue and fight with them to get my money back TWICE on a service they “Claimed” was covered.
My bank account was over-drafted and cost me fees they did not care to cover. The girl told me, “well I saw the invoice that was 6 months old and I figured I’d just charge your account” Without even contacting me to ask about the invoice or even asking her supervisor about it. Shady company for sure. On to the next issue: another year later the compressor went out, which was the whole reason I bought a new unit to begin with since the salesman said you should just buy a new unit and you won’t have any issues for 10 years. I called Veteran and they came out and told me it would be $1,200.00 to replace it, (on a 2 year old unit), This was labor only, since Carrier warrantied the compressor. That’s right - Veteran Air will charge you $1,200 for a 2 hour job! After complaining about this unit being clearly defective since it already failed 3 times in 2 years. Kevin, (the owner), told me he would contact Carrier but it would be at the very least a month if not more just to hear back from them and I would have to sit here in Florida with no AC for about a month or two.
After about a month he told me Carrier is not going to do anything for you, they are not concerned with defective units after 30 days, they care more about themselves and their vendors than customers. I asked him multiple times to send me the contact info for his rep at Carrier and he still refuses to; almost like he never contacted them and was waiting for me to get fed up and just dish out the $1,200.00 for his 2 hour swap. He did however lower the price to a hefty $920.00 claiming it was $1,300 retail. Again for his employee to come out for 2 hours and just swap out the compressor. I have no issues with that employee as he did a good job, he also informed me that all the parts are made in China and what do you expect from cheap parts or with dealing with Veteran Air; they fail all the time and the manufacturer could care less.
So I’m here wondering when it will fail again and have to spend another $1500 to fix an AC unit that has already cost me near $10,000 for a 1100q ft house. Definitely not a good company to waste your time with unless you like getting ripped off by these thieves. I would advise you hire a company that doesn’t pour all their money into advertising to convince people they are a quality AC company when in reality they are just grossly overpriced thieves selling china made products and have no interest standing behind their products. Their radio advertisements claim they offer “Service with Integrity, Respect and Honor!” - Really Kevin? Did you pull that one right out of the Army basic training handbook? Because your company has none of that. *Integrity? Not standing behind your equipment then raping people on prices to repair them. *Respect? No respect for the working class people with those outrageous prices there when several others are half the price and the OWNER of the company comes out for the repairs not some $15/hr employee. *Honor? - Well your staff lies to your customers and you fraudulently charged me twice for a service you claimed was at “No charge”. Certainly not very “Honorable”.
If you would like to know why his prices are so stupidly expensive, it’s because he pays a fortune for his radio ads. Radio ads that are designed to manipulate and convince people that he has the best AC company out there and you’re paying high costs for his mediocre service so he can blow money on expensive and deceiving radio ads oh and take long, expensive vacations. The best part is he actually told me without those radio ads he “Would have to close his doors”. What a complete crock of SH*T. Basically what he just said is that without lying and brainwashing people with ads into thinking he actually provides a great service at a hellacious price he would go out of business. Well there d****e, there are lots of companies out there that do just fine and make a great living without actually dumping a fortune into Radio or TV ads. Would you like to know why? - BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY HAVE INTEGRITY, RESPECT & HONOR!
I run my company that way and have for years, of course I don’t rape people on prices like you do so I might not have quite the $multi-million$ balance sheet you do. You want to know how I’m successful like all my other business-owner friends; without raping people on prices, Happy & Satisfied customers refer you to their friends and family and also leave good reviews. Most of your good reviews are from people who JUST bought their units - so yeah they work great - for now. Do good work and you will have plenty of customers coming back. But that isn’t something you want to do. You clearly want to rip people off, make as much money as you can regardless of who you screw over, because you can always run more ads about how great you think you are and customers will eat it up. You are a thief and I will let the world know the kind of person you are and how many other BETTER AC companies are out there who don’t lie, cheat and steal from people. Hey maybe that should be your new Slogan ~ Veteran Air: Service with Deceit, Arrogance and Disregard for our customers! That one fits a little better.
Final note: I just spoke with Kevin about this issue and informed him about how I will be leaving a review explaining the terrible experience. He actually made threats to me how he wants to meet up. How very professional of you Kevin. Great way to represent your company.
