Firstly I knew straight away by their level of English and their grammar that they were certainly not professional and highly probably scammers.
They approached me via an investment portal (angelinvestmentnetwork.co.uk) utilising the name of a Director at a highly prestigious PLC. As I said the level of English was so poor that I immediately guessed they were scammers, but decided to go along with them to see whwere it would lead. They sent me an MOU as a precursor to a final contract. On this MOU they used the address
The address corresponded to a Safety Equipment supplier in Singapore which had nothing to do with Investment. They also had the contract signed by a Nguyen Hoang who was supposedly the company's legal representative and the gave the name and address of a leading law firm in Singapore as her supposed place of work.
I contacted the law firm in Singapore and received the following email
Hi XXXX,
I refer to your enquiry via our website, as forwarded below. Please note that we do not represent and are not in dealings with "VASTFIRM" and we do not have a "Nguyen Hoang" on our staff. Thank you.
Best regards, XXXXXXXXXXX Legal Executive & Community Engagement Manager Covenant Chambers LLC 8 Eu Tong Sen Street, #12-96 Clarke Quay Central (Office 1), Singapore 059818
I didn't tell them but continued with their process and immediately recieved a very poorly written email with a US number (which I called and which rang but was not picked up) asking me to send over close to £10,000 in order to release the investment funds....
Not very clever people in my opinion but I'm sure have sammed others ...
