Back in the month of June I came across a craigslist ad for a company that claimed they could get me and $80,000 line of credit for $500. The way that it was advertised on the ad was, "for $500 we'll put you on one of our existing companies and you'll have access to our company line of credit".
It was very appealing to me because they didn't require any credit checks, since my credit was a little bit rough, it sounded like all I had to do was make the first months payment of the $500 and then a debit card would be mailed out to me that I could use. They charged a 10% back end fee as well as you were responsible for making the payments on the card.
That seemed like a pretty good deal to me. So I got in touch with the company and a girl by the name of Valerie Evans got in touch with me. She said that they could do it and that the $500 payment was payable through Google wallet. So I paid the $500 and it was supposed to be a 10 day minimum turn around time. Well, 10 days cane and no debit card. I contacted Valerie again and asked her what the holdup was. She told me that she didn't know why things are being held up but to try it again through a different lender.
This meant I had to send another $500, which I stupidly did, but she was very convincing that the process would work. After another 10 days past by, nothing ever happened. Then she claimed that they had a program that dealt with equipment leases. Basically the way the program worked, was that they would go get a line of credit from a bank and collateralize it by a piece of equipment. And then she would send the money to me from the bank. The only kicker to that, as I later found out, was that there was no equipment that was being loaned against.
They were scamming the banks. She assured me that this process would work this time but that it was another $450 to get this program off the ground. It seemed like an easy investment to try and get $85,000. And it was also supposed to be a 10 day turnaround. But again, nothing ever came from it. She had her phone turned on to auto reply and would never answer back my calls as of four weeks ago. This woman is a crook and a total scam artist. Don't be convinced by her good nature or her easiness to talk to.
I actually thought that we had a really good friendship over the phone but all she was trying to do was con more money out of me. So please stay away from her and any craigslist ads that basically offer you a line of credit of $40,000-$50,000 for a $400 deposit.
