US National Movers Reviews
They claim to give a discount to disabled people, veterans and elderly. I am a disabled veteran. I hired US National Movers in May 2018 to move me from Virginia to Florida. It was arranged that my furniture and belongings would be picked up from Public Storage, 1510 Spring Hill Road, Vienna, VA. I had an original quote for $1,364.00. They told me in order to book they would need $428 as a first deposit, then a second installment when the truck is being loaded, third and final installment once belongings arrived at my house. My price increased on moving day with no explanation by $3,000.00. I am extremely upset my original quote was 1,364.00 why am I being charged up to $3,000.00 dollars more? I had this moving date set for months and everything was agreed upon. I flew back to the area only to meet the movers in order to load the truck. The communication between them was horrendous I was told multiple times that I would receive a call as to a time frame when pickup would happen. This was not the case I called multiple times requesting call back and more info only to be lead astray. They informed me again that I would receive a call 24-48 hours from pickup date. I AGAIN never received notification. I myself had to call and inquire on what was going on. I finally received a call late Wednesday night stating they would arrive between 3-5pm and 5PM Thursday.
The communication was a nightmare. They were due at my storage unit between 3-5pm. They had not shown up by 5pm so I called them to find out their location since my storage unit closed at 9pm. I was told the previous move was running behind so it would be much later or the next morning before they would be able to pick up my furniture. I was on the phone with one mover at (919-793-3742) who said he was an hour away and a half away from me and this was off this day and he was helping his mother until the company called for him to come in and help out. However, since he was so far away, there wouldn’t be enough time to load the truck since storage closed at 9pm. We then scheduled it for the next morning early. There was miscommunication among the employees and management itself. Internal struggles, disgruntled employees. I said great, that would give us time to make sure everything was ready for pickup. I had one driver on the phone that I was speaking with saying we would re-schedule it for the next morning, then the other line rang and another driver (704-380-1301) had just pulled up to my storage. At that point we had left to go to a hotel since we were there all day getting belongings together for pickup that never happened and was preparing for early the next morning as promised.
When we arrived back at the storage unit, there were two guys there reeking of marijuana (driver fired since according to Zach), had no moving supplies on the truck, hands greasy from eating and was not equipped to handle a move of this size. When I asked them if they had boxes or any supplies to purchase from them, they suggested I purchase from Public Storage since there were no supplies on the truck. When they looked in my storage unit, he said he didn’t have enough space for my belongings because he had to go to Alexandria, VA to “pick up more money” and needed enough space on the truck for that. All the driver kept repeating was that he had to get to Alexandria to pick up “this money for this move” and had limited space. He said if we wanted him to load our stuff, we needed to give him $1,500 cash or credit card at storage space then another $1,500 once in Florida in addition to my deposit of $428. This was a totally different price than was originally quoted. I told him that I had the agreed upon $500 cash as a second installment and was willing to give an extra $500 which would have brought our total up to $1,000 plus the deposit given a few months back. The driver put his boss on speaker phone who said, either get $1,500 from them or get your a*s in the truck and leave to go to Alexandria, VA. He also told us if they left the area, they would take our deposit, which was totally different than the conversation I was having at the same time with another dispatch/supervisor who promised to work with me to get this handled.
So at the same time, there were two managers giving two conflicting answers. The guy I spoke with advised me that if we re-organized our items everything should fit and we would be fine for pickup the next morning. I agreed to be picked up the next morning. We spend the rest of that day and the next morning early (6am) cleaning and reorganizing everything from boxes to bins to be ready for our pickup. Not once did movers call and never showed up the next day. I called all day. I called US National Movers Customer Service person Jerry. He listened and then said he needed to get a supervisor on the line, which was Zach. Zach said he would work on my case asap and that he would figure out a solution for me. I sent him pics of my storage unit so he could see what we were dealing with.To date, I have been unable to get info on re-scheduling a pickup date for moving items from VA to FL or regarding my deposit. They just flat out refuse to acknowledge that they screwed up and took my deposit of $428. They do not answer the phone and will not call you back. I have called daily since 6/28/18. When you are finally able to get a live body on the phone, they all say they will call you back but never do. When I returned back to Florida from Virginia on Saturday morning, 6/30/18, I called and spoke with someone who said their system was down and that he would call me back but never did. I called again on Saturday and spoke with a lady who said she apologizes for everything that happened. She said she wasn’t aware that the move hadn’t happened and that she would have management call me back on Monday. That same day (Saturday) I received an email saying the move was successful and wanted my signature to confirm. The move wasn’t successful and someone should have followed up with me immediately after.
On 7/1, 7/2, 7/3 and 7/5, I called them and each time they said the was internet down and that someone would call me back. They always say their internet or system is down and they will call you back, which they never do and haven’t. It is now July 2018, and no one has called me, emailed me or texted me. No one will answer my calls, voicemails, reply to my texts, or respond to my emails. I have left multiple messages, emails and texts, every day. I flew to my storage there in Virginia from Florida only to handle this move. Because of this disaster, I've had to pay another month of storage ($400) a night at a hotel ($80) in addition to wasted trip and airfare ($452) in addition to the deposit I gave US National Movers on May 2, 2018 ($428). Transportation ($100 Lyft, Metro), Home Depot ($161.00) for supplies, bins. This company US National Movers failed to keep the agreed upon time and did not meet committed pickup dates for shipment. They refuse to contact me and refuses to return my deposit. They quoted a price and took money upfront. When they arrived price went up. They requested much more $$ than originally quoted. They cheated me and ripped me off by using dishonest scamming techniques. I am mortified that this company thinks it is OK to treat people this way, especially disabled, elderly and veterans. I simply don't want anyone else to have to experience what I went through during my move. I strongly feel that my genuine dissatisfaction needs to be voiced and heard. I need to voice my hurt, disappointment, discontent, frustration and anger. These people need to be held accountable for their predatory actions. I believe a class action lawsuit is appropriate.
