Was contracted to build an acrylic sun room. Owner requested multiple changes throughout that were done free of any extra charge from the original bid. Built the room but notified the owner that water was pouring out of a membrane roof on his home. Even tryied to fix his house roof free of charge while we were on site anyway. Water was coming out of the house roof 5' above the room we built and we showed owner. Sealed up the gutter and submerged the room we built to prove our roof was not leaking. Was then contacted 11 months later with a list of demands. Went to the site to address the issues with the owner and noticed he had removed the soffit around the entire home except where the sun room was because of all the water intruding into the roof of the home. I explained that i would do whatever i could to stop the leaks but the house roof had to be fixed before i could guarantee it not to leak 11 months later. The husband then came at me yelling trying to intimidate me. I told the wife that I was not going to be treated like that when I was coming over to help resove any issues with the sun room although it was obvious the entire house roof was not only leaking, but the rubber membrane they had put on the house years ago was trappping water under it and damaging the entire structure. They called the BBB and told them that I had put a lean on the home which was false. I did not even ask for any money until the room was complete and they were satisfied. 11 months later, after the house roof was failing around the entire home, they said they wanted a new room or $2500.00.
Only job in 17 years that I had any complaints. That is why I don't take any money for permitting, engineering, inspections, material or labor until we are done and the customer is satisfied. Just saw this post today for the first time and thought I would respond.
