Predatory practices by Unlimited Recovery towing, Raleigh NC
On 12/13/2021 I was doing a food delivery to a college student at 109 Park Street, in Raleigh. I parked in a small lot near 1313 Hillsborough Street and ran the food delivery in. I made sure that where I parked had NO VISIBLE "do not park" signs.
There were none that I could see. None in front of my car or to the side and there were no "resident only" signs visible. I kept my car on and flashers on just in case. I knew it would take a minute or less to drop off the food delivery.
I was in and out in about a minute and came back to my car, which had a boot on it. I was literally no longer than a minute doing the food delivery. I was able to flag down an Unlimited Recovery tow truck driver that was patrolling a nearby lot.
I told him I had run in to do a food delivery drop off to people who lived at this place, and yet I was booted for it. When he got to my car, I showed him my food deliveries inside, and yet he told me he would only release the boot if I paid $150. He said there were signs that showed permit only parking, but none of them were visible.
He had to walk across the lot and show me one sign that said permit parking, and the sign wasn't visible. I asked him if he hides his tow truck in the parking lot, just waiting for people he can tow and he turned to me and smiled... knowing not to say anything.
I am going to ask others on social media if they've had similar experiences so we can perhaps form a lawsuit against Unlimited Recovery for predatory practices. I would avoid parking anywhere near 1313 Hillsborough St or 109 Park Street, in Raleigh NC. There's a good chance that Unlimited Recovery will be hiding their trucks in the parking lot, waiting for a free minute that they can boot your car.
They park in the lots, will boot you even if your car flashers are on, and they will not give you a warning. You have no choice but to pay $150 to get the boot off. Definitely predatory practices done by Unlimited Recovery of Raleigh, NC.
If you are in need of a tow, I would absolutely look elsewhere in Raleigh, you can't trust a tow truck company that preys on people by sitting in parking lots and waiting for people to park.
This company is the biggest ban of lieing thrives I have ever seen.they are rude, sneeky and all round horrible people.anyone using this company bend over grab your ankles and get ready to get one shoved in you!! The staff is abusive and treating! BBB rates them F 19 other complaints to BBB are almost identical to this one! They said they towed from assigned parking space because double parked, impossible! My car was in spot beside of towed vechical and the other side is island with boulders and bushes! Then they said double parked also impossible , since was corner spot and car in spot beside it! So all they could come up with is tire on curb which it was because truck had been in accident day before and was only way could be placed for a tow to get out safely without further damage!! This was Sunday and they stole truck early Monday morning!! The staff is total liners and the owner never happens to be in! Even though the police was on phone with Tad 5 min.
Before we arrived to get truck.the manager was verbally abusive and came from around counter scream in and yelling at me I thought she was physically going to attack me when I stepped out of the door she locked me out!! Beware of this company and employees they are dishonest and crimeanals!!
