Universal Clean Energy Reviews

  • Jul 15, 2022

Vince, the owner of Universal Clean Energy, stopped by my house to sell me solar panels. My husband and I are in our 70s and live on a fixed income, so every penny counts. Vince informed us that the government was providing rebates to people who purchased solar panels, and that we would not have to pay anything to have them installed.

He then demonstrated how, after the rebate, we would save $20 on our energy bill. My husband and I are both in good health, and it's possible that we could be producing energy from our solar panels and not paying an electric bill. Saving money and receiving a $20,000 check seemed like a great deal, especially since we didn't have to pay anything out of pocket.

Now consider our current situation. We needed a new roof in order to get the solar panels. We're now stuck with a bill that costs us $200 more per month (we're not saving money), and we'll never see the rebate because we don't pay taxes because we have a fixed income. I contacted Vince to discuss, and he basically ignored me, telling me I should have talked to my CPA.

This nice young man was willing to explain everything just a few months ago, and now he didn't have time to explain what had changed. I may be old and nearing the end of my journey, but this young man clearly knew he was duping an elderly lady.

To make matters worse, I sent him several referrals. Everyone who will soon be in the same situation as I am. I had a feeling something wasn't right, and I should have trusted my instincts. I even had my Grandson meet with Vince to ensure that I understood everything he said. When I tried to leave a review on Google, they simply removed it. My grandson suggested that Reddit would be a good place to warn others and possibly find some assistance (any advice is welcomed).

Universal Clean Energy in Land O'Lakes, Florida, uses deceptive practices (the promise of a large government rebate check) to entice people to sign up for solar. Vince's encouragement and willingness to teach vanished the moment the solar panels were installed. I lost money, I was duped, and I hope this young man changes his ways, but until then, be cautious.
