We contracted with United Tax Shield to help us sort out various tax matters. Their representative Ken Fox assured us that he could help us. At first he was responsive and seemed to be helping us resolve our issues. As time went on, and they took more of our money, communication became less and less. When we could get him on the phone, he kept promising us that we would be pleased with results and that he always had "great news" for us. However, he has never, ever shown any shared what that "great news" is. And they have given us little tangible proof that they are doing any work on our behalf. At the end of June, he called us and said we needed to make a good faith payment to the IRS, through his company. We did. We asked for a receipt and proof that there had been work on our behalf.
Shortly after that, we urgently needed his help on another tax matter, but he did not return our calls.
We tracked down Norm Lewis, who is listed as the CPA of record for the company, but he disavowed any knowledge of the company. The company is registered with the California Secretary of State and the agent for the company is listed as Dominic Lewis, but there is no contact information for him.
This is either a scam or a really poorly run company that has no cue what it's doing.
