On 4/30/15 I submitted a 70% down payment of $7910.00 to United Racing Engines to build a custom engine for my project car. The contract was for the engine to be completed in 55 days with information such as build pictures and dyno videos to be sent within 7 days of shipment.
Nearing the contract ship date, I contacted URE looking for information on how the build was progressing. I recieved excuses on how the shop was behind schedule and the build would take a couple of weeks longer. From July 2015 through December 2015, I continued to recieve even more excuses of why the engine was not being completed and shipped.
Throughout this timeframe I had repeatedly asked for a refund or at the least to ship what components had been completed so that I could finish the build. Communication became harder and harder to establish. By December 2015 my communication with United Racing Engines had reduced to bi-weekly emails. These emails were inconsistent and lacked any concrete information that lead me to believe my engine was even being built.
On 12/8/15 I recieved the last communication from United Racing Engines stating my engine was still being built. No update on progress, no pictures, and no estimated ship date were given. I have reached out many times via phone and email to get a response over the last 4 months but no one will respond or reply at United Racing Engines.
I have found several others who have been scammed by United Racing Engines via complaint sites such as Better Business Bureau and the Arizona Attorney General. Once these complaints started to arise, it seems United Racing Engines has closed thier website and disconnected thier phone number.
United Racing Engines and thier affiliates, Rinehart Racing Engines, are completely untrustworthy and have taken a large amount of time and money from unsuspecting consumers. Do not purchase anything from any trademark surrounding these engine builders.
