United Auto Defense, LLC Reviews
So I received a card in the mail about my car warranty about to expire and I have never gotten one before so of course I was naive enough to call them for information. The man on the phone was very nice and told me I could get pretty much full coverage if I pay $205 down and $188.50 for twenty payments.
I accepted and made the first payment on the phone and two days later I was doing research and talked with my family and realized this company has a history of scams and dishonesty. I called within the FIRST 3 DAYS to cancel and their phone number was NOT AVAILABLE!!! I called three different numbers that I found associated with them and all three numbers were NOT AVAILABLE!!!
An email was sent to me from them as soon as the call ended to log into their portal and see my insured items. When I clicked on the link to the website, I had no information to log in, and had no options to register as a user. The email contained only one number, the same one that was unavailable.
I called my bank and filed a claim when my payment posted. The lady in claims tried to call the merchant number that she had on her file, and the number was still NOT AVAILABLE. So she proceeded with the claim and blocked my card from them.
This past Monday, a company I did not recognize took 188.50 from my account. I realized it was Auto Defense but this time they took money under SPARK CAPITAL. I called claims again. She called the merchant and this time was able to get through. The man that answered told us that they just worked as the financing part of United Auto Defense, and he gave me us their number to call (the SAME number that didn't work last month).
So the claims agent called, and it went through, and we went about telling JEFF that I wanted a refund and cancellation of my contract. Jeff was very rude, and told me I misdialed the number, and so did the claims agent that called last month, and put the entire blame on me.
He then went into being horribly ugly and told me my car wasn't going to last much longer, that I was going to need to pay for it breaking down all the time. He asked if I was going to make my dad pay for repairs, and I told him no, that my dad was a police officer and warned me that this company was a scam. He replied that they had a B with the BBB so "obviously my dad doesn't know what he's talking about." (I looked them up, they are under TWO LOCATIONS THAT ARE RATED DIFFERENTLY)
He tried to get the claims agent off the phone, but fortunately she refused, and said that she initiated the call and would remain on the line. He then proceeded to tell me that they didn't cancel OVER THE PHONE, and that I was to send a letter for cancellation to the MISSOURI ADDRESS, and if it's within 30 days, I would get a full refund. If it's not, I will be charged 150.
He knew that I was calling past the thirty day window, even though I was trying since the third day to cancel any and all transactions. They will try to take another 150 from me.
