Unipac Shipping Inc. Reviews

Background

Unipac Shipping is a Shipping, receiving and storage company. I had a 5 year relationship with this company in which they stored and shipped my product. The value of my inventory was nearly 1 million dollars at any given time. The first red flag was during those 5 years Unipac went through at least 5 different managers, and moved at least 5 times.

Eventually, I was concerned that complaints from my retail customers, including Amazon, that the packaging of my product was arriving in a damaged condition. I became very concerned since my life savings was tied up in this product and this business.

I decided to inspect the problem first hand. I showed up armed with my camera and entered the warehouse through the backdoor and located the area where my property was being stored.

I was shocked to see that although it states clearly on the individual cartons “Do not stack over 4 cartons,” the product was being staked 8 cartons!

The engineering specifications on stacking were clearly understood by Unipac yet to save storage space they secretly crammed my valuable product into half as much space as I had been paying fof. After being confronted with the pictures Unipac evicted us. We tried to make a claim with their insurance company Hartford we were equally shocked the only carried $500. in insurance for an individual claim (!!).

After 4 months of review by Hartford they finally informed me that the total amount of my claim was only $500., which was offset by the actual deductible of the policy. Meaning they had no insurance what-so-ever.

The day I learned this bad news, I put in a call to Steven Chiu, who happened to be cc'ed on the Hartford denial email. I spoke to a receptionist who refused to put me through.

Since I had the incriminating photographs showing clearly the negligence and subsequent damage, that they would soon be facing a lawsuit, the company panicked.

They called the Pomona Police, and filed a false police report claiming that I threatened bodily harm. Of course the case involving threats was dropped by the Pomona DA.

The parties at Unipac that lied to the police were Steven Chiu, Faeyza Ahmed, Laura Alverez and Christine Simpson. I never met and did not know any of these 4 people existed on the day this false police report was filed.

My only contact at Unipac was a person names Cherry Sun who I had several contacts via email only. Never met her personally. Obviously, the business like nature of these emails surly convinced the Pomona DA that this was nothing more than a business dispute which was I was attempting to resolve in writing in an adult manner.

Any company who would stoop to the unethical, and unlawful attempt to have a customer thrown in jail to fend off a potential lawsuit should be avoided. The 4 people listed above, who tried to pull this illegal scheme off, by breaking the law, should be avoided at all costs.
