I had a gift certificate that was given to me for ULTRA SHINE AUTO SPA CAR WASH, located at 21 S. Federal Hwy in Pompano. The gift certificate was buy 8 washes and get 2 free. I decided to use my last one today since I had time, however when I went to use it the owner at first said that my certificate was not for an SUV (even though it doesn’t state that on the certificate) I said OK how much more do I need to pay?
He then said that my certificate was expired, I very nicely said gift cards don’t expire in the State of Florida. He then stated that they do if they have an expiration date on them however if you look up the law that is not correct (I did and copied it below). He then went ballistic and started berating me and saying people like me ruin his day and that I was an ANIMAL and told the car behind me that I was an ANIMAL.
I am honestly still in complete shock at how he reacted when I never in the entire interaction with him spoke with anything but respect and calmly. I have never been treated so unprofessionally and disrespectful, and hope that nobody else has to go through what I just did. Beware of this business as they are not honorable, they do not honor their gift cards and they are disgraceful in how they treat people.
A: Generally, Florida law provides that consumer "gift cards" (i.e., instruments issued on a prepaid basis primarily for personal, family, or household purposes) are not subject to expiration dates or fees.Jan 1, 2015
