Ulrich Sales & Services Reviews

Being a care giver and widow I need my car. It was losing oil and then made horrible noises and being advised by trusted sources such as a mechanic, etc. I was told I threw a rod. I called Ulrich and asked about a motor replacement also telling him the make, model, etc. He said he would put on in with similar mileage for $1,100. I had the car towed there and after some time the car was done. When we went to pick it up I had asked for an inspection also.

A mechnic came into the office and said inspection would be another $1,100 because of some rust problems, etc. When asked what the new mileage was on this engine he said he did not know, couldn't tell but another guy rushed in and wrote a mileage figure on the report. The mechanic then laughed and told us he drove the car into the bay (so it was not a rod) and it only needed a $7.00 part after all but he was advised by co-workers to go ahead and put in another engine.

No calls to me to advise me of the situation. He seemed to think it was quite funny. I had the car towed out of there to have someone else look at it for inspection after hearing that I was ripped off on another unnecessary engine. My question now is what did they do with my engine that only needed a $7.00 part. Did they resell it or did they actually just replace the part and charge me for another engine. As it turns out the body of the car will not pass inspection without extensive expensive work because of rust problems. Now I am stuck getting another car in order to work and trying to sell my old car which has multiple new parts such as an exhaust, and a good engine, etc.

Should I be entitled to have my old engine which they replaced so I can sell it? I have since been advised by VW people that that particular engine and year ,model will never throw a rod and the owner knew that and still sold me another engine and did not advise me that it only need a minor repair. I feel like a complete victim and idiot but since I am a woman and know nothing about cars I listened to others. The owner/manager knew this and still led me to believe I needed an engine. So dishonest and disreputable. I am sick of this whole situation and at a loss since I cannot afford to get an attorney so now I am carless.
