On 25th April, When I typed in a UK government website address to renew my Driving Licence, this company must have 'popped-up' while I was keying it in. I carried on, u aware they are not an official government website and completed all my details.
I was asked for £69.99 for this 'service' and as I had not done this before, I was unaware that it is a free service in the UK. The web site is a facsimile of the DVLA web site and the service is not bona fide and is a complete rip off.
Nobody needs to pay £69.99 to have their driving licence application checked. This company prey on unsuspecting elderly people. Yes, they tell you (In tiny print) that they are not official and are optional but an older person believing they are on the official website might not be able to read the tiny and confusing terms and conditions. Also, they are the first result in google when you search for ‘over 70s driving licence renewal’ so they are deliberately targeting people who they might be able to trick into coughing up almost £70 for nothing. Shameful.
We are battling to have emails answered. Latest response - "the work has been completed" but that was nearly two weeks ago and requests for more info. remain unanswered.
We ended up with them totally by mistake - have no need of the e-book or whatever it is, just want the driving licence renewed! If the service had been good, we wouldn't feel so aggrieved about innocently (didn't realise at the time that it was not necessary) having paid nearly £70 but it would still be rather suspect. This on-line entry should have been removed.
Their website is very cunning - only displaying the message that they are not the DVLA in very small print. They charge £69.99 only to send you a form for you to forward to the DVLA. If you are over 70 you can get your licence for FREE and apply on line direct to the DVLA it comes back in a few days. My wife fell into the trap in March, has had no form since and after several attempts to contact them by email and phone has had no response other than an email blaming the DVLA due to Covid. No refund either. So steer clear of this lot! Can't understand why there are any good reviews.
Elderly Mum is computer literate but not savvy - needed to change her address for driving license - somehow got to this exploitative/unscrupulous lot when experiencing difficulty with the DVLA records, didn't know better and coughed up their extortionate fee before referring to rather more cynical family members. A nasty lesson that should not have to be learned.
This came up when I typed in to renew my driving license. I didn't realise it was not an official site and filled in all my details including credit card. Within twenty minutes, having realised they were not an official site, I emailed twice to cancel. Within twenty-four hours Monday 6th May 2020 (I filled on the form on the Saturday) they had take £69.99 on my credit card. Two days later they emailed to say that they could not refund all my money because they had sent me an 'e book' - which I did not request, have no need for and haven't downloaded, and that if I wanted a partial refund I should contact them within 48 hours. I contacted them immediately. Today, ten days later, I have emailed them again as I haven't received any refund.
This 'company' is a complete scam. It is a disgrace that trading standards even allow them to advertise, especially in such duplicitous way that people think they're on an official driving license site. I sincerely hope there is some way of shutting these people down and I personally will be pursuing them through Trading Standards and Consumers' Advice
I agree with this reviewer. This company is a scam. I also fell into the trap- thinking it is official. They took money immediately, I did not even get the E-Book they talking about. I asked for a refund- of course they would not do that. I managed to get onto my Bank to claim back the money. This is what all customers should do - contact your bank and tell them it was scam, and if you have paid with your credit/debit card- they can claim back. Do it to stop these fraudsters taking our money. For them losing money hurts...they do not care about our complaints, only care about money- so claim back all your monies and let them go bust for scheming people. Believe in karma- UK Driving Help staff will go down into negative karma for many years to come.
I wouldn’t even give them 1 star - such a con. When I realised they were not the DVLA, I cancelled within the 14 days cancellation period by email but they would not refund the £69.99 and after a number of email exchanges only offered £10!! I decided to recoup the money from my bank. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY- it’s only £14 to renew your licence through gov.uk
Left as review on trust pilot and saw this. So thought they deserved to have a point here too! These guys helped em sort my licence in prep for the DVLA - I couldn't get through to them at all!! It was at acost but it was worth it as not only did they help me secure my license, i got a book about driving in the uk. read thing I didn't know before. Nice little service. don't give them such bad press! they are what they are! !!
Used Uk driving help to make the application process easier and they were exactly that. Easy to fill form. Pack put together for me and a great Uk driving guide ebook - which is part of what you pay fir. Thanks, have recommended!
Found UK Driving Help while searching on Google as I needed help renewing my driving licence. The application was easy to fill in, the ebook came with my order confirmation and I received my application pack within a few days. I would use their service again
