Buyers Beware of Twin Pine Farm & Exotics, owner Sheri Sublett Deflorio. I purchased an Asian Leopard Cat that was sent to me with very unhealthy..
My poor Zuma was sent to me with a relative of Sheri's husband in a truck for 11 1/2 hours without any food or water and Sheri knew I had another 4 hours once I got the kitten to get her home. Zuma was 6 weeks old and only weighed 12 ounces. Zuma came to me across many state lines without a health certificate and no USDA paperwork.
On the 4th day of having Zuma she was found paralyed on the floor. I rushed her to my vet and X-rays were taken and no injuries were found. So they sent me to Ohio State Veterinary Hospital. They couldn't find anything wrong and no testing could be done since she was so very small. After bing there for hours the vet finally brought Zuma to me and she was up and moving again. They sent her home and told me to keep an eye on her.
I informed Sheri of Zuma's condition that there was something wrong with her but the vets didn't know what was wrong.
Less than a month later, Zuma was still having issues, head tremors, problems walking and not gaining weight. I took Zuma back to my vet and they suggested she see a neurologist at OSU Veterinary Hospital. Sw we saw Dr. McBride and Zuma was not one day from being 10 weeks old and only weighted 1 pound 3 ounces. Again no testing cold be done since Zuma was so very small. They couldn't take blood because the amount needed for testing would have killed her. Dr. McBride looked at the first X-rays taken of Zuma when I only had her for less than 4 days. Dr McBride saw that Zuma's bones showed she had a calcium deficiency, which proves that Zuma came to me with this problem. Dr. McBride suggested that Zuma's diet be changed from the raw chicken and vitamins that Sheri had her on and told me to continue, to a commercial diet. Plus she must be kept in a kennel since she was in such a fragile state and a recheck of Zuma in a month was scheduled in hopes she would be big enough for testing.
I informed Sheri of Zuma's condition and sent her the report and demanded that she take Zuma back and refund my money as per the signed contract since Zuma had been sent to me with pre-existing conditions. Sheri refused to take her back and told me to wait another month for the next neurologist recheck. I said, "NO you caused these problems with Zuma not me and Im demanding that you take responsibility for her". Well Sheri sent me a "Cease & Desist letter" claiming I was harassing, threatening and slandering her simply because I was demanding she stick to her contract and take Zuma back. I NEVER harassed, threated or slandered her. Sheri refused to take any responsibiltiy for Zuma.
At Zuma's next visit to OSU vet clinic with Dr. McBride, Zuma was now big enough for testing but still way under size and weight (2 pounds 5 ounces) for a 4 month old kitten. Zuma was found to have congenital or inherited cataracts, congenital or inherited retinal dysplasia and shortened vertebrae that could be congenital also.
So I filed a law suit against Twin Pine Farm & Exotics and WON in court against Sheri. She lied on the stand many times and even about her own contract stating she doesn't offer any refunds of any kind. So I got the pleasure of making her read her own contract out loud in court proving she is a liar.
Sheir has refused to stand behind her own signed contract and Sheri refuses to pay the court ordered judgement. Sheir's attorney asked the judge for Zuma to be returned to Sheir and the judge said, "NO".
