They charged me $661 to fix a water pump and a few other things when the real issue was a bad head gasket(s). Car was in the same condition when I picked it up, after burning $661 on incorrect repairs.
Don’t mind that the car had other issues - I knew that. I do mind that they misdiagnosed it, charged me nearly $700 for it, then said “whoops, sorry about that.”

The worse experience, i went for a supposedly free break inspection due to a break noise, they looked at it clean it a little bit charged me 75 dollars for the fixing the supposedly did, they cut the disk which were completely new and unnecessary to be cut and after driving less than ten minutes the noise got worse, i took it back to them, they did the same inspection and wanted to charge 166 more to see if the noise was due to the brake shoes, i said no took it to another shop where they did fixed it and had to replace the disk again because tuffy adjust it too tight which caused damaged to the disk, i asked for a refund and all i got was the run aroundover the phone, the manager todd wanted the other shop job details when that hasnothing to do with them at tuffy charging for a fixing they never did instead a damage and loss of my money, a total ripp off, in the past the previous staff changed the pads and it was ok, another time they broke the oil pan cover, still i gave them another chance and now this, tuffy for me is no longer trustworthy, i just wanted tohelp other people not to be ripped off like i was, how disappointed i feel with such a horrible sevice, i will never go back again. People be aware!
I thought the days of taking advantage of women at a mechanic were long past. Tuffy in PortageMI proved that not to be the case. When returning from a fun family function our van broke a serpentine belt on Friday evening outside of Portage on the way back to our home in Traverse City. The van was towed to Tuffy where I was assured that it would be looked at first thing in the morning. We went to a hotel and made the best of it. After waiting until late into the afternoon on Friday Tuffy called to inform me that the cost to repair the van would be $1800.00. This seemed very high and I asked what the bare minimum to get back on the road would be. Emily the lady at the desk at Tuffy stated it could go down to $1300.00 telling me that they could skip replacing the radiator. I called the male half and informed him of the cost and he told me to not let them touch anything further. He then called them and told them to hold off on fixing anything until they heard from him. After consulting with our trusted mechanic (who knows the van very well) we found out that Jake’s suspicions were valid and Tuffy was trying to take advantage of a women and replace and repair things that had nothing to do with getting the van road worthy. Jake called and spoke with Emily and was able to get the quote down to $699.00. They were trying to replace many items (radiator, hoses etc) that had less than 79,000 miles on them. We are blessed in that we can afford to repair anything that goes wrong with any of our vehicles. If this would have happened to a person that did not have the availability of information, and money, they would have paid for this totally unnecessary and flagrant rip off bill. This whole organization should be ashamed of them selves! Beware of this place!
My car broke down so I was told by them that the towing was $65.00. When AAA went to give them the bill they got mad at him for telling me what the price was. He pulled me aside and told me they were going to charge me more. Then I was told I needed a new radiator so I told them to order it. After sitting there for 3 hours I paid $546.00 and left only for my car to overheat and break down again. I had to sit at a gas station in Venice Florida for 2 hours to let my car cool down fill it with water and try to make the 58 minute drive home. I had to stop 3 times to put water in it. I didn't get home till 11 p.m. and when I shut the car off all the water came pouring out of the car. Thats when I noticed it was a used radiator. The grill was bent in several places and it had corrosion on it. That's when I called my bank and stopped the transaction from going through.

Unwilling to work with me on the issue.
