I am so mad I could bite nails. I work hard for my money !!!!!! I had only read this review for truthfinders. I was not worried about billing me after I canceled. I was worried about the informaition it reported. So I went and spent my hard earned 16.71 like a dumb fool. First of all the information they give you most of it is out dated. I know for a fact 4 of the people I looked up had facebook but what did truthfinders say noooooo they had no record. I can see if they missed one but all four people. I looked up a couple of more I knew had criminal records again nooooooo records.

And it will tell you the records are coming soon but from what I hear they have been coming soon since they started this rip off game they are playing. I bet they get a laugh out of dumb people like myself. Laughing and talking to each other oooops we go another dumb one on the hook. The information that you get you could get on google. I also wrote a review in there review section. I did not see all the bad reports they had in their own web site. I made a review and they did not print it yet. Maybe they are waiting for approval I was pretty harsh. Well I have a right to be. They should be a shame of their selves advertising false information. Okay that is all the ragging I am gonna do. Please Please don't be a fool like me. if I can save one person their money it was all worth this. Thanks

My truthfinder review

I didn't find truthfinder to be accurate with all of their results, this came to me a surprise because i didn't get any service I paid for, i wasn't able to complete what i needed truthfinder for. Customer support was slow and that even frustrated me more. However, on the other hand i was able to get help elsewhere, they provide precise monitoring, surveillance, real deep web search and forensics service. You can check them out by mailing rootgatehacks^tutanota^com, they have good software and tools to complete your task

Serves you right

It serves you right for spying on your fellow man. It is because of people like you that the dignity of the people is being stripped away while the system rakes in the dough. Shame on you sheeple, don't support these peeping tom sites, you reap what you sow.

Do not Waste your Time with Truth Finders. SCAM

Fully agree with the above comment. Information on the site is not accurate. This is unethical behavior when commenting false information on people. I VOTE strongly to remove this company from the internet to be spreading lies about people. This company needs to close down, or someone needs to sue their pants of for FALSE information about people. We all have a RIGHT to some privacy. Do not believe what this site tells you at all, and for sure DO NOT WASTE your money, or time with Truth Finder's. The name should be SCUM BUMS.

I haven't been able to cancel despite a call to Peter at their 800 number a month ago

I used the service once and thought I had only signed up for one time. A month later when I got the bill on my credit card I called the 800 number and got Peter who supposed cancelled my subscription. Now it is a month later and my current credit card bill still has a billing for $27.78. I tried the 800 number again twice but the message said volume was high and to use the internet. So I tried that--what frustration--no luck to find cancelling info. when I accessed my account--they just wanted me to search someone else. So I googled "How do I cancel my Truthfinder subscription"--they write that your cancellation request will be processed immediately. I was able to send an e-mail to them but so far no response. In fact I got so aggravated with their websites that I sent 3 e-mails and then proceeded to write a letter. I have not used the site for searching except for the initial time. They make it very difficult to close the account. I found one person who complained about their websites as well by searching under scams--His comment reflects mine. Read it on Outscam.com. If I don't receive a cancellation notice by tomorrow I'm contacting the San Diego Better Business Bureau and also contacting the California attorney general or their consumer issues department. I've wasted a lot of time trying to cancel my account.

..... and every lie they tell ya' is absolutely true

Fortunately I gave them not a cent. Of course they gave nothing either except their promises supported by their accolades of themselves. What's that old saying about a self-made man who worships his creator? That all warned me and when they wanted MY info. Woah! So they can sell ME on the other end? when they sell the "Wanna see who's been checking up on you?" plan. Must be lawyers. And someone had to graduate at the bottom of their class. If only they left room for negative stars.

This site is plain wrong started by people in the wrong

This site is being used to harrass people. What I'd like to know is what they do with the complaint part of the information they let anyone fill out against you. So it means if a neighbor is just plain mean and wants to make trouble for you all they have to do is go to this site and post what they want whether it is true or false or whether they are in the wrong or not resulting in job loss, unfair treatment from the judicial system, and any other bad thing that might happen to someone as a result of talking about them. Ok somehow this don't sound legal. I happen to know some people are using this sight to get away with harassing others just to rule the roost. If anyone wanted them to be boss they would have the job that gives the orders and not have to hide behind this site. For everyone's information you can go to the web site for the state of Maryland Judiciary records and get this information for free. Then for a background check instead of paying these people monthly just go through the State Police for a background check. Sure it costs but it won't be a monthly fee and you know it's accurate.

NOT WORTH THE PRICE...

Truth Finder is so full of nothing! I looked up several people and the information provided was not worth the price I paid. It showed no arrests for known sex offenders. It showed a LOT OF BOGUS INFORMATION. Most of the time, you couldn't even find he person until you went through relative after relative. Didn't show my own children as bing a relative of mine. In fact it showed my husband's ex wife as a relative to ME. GIVE ME A BREAK. What a waste of money!!!

not what you pay for, no info I didn"t already know, and half the people search the site kept saying "this rarely happens but we couldn't find this person" come on--I knew this person he lived next to me, I know the last state he was in and I know he worked in that state how can you not find someone born and last known to live in a certain state? work records, utility bills, driving records,(maybe this is the PREMIUM REPORT) NO ONE just disappears !!!! Oh the best part is if you want more info you have to pay 19.99 more for premium service this price is for ONE REPORT !! Hardly any info was up to date, old addresses, old phone numbers this site is not TRUTHfinders!!!!

  • Nov 3, 2016

Oh cool, my report is ready... oh wait.

They make you wait 15 minutes and lure you in with "Graphic Content, may contain things you don't want to know" So, after you wait 15 minutes while its generating your report. It immediately takes you to a payment page that makes you fill out your credit card info and all that. NOWHERE DOES IT TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY! What a waste of fucking time.

Ridiculous!!!

Being the cynic I am, when I got to the page where it asks for your email address, I immediately googled "truthfinder reviews", which led me to this page. According to truthfinder.com, I have 1 criminal record. Now unless someone is impersonating me, my "criminal record" consists of a recent minor traffic conviction which carries no points on my driving record. Stay away from me, folks. I'm a bad man! LOL!!!

SCAM

The report lists places I have never lived, people I do not know as relatives, people I don't know as "associates".

I have an arrest record because my foot slipped off the brake at a red light, I tapped the car in front of me. No damage. No injuries. A ticket and driving school to avoid the points on my insurance. That got list under the "arrest column ".

Save your money because you can't change anything that is on there. It can't be changed because the info comes from public records. I don't know whose public records they checked.

TruthFinder Results Had Stated I Had 1 Criminal Record!

I did a TruthFinder search on myself using my name & city/state. The results that came-in had stated they'd found 1 criminal record regarding me in FL! I couldn't believe it! So I purchased the report wanting to know what they had found! As far as I knew I didn't have any criminal record anywhere! After making the purchase I finally got to see my report which stated they couldn't find any arrests nor criminal record. I immediately called TruthFinder demanding my money back. I explained what had happened stating their website had lured-me in to purchase the report by using false advertising! After being put on hold twice the rep finally came back and told me they granted me a one-time courtesy refund and that my account was now closed. I'll update this review if possible if any trouble arises regarding my refund!

Truth finder Not!

I didn't sign up with truth finder. I found all the flashing of pictures and the progress bars filling up from left to right to be an indicator. If they were a good service, they would not have needed all they flash. So when it came to give them my email address, I bailed out. Didn't even get to giving them any money. I came here just out of curiosity, to verify my suspicions. And you all did verify them. Thank you.

They also disseminate your contact information to SPAMERS

I tried this service (free). I used my actual email address, however I used a false name. I did not sign up with the service. Within 1 week I was receiving over 400% the usual amount of SPAM. Some of it was even addressed to the fictitious name! Gotcha! I had never before associated my fictitious name with that email address. Beyond a doubt they are sharing and or selling your information to SPAMERS. Stay away from truthfinders.com!!!!!!!!!

Truthfinder.com gave out my email address to spammers!

By Hillary, Berkeley, CA, Sep 3, 2016

Do not give this site your email address!

I was going to sign-up and pay for search with my credit card, but decided not to at the last minute. Thank God I did not (especially after reading all the bad reviews)! However, I did give them my email address on their website and I used a fake name. Well, the very next day, I was bombarded with spam emails over the next week.

The way I know Truthfinder.com gave out my email address to numerous companies (without my consent), is because those companies sent emails to my email address with that same fake name I gave to Truthfinder.com! Do NOT input ANY personal info about yourself at this website, whether you end up giving them your credit card info or not.

Truthfinder is a scam. They suggest free and 30 minutes in want to charge you.

I knew after 3 minutes that this was a scam. Upfront they make you believe the info is free, and then want to charge 20 or 30 bucks after you have wasted 20 minutes answering repetitive questions and affirming that you will not commit a crime as a result of the info revealed. If I had more time, I would sue these bastards. I have no idea as to whether they provide useful information, but I do know they are totally deceptive and could provide the searches in a few minutes if they wanted to instead of locking you into 20 minutes of totally wasted time. 0 STARS is what they should get.

You're not alone!

I have also been taken by these Bozos. Yep, watch 'em - they do take more money after you cancel. BUT - Call them and demand your money! When they start saying you didn't cancel, give them the date (you don't have to have it exactly-they'll say you never called anyway), tell them they have 24 hours to get the refund back into your bank account or you will go to your bank and report the money they stole as fraud. This will get their attention!

These reports go to the State Attorney Generals' office (if there are more than a few reports - and they have taken more than a few of us "fools"). If enough of us report this and the State Attorney General gets a file with numerous complaints, they will report it to the Federal Postal Inspectors. when THEY get a good file going these jerks who are laughing will have a really good time! Postal Inspectors go in like the FBI, halt all work, make all employees stand back from their desks...and wait. Then the interviewing of each employee starts (so they can decide if they want to charge the individual) and this takes hours. But while the employees are at attention, Inspectors start removing file cabinets, computers, and all the paperwork from desks and loading it all into trucks they brought. Some folks will go to jail, most will just soil themselves while they wait. It's very entertaining! And all this happiness is theirs while we, who have only gone to the bank and filled out a few papers, get to laugh at those dumb people who thought we were the fools!!!! The business will be shut down, Owners and Upper Management will definitely do time! Join me in spreading some happiness!!

Truthfinder offers to help consumers perform background checks. I was attempting to find information on behalf of an adopted individual and i got suckered in to what ended up being a useless, offensive and disgusting report.

Truthfinder says you can have access to unlimited reports for a monthly fee. That monthly fee is $16 but they bill it twice so it's actuallly about $30. Months can go by before you can get these charges stopped!

When you register with truthfinder and register your payment information you are told that you can cancel at any time. But that's not really the case because there are website errors that will occur upon subsequent visits and on other occassions the website will claim that your username or password is wrong. The site basically jacks you around so you can't make proper use of it. That's a problem because truthfinder makes you "agree" to use their website to cancel your account. There is a customer service line but oftentimes it rings off the hook. You can't count on getting through.

So you might think, "no problem, i'll just call my credit card company". Well, unless your credit card company is onto truthfinder complaints they will want to research the dispute and that will entail contacting the company. Fair enough. Except your credit card company may have a hard time reaching truthfinder too. And that means you will end up with long delays before you get your money back. In my case, we're talking months of charges and multiple calls to the credit card company with no solution yet!

Billing — trying to unsubscribe from monthly fees — is a big problem. But an equally significant problem concerns the quality of the reports. The "specific information" i received was either already out there on google and/or outdated. They claim to pull court judgments, marriage, divorce and many other records. But none of that came up on the person i was researching and we're talking a 90-something-year-old woman! now you tell me if there are few records to be found on someone that age?

I appreciate that a lot of these people finder services are just collecting information from public databases. But when they can't even grab what's out there any better than i can, it's a complete waste of time and money. I wanted a one-and-done experience and instead i feel like i got "had".

So now for the third problem: truthfinder warns you that you are going to see disturbing and graphic content that may presumably appear in connection with criminal and court records associated with the individual you are researching. If you think the individual you are looking for is "safe" think again. That's because truthfinder isn't going to give you a report that is specific to the person you are searching for. Most of the report i received was a rehash of a public sex offender database. My report was super long because apparently the person i was looking for lives next to a lot of sex offenders Which probably has to do with the fact that it is an urban area so be forewarned if you use this service to research anyone who lives in a big city!).

The person i was searching for did not have any court records or criminal history of her own — or at least nothing that truthfinder was able to find — but that didn't stop my report from being very graphic. The report i paid to generate simply used one of her old street addresses to pull information about sex offenders who live Or lived) nearby. As a result, i was subjected to all this disgusting information not because the person i wanted to learn about is a criminal but because she simply lived next to criminals. For one, the sex offender registries are already public. For another, i don't need or want to pay for access to irrelevant content! this extraneous, offensive information did not tell me anything "specific" about the person i was looking for!

If truthfinder can't pull more than two outdated addresses for a 90-something-year-old woman, can't identify where she was born and is unable to indicate if she is living or dead, that's a real problem. But when i pay to receive a report that ends up focusing almost exclusively on perverts who just so happen to live nearby.

Reoccuring charges

I had a company do multiple charges, the best advise was from a bank manager...... If you have your credit card number changed they can no longer charge you. It may be a hassle, but you have no more charges and CC companies are fine with doing this and the company charging you can no longer do so.

Try this!!

If you have given your card n4. & your credit card co or debit card bank is still allowing these charges.Tell them you lost your card & they will issue you a new one that has different numbers..The vendor will be shut out because of this..Lastly in the future always go buy a prepaid card for all on line purchase's that way they can only take what's on the card..keep the card balances small. If you ever have theses kinds of problems again, just destroy that card & go get another.$3.00 hope this helps..

This company is a complete ripoff. $18 to find super basic information you could easily find on your own. If you want anything worthwhile it all costs more money after the fact. However, the first sentence I read on their website is that they don't believe in hidden fees.. That's a load of crap. Cancelled my account later that day following Truthfinder's exact instructions. Account was successfully closed, and I cannot log on anymore. However, a month later, I was still charged $18 for my service to be renewed. I try loggin on to my account, but cannot because it's been closed. Proceeded to then call Truthfinder, and was connected to an unbelievably rude operator. She insisted my account was never cancelled, and there was nothing she could do. After 15 minutes of explaining my case again and again, I finally got my $18 refunded and my account cancelled (I hope). Stay away.

What A Joke

I found a charge (never used the service) on my card. Contacted my bank, now disputing the charge. Contacted FUFinder, also known as "truthfinder". They said that they had no record of me using the service. I asked them to return my money, they said that they can't because the bank is complaining, and I's have to wait. I pointed out that these miserable SOB's forced a change in my card, and all the notifications that go with that... their answer? Sir I'm not authorized to comment any further, take it up with your bank. A-holes

I am a web developer

This site is nothing but a waste of time. It asks and collects information that is stored in browser memory (JS), then populates progress bars that make you sit there and wait as it "looks for information" and "verifies and secures reports", all while making absolutely 0 ajax requests (asynchronous requests to another URL). A lot of the stuff they initially show you is public record. You can google someone's name and get better results than using this stupid site.

I really can't stand scammy sites like this. Sorry if you wasted your money. These businesses should be illegal.

If you're curious to replicate this yourself:

Go to truthfinder.com,

Open up your browser's developer tools (f12, cmd+option+i),

Go to the network tab (enable and refresh if not enabled),

And go through the process of "looking" for someone.

This network tab will show you everything that's being loaded from a URL that is not the one you're currently on. Images, fonts, javascripts, css, and anything the browser needs to pull from other URLs show up here as it happens. If this thing was real, you would see GET requests and POST requests coming from JS files happening on the fly, as you submit information. Just do the same thing on facebook.com and you'll see what I mean.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Truthfinder is deceptive bait and switch

Truthfinder says they're free to run a report. True, but if you want to actually see it you have to pay money. So, you pay money for this service and you think you'll get something, right? Wrong. You get a report with basic background info and a "premium" button by the sections of stuff you really want to know. So, each section of the report costs more to reveal that info. I have no idea how much a full report would cost, but I estimate $100. Total BS.

Crock of shit!!!!!

This is such a scam. The web app is designed to look like its churning away and collecting lots of valuable information. They're following a "car salesman" technique where they waste your valuable time, such that you don't want to leave without getting something for it. If it was truly legit, they would allow you 1 free report (no credit card required) to determine the quality of the information.

One evening last fall, I saw an ad that indicated an advanced search of personal information to the effect of "you'll never believe what is in your public records". I followed the teaser links that indicated "searching / processing / compiling" of my report until it indicated that I would have to pay $16.71 for "one month of unlimited searches". The report was crap & not near as exhaustive or complete as I was led to believe it would be. Being as I had already paid, I ran a couple of other names of past friends to test it... yeah, they were equally crappy & incomplete, too. Today I noticed a $16.71 charge for "truth finders" on my card and traced it back to 7 months before & found their phone number on one of my statements. When I called & complained, I was guided on the computer to their sign-in / registration page which indicated a "monthly subscription" that I would have to call to cancel. I don't recall seeing such a thing before & I would not have allowed such a charge... I turn away & refuse such services for what they are - total rip-offs. The phone representative said she would immediately cancel my "subscription"... when I asked about the rest of my payments, stating that I considered the whole service a rip-off & a product of deceptive advertising, she "apologized" and said that she would refund my most recent payment. When I asked about the rest of the payments beyond my first one she said that she would speak to the manager. She came back to say that she could only refund payments back to Mar 2016 (3 payments). I persisted saying that there was a total of $100 at stake & asked to speak to the manager, myself. Again I was put on hold, then told that the manager "was unavailable" - but she promised me that he would return my call & asked for my home phone number. So two (2) promises were made: 1) a refund of 3 months of payments equaling $50.13; and 2) a personal phone call from the manager to discuss my grievances & demand for a complete refund (beyond the initial payment of $16.71, which I considered my own mistake). I don't expect any of it to materialize except for the cancellation of the "subscription" & discontinued billing of my credit card. Still, learn from my mistake and don't waste your time & money on this fraudulently deceptive & poor excuse for "service".

SCAM I AGREE

I looked this up after I clicked on the link because it said FREE and then waited for five minutes of all the hype of it loading everything up for the report answering questions along the way, gave them my name and email etc etc only to be directed to a page that asked for $27.68 for a month of reports!! IT IS NOT FREE! And apparently the price has been raised considerably. The customer service person admitted to me that most people will pay when prompted and so their deception works. VERY unhappy with the lack of integrity for a site called Truthfinder. If it had zero stars I would have selected that. Thank you everyone for saving MY money!!

Rip off

I was so close to putting in my credit card information as well as paying 16 plus additional dollars for access to this website and the personal records. After doing a little research finding out this is a scammer website I clicked the X button and an ad popped up that said "congratulations you can access all records for just 1 dollar" but I knew even if I was dumb enough to fall for that lie they'd still try to cheat me into taking all of the money I have. I hope no one will fall for this again, it's a shame they're allowed to do this to innocent people and steal their hard earned money. I hope they go to hell!

Truthfinder is a scam

I am a writer working on a book. My client is assisting me with the project. She saw an ad for truthfinder.com on classmates.com and decided to try it as a source. She sent me her log on information. When I tried a search, it failed miserably. Several more searches yielded no results. I searched for people I know exist - including myself and my client. Nothing. As I explored the site numerous alarms went off. My experience with scams often involves three common threads: 1. they want a lot of money up front, 2. after some sort of teaser, they immediately try to up sell to get what should be available right off the bat, and, 3. in the age of the internet cons, they are determined to convince users they are safe and legitimate by by cleverly including testimonials denying they are a scam. Anyone who starts off saying,"I am not a crook," has surely been accused of being just that. My client is trying to get a refund that will most likely never come. The maxim, "buyer beware" has never been more valid than in the age of the internet. Please don't waste your money on something you can find for free.

And apparantly if i did find myself on top of the $16 i already paid i would have to pay more to get it in pdf and even more to get the record it claimed to find. I called same day for a refund and man says we do have a disclaimer that all information may not be up to date. I'm 54 years old by 54 years there should be something up to date. Would not refund my money. Total scam do not waste your money.

Unlimited access...?

I signed on for a one month trial and took full advantage when I had the time to do so. I was searching for old friends that I had lost touch with being that I had moved away from the old neighborhood. A couple of days had passed before I had more time to view more reports. I couldn't log on. I even tried to reset my password & was told I had received an email from them with a new password. No email ever arrived. I finally called the phone number and (surprisingly) got someone almost right away. The young man put me on hold to see what was going on. When he came back, he said that my account had been cancelled because it was "suspect". I asked him what he meant & he said it was because I had done too many searches! Why say "unlimited" if that's not the case? So, he said my card had been credited the initial amount charged (we'll see), but I feel like a moron now. It was actually kind of insulting and accusatory, which I don't appreciate. Maybe if the reports weren't so conflicting I wouldn't have had to search multiple times...gee, ya think?! I certainly won't recommend this company. Not only because of the insult, but the information they provide is vague at best.

Outdated Rubbish

I totally agree. Truthfinder doesn't pick up their phone and it's difficult to log back in after they have your payment info on file. Then they bill you every month and you can't get back onto your account to stop the charges. Their reports don't have much of anything that is current but they tell you they can pull all sorts of records. Well, marriage, divorce, death — they're all public records and in the report I received it didn't pull any of that (and no social networking history or email, either). Even worse the reports are almost entirely made up about convicted sex criminals who live in the surrounding area and NOT on the person you actually paid to learn about. If it's not a scam, it's pretty close.

worth it

After reading all these negative comments, I still went ahead, spent one dollar through paypal, knowing with paypal I can cancel a subscription instantly without the issues people have with credit card subscription. I did not accept their high prices, and got the trial offer of $1 for 5 days. For 5 days, I can look people up. As people have mentioned, this only gives you access to their "basic" information, despite the trial saying it gives full acces before the payment. In my case, I was not interested in the items listed in their premium anyway (which costs $17):

Bankruptcy Filings

Properties Owned

Civil Judgments

Tax Liens

Foreclosures

Corporate Affiliations

Mortgages

Voter Registration

Education Information

Professional Licenses

Hunting/Fishing Permits

Weapons Permits

Education Information

Auto Accident Information

Information on Neighbors

Business Associates

Additional Phone Numbers

And More!!

Also, they have another extra which is e-mail details. costs $5. Not sure what info that gives. Possibly where from they found the e-mail. They also have a $2 pdf addon in case you'd like to download pdfs. But with a free pdf printer, there is no need of buying that.

OK, so what is the actual experience. Well, in no way does it give you a complete picture. BUT it DOES do a good job finding name aliases, facebook and linkedin accounts, related people and e-mail accounts. It finds relatives in case they have shared address with you sometime in the past. And the update is recent, within a month recent.

When I looked up myself though, it failed to find my phone number, and the address was completely wrong. Now it had matched me with my brother through my address, so how it gave a completely different address is strange. I was baffled it had found so many e-mail addresses of me. I never give those out in the open. I suspect the e-mails are either bought from Microsoft, Linked in, and Monster or found in resumes (you have to be listed as an employer to see that in monster and linkedin). I have searched a lot of people and it always lists a handfull addresses for each person. In my case they were accurate. For others, I have seen it might include other family members.

The criminal record, It lists an entry, tells you the category, and that's it. So incomplete info, and suspect also, incomplete detection.

Does it give you more info than you can find online for free? yes, it does. Relatives are not easy to figure out online. Address history either. Criminal arrests as well. Name aliases is nice too. I am happy with my purchase. Totally worth that one dollar.

UPDATE: oh one thing I forgot.. people say some info is old. YES.. like the linked in info is 4 years old. really. It takes all that time to generate the report, and then it does nothing really. all those indicators saying they are gathering info is just for the looks, they do no such thing...

Do NOT give them your email address or u will get spammed to death!!!!!

They hook you into "providing" personal information on individuals that you search for - address, arrest records, phone number, registered sex offenders etc. They spend 5 minutes trying to convince you with "progress screens" that they are checking all sorts of databases. Along the way they ask for your eMail in order to send you a "report". In the end: you gave up 10 minutes of your time, gave up your eMail address for sale to others, and you land on a screen to pay $27.00 for the report... which of couse they make it look like it will be free, when you started. In any case, from researching many a similar sites related to dating, doing family history search, or just Googling an address or phone number.... they are all selling the same information, which you can search/Google on your own. So BUYER BEWARE - Just another scam to get your money.

They edit out the serious crimes

Be careful. If you want to know the real criminal histories of a particular person use a different company. I know for a fact that truthfinder either does not have, by any stretch of the imagination, the full criminal history on people, or they edit out the serious crimes for one reason or another. And, due to this I wrote and asked for a refund but haven't heard a word and that was days ago. Look for a more reputable company. I wish I had.

Save your money and cancel your card

I realized after the transaction and I had gotten the report, that I had gotten ripped off. In order to receive the entire report you have to pay more money. This is after the initial transaction, and to have a report in PDF format you have to pay. Though I chose a single report in the email they sent it referenced that I would be billed monthly. I called to cancel immediately by phone, as per the email instructions to cancel, and was told that it was canceled and that I would receive a cancelation email. I have not received it yet and don't expect to. So I will cancel my card. This companies name should be RipOff, Inc.

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM AND A FAKE BUSINESS! I also believe this is a front to scam people out of their credit card information, And after I read the Better Business Bureau complaints, I am sure it is. We had never heard of or contacted this company ever. We just found fraudgulent charges on our company credit card. They started with $2.00 abd $7.00 for 3 days in a row in May... Then they started chargeing it $29.89 twice in may and then 5 times on June 5, 2018. I guess they found they were getting away with it. They managed to fraudgulently collect $175.00 + from the bank. We reported them and closed all cards and accounts!! Everything you look up online about TruthFinder is that they are a scam and a rip off!

After looking into my own data on this site, I have discovered a lot of false and unverified information reported under my name. Some of it was correct, but a lot of false information was added to it LOL. I am tempted to try to claim ownership of the properties I have never lived in located in the states I have never resided in, let alone ever visited.

I also find it funny that any credible public records search will likely show my last traffic ticket received about ten years ago, but truthfinder is reporting me as having a criminal record. Anyway, be aware that information you see on truthfinder reports is not verified or in any way vetted and is likely inaccurate. Apparently, they entice users by promising dramatic and juicy findings and embellishing the reports on people.

My next test on the site involved looking up a phone number of which I already know the details of, it is not free to do so, although the site claimed it was. I immediately notice the silly progress windows informing me that I will see evidence that HE IS CHEATING ON ME. LOL, yeah, not concerned about my dentist's office cheating on me in the least bit. After several more progress screens containing completely irrelevant sensational claims about my dental office's criminal record and incriminating photos, it becomes evident that truthfinder does not even know that this is a business phone number and likely would not know the truth about any basic proven fact, if it bit them in the arse.

Based on all the all the bait and switch complaints, I skipped entering my credit card details to pay the 1.99 for my free phone number look up. From what information it has showed me or is not blurred out, it appears my dentist's office is a no good, lying, cheating, criminal. I have a hunch they would say the same thing about the vetrinarian I take my pets to.

My point is, this is not a credible background check or information service. It is a very greedy little business collecting your data when you use their site, irresponsible, inaccuate and sloppy in their data mining and data presentation. All of the information that they provide is available for free if you are willing to do the searching yourself.

My concern is that so much incorrect information is presented and the potential for this to cause damange to someone unaware that incorrect information is being reported about them. Companies like this should be regulated and required to verify data reported on a person. It should also be prevented from false advertising, playing on a person's fears or emotions (presuming I was looking for data on a cheating spouse instead of dental office), and ripping people off.

Truthfinder founders must be laughing all the way to the bank off the backs of the American sheeple. They buy and obtain for free through API and scraping tools, publicly available information...but then their reports are filled with inaccuracies, missing information, and discombobulated data that DOES NOT SHOW UP on the Big 3 Credit Reporting Agencies, or other online or offline sources. Their charging practices, also bait and switch, and they blame Paypal and just hide behind that all the way.

My own report and others I reviewed are filled with 30-50% bogus information, omissions, and insertions of data that make the reports practically useless. They even show births, deaths and family members incorrectly.

The final trick they employ, with their room full of lawyers, which probably looks more like a scene from the movie Boiler Room or The Wolf of Wall Street, is to use every phrase and legal-ease known to mankind to basically equate the report they produce to be equivalent to a daily horoscope reading or a palm reading.

This business is so intellectually lazy and morally/ethically bankrupt, it is an example of the kind of crap business that can be fabricated out of thin air with zero accountability, skirting every law and making millions of dollars off the backs of sheeple.

Mr. Kristian Kibak, CEO and Mr. Joey Rocco, CFO probably vacation with other morally vapid vultures like Jamie Dimon, Doug Parker (USAir) and the teams from Enron, Verizon, Comcast and Wells Fargo.

Shame on Americans for putting up with this crap.

This site and all others like it are horrible! There should be a class action law suit against them for posting false information and defaming people's characters in order to get someone to order a report. They post that someone I know has a criminal record and the DO NOT! In the age when fraud is aggressive and a constant threat, I cannot believe that these type of sites are allowed to post whatever they find on a person - accurate or not - so that anyone can look it up!!!

Truthfinder is nothing but a ripoff. They promise to furnish information on someone for free, then when you get in there it becomes $27.95. You give the payment information, go back for the report and all it is is name and address, just basic information that you could get most anywhere.

Then it goes on to say you can get a premium package for another $17.95 and this package could contain information on crime, etc. In other words, it keeps promising if you keep paying but I don't have money to throw away for nothing.

My advice is to stay away from them. They don't deliver as promised.

I went to this site wanting more information and although they say it is a (not sure of the term they use) general search, after paying them $, I received information which I could have found on Whitepages. I called them immediately and they told me they would cancel my membership, but, of course, they would not refund my money because as they explain, they had my electronic signature that I understood their agreement. As well... the only way to contact them is by telephone, which they say is recorded, but, I really don't believe they record the conversations to avoid any record of the complaints. If they would allow emails, there would be documentation of their scam.

TRUTHFINDERS IS A BONEFIDE SCAM!

I had the one month subscription. They showed me related to STILL my ex husband (whom i had not been married to at all since 1990, n legally seperated 1,5 years be4 and hes been literally remarried 3 other times) but there it was, here in 2017, saying He was my relative, and NOT only that, but his deceased mother was MY relative as well. MY two children wernt on my relative list, but they were, OH, and to top it off, his 2nd wife was listed as a relative! He only ever had visitation. My kids are 35 and 34! in 2017, they say they got this info from public records and cannot take it off, i told them there wouldnt be a public record in the world to back them up but they were rude. THEN the said on MY report i was a college proffessor at Bowden, and Ive never been out of MO and KS, and only attended "some college" classes, most certainly did not graduate, and let alone be a professor. The jerk had the audacity to tell me It was all from public records, and no matter how many phone calls I made, or emails I sent, they would not believe me, NOR would they let me submit proof to clean up my file. as in let me give them ACTUAL PUBLIC RECORDS! Why wouldnt they take the truth???!!! Patty, in MO

SSDD

"Same as it ever was...same as it ever was..." What creeps me out is this: I wonder, while you are waiting for their superior search reports watching bars inch up slowly, if they are stealing your own private information. I wouldn't have a hard time believing it. Its already been said: waste of money, waste of bandwidth, waste of time and energy.

There is one thing though about _this_site's posts. Who is the intellectual grammar sniper with an ego as big as El Paso? Really? Take your own inventory and let people say what they need to say here, how they want and get off your high horse. I have news for you - the fact that you are a post sniper and don't even post your name tells me all I need to know about your character. I don't need TruthFinder, Inc. for that either.

Same as all the other online background check sites

Based on an online MSN 'news article' I thought that finally a useful and seemingly free background check was available. Well, after going through each 'information' page and watching the screen light up as it 'obtained' various types of information at all kinds of official databases I began to get suspicious. Then just before giving me the Holy Grail of personal information, it happened, they now require one last piece of information, my credit card number. Been through this before and was not about to do it again at almost $30 a month and the thing I really get mad about is that they are going to 'renew' me automatically until I cancel. These are never easy to cancel and when all is said and done I always regret starting it in the first place. Let me end by saying that MSN is the real crook here for publishing 'false' news which is really nothing more that advertising.

I went on this website looking for info on someone that I knew. I was feeling that this individual was hiding something from a family member and I was looking for help. I should have known when this website was asking me personal info about myself when filling out the registration process.

When I figured it out that the info they were asking for had nothing to do with what I was looking for, it was too late. They had my info. Then when they asked for my credit card info I knew it was a scam. I didn't give my credit card information.

They never said there was a fee until after they had my information.

I stopped the process and got out of the website. Since they had my email address, they kept sending me emails to continue the backround check on this person. I ignored it.

Since the day I went on this website, I get porn emailed to me all day. I did not lose any money thankfully, but receiving this all day is overwhelming. I want it to stop. I also don't want anyone else to fall into this trap.

I just hope this helps others.

Truthfinder is --- something.

My negative title(s) for this review was getting booted so I chose a neutral title to post my honestly disgusted review.

BUYER BEWARE!!! THEY OWE ME $60!

Just saw that I was charge for 3 mos. of a service which I knowingly and fully canceled the VERY day I opened the account. Why? I was only taking them up on their offer to try the account out for free and cancel before signing up for their service! I even have an email telling my husband I'd cancelled the account! I was nervous about providing my billing details to use the trial offer -- as I never intended to sign up for for the service! I KNOW I cancelled it now I'm going to send my email and screen shots to the Better Biz Bureau and other billing complain platforms!!!! RIGHT NOW. This is outrageous! What a total rip off and they KNOW it! BUYER BEWARE. NOW GOING TO SEEK INFO ON CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR THIS PLACE. SCAM ALERT!!!! I called the company and the man from Truthfinder sounded like I was wrong to think I'd cancelled but he would be so gracious to go ahead and offer to give me back my last month of billing. Gee thanks, but I never EVER signed up for it!!! What I noticed was that they waited for a few months before they started with the 29.95 a mo. billing with Paypal. I guess the charges got by me for a few months as I never expected them to be there! But now I will follow this up and figure out who responsible for this total scam!!!

TRUTHFINDER IS AWESOME!

Just kidding. They suck. This page wasn't accepting my titles so I used a positive one to post this honest and very angry review.

They are ripping people off. Just saw that I was charge for 3 mos. of a service which I knowingly and fully canceled the VERY day I opened the account. Why? I was only taking them up on their offer to try the account out for free and cancel before signing up for their service! I even have an email telling my husband I'd cancelled the account! They need to refund me asap for 2 x 29.95 and apologize.

Didn't find me

They said I could do a search and I did. Entered my birthdate and name. I obtained about 30 results with my name and not one of them was me. Not even close. What the hell is wrong with these people? I've been around for over 60 years and I have tons of history and their supposedly superior search website couldn't even find me? Thank goodness I only did the quick free search and didn't pay for it. Trust me if you pay them to be 100 percent WRONG then you are a fool.

TruthFinder, Inc. are email hackers.

TruthFinder Inc. is out of California, United States. First off, let me clarify that I DON'T live in California- I live in another state. On my Gmail account, I got a message saying that a recent device signed into my account, and it was a computer, out of CALIFORNIA. And this happened right after I requested for a report on a criminal who lived in my neighborhood. They hacked into my Gmail account and filled my inbox with over 200 SPAM messages. DO NOT trust this website, they will NOT ONLY scam you, but they ALSO have access to your email unless you secure it quickly.

They mention none of their fees upfront. They appear to aggregate a ton of data on the person you are investigating. Then they withhold it unless you subscribe. If you click to leave the site they entice you with a 5-day trial for $1. If you go along, they wait to hit you up for another fee to get PDF reports, which turn out be mandatory. Then they try to shake you down for more money by only providing the most basic info in the report. This is a sleazy way to do business. I hope you fail!

I found false information about myself. Website also advertises using misleading words to imply that a person is an unlawful criminal. I am looking to sue this company for slander and invasion of privacy. They give you an option to opt out of their directory. However, they should not list fraudulent and misleading information about people. The media gets sued for slander all the time, and I am sueing these people for slander.

Almost got taken.

I was looking up a friend, when I got to the "YOUR NAME" part. I put a bogus name, then they wanted my email. So, I googled them, and found this page. I'm VERY computer savvy, and EXTREEMLY paranoid! But they almost, I repeat ALMOST got me. I'm going to re-boot, and run malwarebytes right after I post this.

Thanks for all YOUR posts. One can NEVER be too careful! Are there any FREE LEGIT SITES that have accurate data? If you know of any, please post here, cause I haven't found any. I'll check back in a few days.

Scam the scammers, whenever possible.

Peace!
