This has got to be the worst decision you will ever make in your moving life. They are absolute liars and money-hungry, special mention to Keith who started the nightmare for us by underquoting us to obviously bait us. He told us that it would cost us $1800 for the entire transaction and that we just need to prepare $800 for deposit on moving day. So we did just that. Come moving day, three of their people arrived and one of them started going through our house. At the end of it all, this guy quoted us for $6,000. What a complete scam. We told him our conversation with Keith, and we tried to get a hold of him to no avail. This guy who did the quote at our house went on his obviously scripted line that "we are here to help you ..." we can do this and that empty words.
They took 5 hours to load our belongings - king bed, crib, changing table, kids's dresser, rocking chair, 3 pieces of hutch - these are the only big items they had to load. It took them 5 hours and they also charged for the "moving supplies" which meant they went wild in using their cheap packaging tape that was thinner than paper. They actually went around our house three times to make sure they weren't missing any empty rolls of tape. At the end of this day, we paid them almost $1800, and that's just half of the total cost. $1800 and we had to leave and sell for cheap our sectional, recliner, accent chair, barbecue grill, coat shelf and shoe shelf, 3 2x4 shelves, dining set table of 6 . We also had to haul all other items that we fit in our two vehicles. They also told us that they would deliver within 3 days of calling them. Good, some kind of good thing, yea? NO.
We called them on Wednesday, and they delivered Thursday of the following week. 8 days. We had to get new air mattresses, utensils, plates, and other essentials while waiting for them to deliver. The worst of it this specific situation? They said it could take up to 21 days to deliver when we first called them so we purchased items to. get us by for that long. There absolutely no ample amount of notice from them that they will be delivering today. There was absolutely no remorse on their end - not even sympathy. So come today, they called us and said that they will be here later this afternoon. But not without a catch.
They said they would need to measure the distance from where they are parked to where the front door of our house is. Anything beyond 100 feet is another $100 for every 50 feet. They bring this up because they brought a 75-foot truck and an't navigate within the roads of the apartment complex. 75-foot truck for only 1200 sq ft of items. When we asked them why they would bring such a massive truck, they said they're thinking about themselves and need to make the trip worth it for them. They even had the audacity to say "Well, do you want your stuff?"
They needed to make the trip worth it for them ... when we're already paying them another $1800. Of course, this Keith guy, who's full of lies, never returned any of our calls or even picked up one of them. He is an absolute scam of a person. Going back, when the delivery got here, the first thing the guy asks for is the check and payment for the extra footage beyond 100 feet. Did I say they were greedy? THEY ARE GREEDY. They had been here an hour now, and there is still no item in our house. They had to have the money first. Before this was all settled, they wanted to charge us an extra $400 for them driving a massive truck. Does that even make sense? No. No, it doesn't. But they believe it is their right to charge more because of something that they decide on, without any form of notice to us.
They are unloading all our boxes right now ... on the sidewalk ... without regard that these could be stolen.
Spare yourself from this nightmare and don't ever let KEITH do this to anybody else. He is the epitome of deception of manipulation.
I used Triple 7 for a move from Las Vegas to Portland (1000 miles) and they charged me $14K to move a 2 bedroom house in June, 2016. When they came out to do the initial review, they quoted me an estimate of $9K to make the move in 2 separate shipments to supposedly save me money.
So 2 shipments, one to move my furniture door to door and the second shipment of the rest of my household goods which they recommended going in a joined truck with other movers to save me money. I had packed all the boxes myself so this cost was just for moving. Both moves cost about $7K each and the move day was horrible.
They did the classic bait and switch scheme where they give you a low initial estimate and then give you the significanlty higher real cost because they know you are at their mercy on move day. They charged me an extra $1000 on move day to cover moving supplies which they neglected to mention in their initial quote.
The actual workers were great and helpful but the initial estimator-Saul is rude and dishnonest and I would not recommend this company because of their dishonest management and policy of frauding customers.
We used triple 7 movers for a 6 mile of a 2 bedroom apt. our contact with the company was named Jason.
Jason quoted us $650 for the move and then instructed us to save money we should buy our own boxes and packing tape. We followed his directions and purchased 45 boxes at Lowes.
When we called them back to tell them we had the boxes and tape, my wife Kim spoke to Ashlyn and was told that if she did the packing of the boxes that we could save at least $200 on our bill.
Kim took a week and packed all 45 boxes and had everything ready to go.
When the movers arrived, I took the beds and furniture apart to save more time.
We were told by the lead man of the crew, named Aaron, that most people tipped them $30 per man and that would have to be in cash.
Aaron was a great talker but was very slow at getting things done. We even saw 1 of the guys talking on his cell phone in the back of the truck.
When they submitted the bill, the total was $972.97 plus the $90 for the tip (in cash).
We contacted Ashlyn on the next Monday (the first day she was available) and the first thing she said was that it was not company policy to ask for tips, and wouldn't even discuss the fact that there was an over charge of between $300 to $500.
We tried to dispute just the over charge with our credit card company but they wouldn't help us because we signed for the total amount. (We felt at he time that we should talk nto the office and not argue with Aaron at that time, because we were very upset and just wanted them to leave.)
Niether Jason nor Ashlyn have returned our calls after many requests to try to resolve this matter.
