Trex Company, Inc. Reviews

  • Jul 23, 2020

Buyer beware, Trex does not stand behind their warranty which they claim is 25 years. We had a Trex Composite Deck built by a professional Trex Company recommended builder from the trex.com website. We utilized https://www.trex.com/find-a-contractor/locator/ to find a “trex” builder, we selected Integrity Construction Inc. from Sioux Falls, SD.

We spent $11,173.49 (which includes tax) for a Trex Composite Deck 20’x20’ on 8/26/2015.

It could have been visible sooner, but we noticed in Summer 2020 that the Trex Composite Boards were bending due to sun exposure. We contacted the builder Integrity Construction Inc. from Sioux Falls, SD. They noted this was common but was indeed a warranty issue. Builder said use the website Trex.com to apply for warranty. We uploaded images of the damage and submitted our receipt from original purchase in 2015 from our Trex certified builder.

Trex said warranty does not cover labor or fasteners, which is normally your largest expense in a project. Our builder bought all new boards and fasteners to replace the damaged ones and had them delivered to our home at a cost of $373.98. I asked Trex to refund the $373.98 which covered the 4 outside boards at my exact cost from the local Scott’s Lumber Yard. They refused, offered me $177 total.

Summary, Trex makes it a huge hassle to try and get warranties approved. Numerous emails, upload pictures, send original receipts… then they offer you a small fraction of what they should be paying you.

If you buy their product, best to assume there is little to NO actual warranty.
