Truck Parking is Limited in Baltimore MD. TA is the only truck parking services with adequate parking spaces. They know that so they uses that to their advantages to charge drivers outrages amounts of money to park there for the night. We have to spend 20$ or more in store in order to pay for parking. We have to spend over 60 gallons of diesels in order to get free parking. No where on their website does it mention these policies. First two hours is free which is good but come on once we are parked for the day. We ain’t going anywhere after 2 hours.
I am writing this in regards to my cousin, with his permission. My cousin, Frankie, is about 50 years old and has autism, He is on the higher spectrum of autism and is able to drive and hold down a job. However, you can tell that he is autistic. Frankie was on his way back home from a job site out of state when he decided to visit your convenience store on 4/1/2017 3:00 pm-ish, Easter Sunday. He has visited this TA many times before on his way through that area. He was in hopes to get a cup of coffee to warm his bones and to get a reprieve from the cold and very icy, nasty rain/snow storm.
There were a lot of wrecks on I-70 that day and Frankie had another 200 miles to go before he reached his home. A customer, an adult male, and presumably his son (age approx. 10 years old) were also in the store at the same time. Frankie noticed that the father and the son were saying derogatory remarks to him while mocking, laughing and making faces at him. Frankie ignored them and proceeded to get a cup for his coffee. Frankie states that a man from behind the counter, an employee, approached him and demanded loudly that he put the coffee cup down and get out of the store.
The employee told Frankie that he was the center of attention and disturbing the flow of business. Frankie was confused as to how he could be creating a disturbance when he said or did nothing. Frankie obliged him and walked to his car. The employee followed Frankie outside and told him to never come back or he will have him arrested. Frankie left and went to Petro and saw 2 gentleman that were also in TA at the same time he was, but had left due to the male employee's outburst. They walked up to Frankie and told him that the employee was rude and very unfair to him and was the reason they left. Frankie does not understand why the employee was so angry and rude to him. Frankie is a big guy and between that and his autism he does get some attention.
His actions are slow and methodical. None of these traits are reason enough to discriminate against. I don't think it was very kind nor professional of your employee to act this way. Frankie did not deserve to be treated with such rudimentary harshness, and especially on Easter Sunday. Good grief! Had Frankie been someone who is a hot head, your employee could have caused an undue reaction. I certainly would not want him as my employee if he is going to disrespect my customers and allow others to create a scene by being rude and scare off other customers. Please inform me (and Frankie) on what he did that was so wrong. Thank you for your time.
