We booked airline and hotel accomodations through Expedia for a two-week trip to Portugal last fall. In November, I was diagnosed with dermatomyositis, and entered treatment for it. Due to the medications I had to take, I was imune-suppressed and the outlook did not improve over 3 months of medication. Therefore, on March 2, we cancelled the trip, getting refunds for all hotel and travel within Portugal almost immediately. However, airline tickets, which were non-refundable, were not.

We contacted Expedia, who referred us to AIG. AIG gave us a long list of requirements, including medical documentation, which we submitted. They did not reach out to us for 3 weeks, whereupon our phone call was greeted by the announcement they had lost the paperwork. Upon "finding" it , they reported that, due to Covid-19 issues, they were behind in processing and asked our patience. By Late April, we had not heard from them, and kept calling and checking our status online.

We were finally informed we needed to contact United Airlines to request a refund or credit for future flight. Since United had cancelled the flight due to Covid, AIG needed to know our status with reimbursement from United before processing our claim. We were told notification of our status from United was sufficient via web URL to the statement by United. This took until mid-June to complete, and when all that was submitted, AIG further stated we needed a response from United directed to us personally. Since we were not Covid-involved, this seemed a delay that was unnecessary. AIG has in the meantime closed our claim until we submit their demanded paperwork, and refuse to process as a separate medical claim covered by their insurance contract.

Booked travel insurance for airline ticket through Expedia. Insurance was through AIG. Have been waiting 3 months for refund. AIG now wants us to get Expedia to send us email saying ticket is non-refundable. I already had sent AIG our itinerery with NON-REFUNDABLE circled! from American Airlines. All required forms were submitted with original claim.

In January 2020 I purchased 2 airline JetBlue tickets and travel insurance from AIG Travel Guard for a round trip to Florida trough Expedia. My travel dates were March 21 2020 and returning March 29th. Unfortunately, me and my wife who was working in a nursing home got very sick with the COVID-19 virus. We were very sick for over a month and a half and there was no way to travel with an airplane. We got tested and we ware positive for the COVID-19 virus.

Our doctor ordered us to stay home under quarantine and not to travel at all. We canceled our flight with JetBlue and filed a claim online with AIG Travel Guard for a full refund of our airline tickets. We submitted letters from our doctor and our COVID-19 blood test as per AIG’s request. Now it is over 2 months and we never received our refund and every time we call them (after we are on hold for 40 to 60 minutes) they keep telling us "We are experiencing unprecedented call volumes and extended hold times due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak”.

We would like a full refund ASAP from this company, we had paid them for that insurance, and they must honor it.

Travel Guard refused to refund travel insurance money when flight was cancelled due to Covid-19. They are intentionally not helping customers to save their won skins. I would be willing to bet that they are not only keeping peoples money but will also apply and take SBA money.

I booked a flight for wife and I from Kunming China to Chiang Mai Thailand in September with return flight from Chiang Mai to Kunming on 10/3. The purpose of trip was tourism. I purchased the Travel Guard flight insurance from the link on the orbitz web site. In Thailand, my wife had to see a dentist who wanted to do surgery.

The surgery was delayed until Oct 3, the date of our scheduled return flight to Kunming. I changed the flight, having to pay an additional 600 usd and filed a claim with Travel Guard/AIG. They made every excuse not to honor the claim, first lying and saying that the trip's purpose was to see the dentist.

When I proved this false, they said they only honor claims when the illness in unexpected. Of course, my wife's toothache was not expected. This is a rip off scam company. Nobody should ever purchase this insurance.
