Transmission Parts Distributors Reviews

  • Sep 28, 2020

I bought a rebuilt transmission from Jeff Madison (transmission parts distribution inc.), and of course it failed in less than one year of service. Sadly the truck, a '99 half ton chevy, never left town, pulled a trailer, or had over 5,000 miles on it. I was used exclusively for a lady to drive back and forth to work in the modest town of Gillette WY.

I started calling Jeff in May of last year and got 20 different stories, then in July he informed that it indeed was under warranty. I waited until September and they finally got it picked up. I called 1 to 2 times a week and could only get an answer once in a while. By November they guaranteed me my transmission would be shipped the next Monday, one time they even gave me a bogus tracking number, class act huh? In December Steve even left me a message on my phone thanking me for my patience and guaranteeing me that they would work through the holiday week to get my transmission to me. The lies just continued to add up and they were difficult to reach.

It is now April 28 and I haven't been able to get them to answer my call for over a month, not that that would help anyway because they just tell me another lie or say that I need to fax different papers, or that they are waiting for cores. Waiting for cares is probably the most accurate, I believe that they just buy a bunch of cores, dissamble them, patch them up and take their chances. The failure rate of their trannys if you read comments online is higher than used ones from a salvage yard. Don't let presentation fool you, the salvage yards have a washing system that makes their used trannys "look" rebuilt and Jeff is probably just cleaning them up.

Here's my advice if you need a tranny, pay the extra money and buy one from someone with intigrity, not from thieves and liars. Not all of their trannys will fail, but it's not worth the risk, because if it does fail.......well expecting them to warranty or do the right thing is just a waste of time. I've been a self-employed mechanic for over 25 years and have installed literally hundreds of motors and trannys and I have never dealt with such a dishonest, shameful, lieing, stealing company in all my life, I guess that they could be compared to Enron or maybe the ponzi guru Madoff.

I am only writing this to keep you from a lot of heartache, and I don't believe that this company should be able to sell trannys unless they clean up their act and warranty all their inferior trannys, which I'm sure is in the hundreds. Once again, sometimes it's cheaper to pay more and keep your business with someone you know and local, at least then you can look them in the eye and ask them why they think it's o.k. for them to lie and steal. You see I am just a little one man shop and have 8 children to raise and support and when I have to take a loss like this, basically I almost lose one months wages. I can't expect my customer to take the loss, after all, they weren't the ones dumb enough to buy from Jeff because it sounded like a money saver.
