On March 9th, TracFone automatically deducted 47 minutes from my balance, for opening a text message when the normal billing rate is 0.3 minutes. This is an overbilling of 156 times more! When contacting customer service they denied the minutes were deducted and would not reimburse them to my account.
This has happened before and is usually associated with an, "unsupported text message." It appears to be a technical glitch. The texts often cannot be deleted, but appear at the top of this list as unread. When they are sometime accidentally opened, as it easy to do on a a small cell phone, nothing actually opens and ~47 minutes are deducted! This happened once before and Tracfone did reimburse my text message minutes. Now, they are simply denying it.
I am wondering if this is some sort of scam? If you don't pay close attention, the deduction could be easily missed, as it just flashes on the screen for a few seconds. Then, you are on your way back to the store to buy more TracFone minutes! This, "technical glitch," could be bringing in a lot of money.
