I would not be surprised if that is not his real name after my interactions with him and what appears to be a deceptive culture as a salesman and the dealership as a whole. On CARFAX the 2019 Toyota Highlander XLE AWD was listed at $31,995 which showed up as a "Great Deal" on CARFAX and was supposedly under the average price of a similar vehicle by approximately $2,000. When given a quote, the price was $1,995 higher than what was shown on CARFAX. When I questioned this, I was told that this additional fee was mentioned in the car's description. While the description did mention requiring $1,995 down for financing, it wasn't clear that this would be added to the list price even if financing was not needed. When I questioned the deceptive description, I was told, "Everyone on Long Island advertises that way." After asking if I would agree to a purchase if they could come down $1,500, I was sent a quote which was $1,060 less than original quote and was told that was the "best" they could do. I agreed to $35,388.10 after trade-in. All was agreed on verbally and that the vehicle would be held for 3 days until I could show up to see the vehicle in person and potentially purchase it. I never agreed to finance. When I was first asked if I wanted to finance or pay cash I told the salesman it depends and I want to know what my options are. After agreeing on the price, I asked about paying with a check. I was told that the price would have to be increased again if I paid cash. After telling him we could not go any higher and after he had already agreed to hold it for 3 days he then said that someone else is about to "buy" it now.
