I own a used Toyota Prius with about 100k miles and noticed that there intermittent blinking warning lights that would flash and beep as I was driving in my car. The first time I drove my car to the dealer and had it dropped off so that they could make a diagnostic check. Took a whole day for the check and they said that the problem was the thermostat. Cost about $500 to replace the part. Took my car back and the beeping and flashing came on again. This time it was even worse. They said this time it must be the engine and to even open the engine cost about $800....OR we could sell the car to them for 1k. My question is: if the engine was truly the problem then why wasn't the problem found the first time around? And this isn't even the first time these "repairs" happened to me. Seems like they just keep guessing at the problem and rip me off while theyre at it!
