I wish Towne "Development" (read "Devolve-ment") would confine its activities to Oahu or better yet ... leave Hawai`i altogether. Certainly don't want it running its exploitive trip on Maui.
Alas, I live behind one of it's 12' dust fences 25' from my back door on the other side of which it is building 133 two-story townhouses estimated to cost upwards of $350+ (or higher once complete). This is just one of two Towne "Developments" ("devolve-ments") in this part of Maui - another of 220 homes is underway a couple miles down the road.
The daily dose of noise from the heavy equipment for months has been deafening and shaken our houses. The vibrations have also cracked the foundations of a couple neighbors homes. The hours of operation run from 7am - 5PM (were earlier and later until complaining to the state), and they also work on Saturday. Now they have some sprinkler going during the nights even on weekends that makes an annoying noise as it sprays across the dust fence thus causing sleep to be disruptive.
Point being, this company is "exploiting" our community and clearly insensitive and disrespectful to the neighborhoods in which it builds its fashionable homes that will never be affordable for local people. Indeed, I wish they'd pick up and do their business on the mainland versus continue to "rape" Hawaii.
I have repeatedly called the corporate office requesting a normal 8-5 workday, 5 days a week and some consideration w/re to noise. Upon calling, one does NOT reach a live human being rather is told by its automated system that it is "after-hours." One can hit #2 to reach the voicemail of VP in charge of customer service, yet don't expect a call back.
This company is a "disaster" to the culture and environmental wellbeing of Hawai`i feeding as it does upscale new residents. It does NOT reflect aloha, pono, or a commitment to what Hawai`i is innately about, and needs to leave here!
